Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Council.

"What have you done, Riel?! "You've merely sent Marrietta to hell, nothing else!" Logan, the council's leader, prodded Riel.

I'm confident Marrietta will succeed; she hasn't even begun, and you're already moaning! And it's not even that a human can't go there; they were simply the ones who established a law and made it out to be a severe abomination!" Riel retorted.

"Yes! She hasn't even begun, and she's already been locked up? Riel! Marrietta is just human, and you know how much the Nadi world despises ordinary people!" Ramona, another council member, said.

"Oohff!" There is something I detected in her that isn't just her strong-willed demeanour." Riel sighed and explained emphatically.

Logan and Ramona, along with the rest of the council members, exchanged glances, unsure what Riel meant by that comment.

"What exactly do you mean?" Logan inquired, perplexed.

"I believe Marrietta is linked to the prophecy; I sensed a strange aura in her." Riel replied in an affirmative tone.

"You mean the prophecy from Morticia?" Logan felt astonished.

"I think so!" Riel responded.

The other members all turned to stare at themselves, as if they had just discovered something but weren't sure what it was.

Riel had observed this in Marrietta since the day she died—She doesn't really belong in her prior world!' In the middle of the chaos in the council chamber, Riel reflected inwardly.

Marrietta had been transported into the new prison ward without her knowledge by the invisible entity, as directed by Kaytu.

She awoke feeling disoriented after sleeping quietly in the former jail ward. She frowned as she looked around, understanding she was no longer where she had been and that she was now in a room, not very adorned but pleasant; it doesn't appear to be a prison in any case.

She felt the soft bed she was lying on and realised she had been brought here on purpose.

She felt a chilly breeze on her from a specific place in the room, and she veered in that direction to see where the shivers were coming from. It was him! She immediately deciphered the man she had bashed before!

Her eyes widened in surprise! —This man had left without saying anything earlier; has he come to kill her now?" she trembled.

Despite her fearlessness, this man here is terrifying! Marrietta huddled on the bed, unaware if she was even meant to respect him.

"Have you come to exact your vengeance?" Martietta inquired hesitantly.

"Not quite yet!" Kaytu responded emotionlessly.

"Do you mean you'll still kill me later?" Why don't you simply do it now and call it a day?" She shot back.

"I like to take my time!" Kaytu spoke gently but confidently.

"Why did you bring me here, then?" Marrietta inquired.

"To find out more about you," Kaytu said placidly.

"Well, that's going to be difficult because I can hardly remember a thing." She shrugged as she stated this.

"Mhm! "I know exactly who you are!" Kaytu stated.

"Oh good!" Marrietta responded, not fully grasping the actual meaning behind Kaytu's statement, making her act nonchalantly and not wanting to worry about Kaytu's apparent rigidity.

"Rest well for now!" Kaytu said that and then vanished. He didn't want to startle her earlier when he went to the previous jail ward since the other water kinds would have recognised who she was due to how stunned she would appear if he had departed mysteriously in her presence; he also knew she likes to run her mouth, so she would almost certainly get in trouble.

Marrietta was taken aback by Kaytu's departure. She hadn't expected to see him leave in this fashion; she had only seen it in movies, never in real life, but now! "Could he vanish?" " Gosh!! This is becoming very serious! 'I feel like I'm going to die soon!' she thought to herself as she curled up on the bed.

Getting back to his abode, Kaytu called on the invisible being.

"I need to get the history of that prisoner. She's human! ... Find out how she got here or the connection she has with Nadi. I need to end her as soon as possible, so be fast about it!' Kaytu ordered in one go.

"Yes, your majesty!" The voice replied and left afterwards.

"Your Majesty, may I come in?" Paisley inquired.

"Yes, you may!" Kaytu permitted.

Paisley walked in and stood right in the centre.

"Your majesty, I'm really sorry about my father. Please, your highness, can you not kill him?" Paisley asked with a perturbed look.

"Mhm! I haven't thought of what to do with him yet, but you know best that I would punish him thoroughly." Kaytu replied reclusively.

"Yes, your Majesty, you have the authority." She reluctantly accepted Kaytu's judgement, knowing she couldn't pitch in further.

"Also, I have something for you, Your Majesty." She said this and brought out the wrapped bracelet she had bought for Kaytu a few days ago.

Kaytu saw the wrapped gift and said, "Unwrap it!"

She unwrapped the bracelet and held it in her palm.

Kaytu saw the expensive and glowing bracelet, but his expression remained stiff.

"What do you want in return?" Kaytu questioned her suddenly.

Paisley pondered this question carefully before responding.

"Your love! Your majesty." Paisley replied with her heart in her mouth.

"My love?" Kaytu asked calmly as he raised his brows slightly.

"Yes, your majesty, I am actually in love with you." Paisley replied after summoning up courage.

"Mhm! That I don't have to give; I don't feel that towards you nor to the other queen goddesses; just remain as the queen goddess that you are; do not go too far." Kaytu stated firmly.

Paisley felt sullen hearing these words—how could he say that to her so easily?

"But how can you not give me that in return? I loved you even before I got married to you! I pestered my father to betroth me to you, and even though you never cared to understand my feelings, I have been patient with you all along, and I can boldly say I am the only one who truly loved you; other queen goddesses got married to you mainly just to be on your good side and have relations with the royal blood line! Must you keep being difficult?" Paisley let out all of her expressions this time without batting an eyelid.

She waited for Kaytu to say something to her as he set his gaze on her seriously. He wouldn't be so cruel to ignore her feelings even after she had just ranted, right? She mused to herself.

"Your love is too aggressive; I can't take it in!" Kaytu replied firmly after a while.

-Really? This was what he could say after all that she had made known to him. Does Kaytu really have a heart?' Paisley fought with the tears finding their way out of her pupils.

"Even if my love seemed aggressive to you, all I know is that I love you!" She barked at him.

"Are you sure this is truly love? Or you're just infatuated by me?" Kaytu asked knowingly.

Without giving her the room to reply, as he had enough of her attitude, he added.

"The only reason I haven't punished you for talking to me in that manner is because I just had your father locked up, and I guess you're still grieving, so I will pardon you this day... Now leave!" He commanded.

Paisley couldn't refute it; knowing she had stepped beyond her boundaries by yelling at him, she turned around and left in inward anger. She would never believe her love is aggressive or desperate; love is love, and she won't stop at nothing to win that love!
