Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Poison Source

The water kind who had been with Marrietta thought probably she had been killed since they were in a deep slumberous state when the invisible being came for her, although the slumber wasn't natural but they had no idea.

"What is happening? I thought the chief guard said we would be released today and our duties would be assigned to us!" The first kind of water said

"I'm also worried as to why we haven't seen him; could His Majesty have changed his mind and ordered us to be killed?" The second added.

"Shut it! How could you think of such a thing? ... Well, I'm scared too". The first replied.

"Let's just hope His Majesty doesn't change his mind, but I must say, I really regret working with God Miguel and God Draige; I was just scared because they threatened." The third said.

"Me too!" The first replied.

"Me three!" The second backed it up.

"I wonder why his majesty still had god Miguel and god Draige locked up by now and had already killed the young goddess!" The first suddenly uttered this.

"We shouldn't worry about that; we should worry about us instead!" The third replied with a scorn.

"But do you two notice how beautiful that young goddess was?" The second questioned unexpectedly.

The other two peeked at each other in confusion.

"Are you falling for a dead goddess?" The first queried.

"Yes! If she had not died, I would have wooed her." the second reponded courageously.

The other two rolled their eyes at him, feeling he wasn't himself to have uttered such a thing.

It's not like they also didn't notice the young goddess' beauty, but more was at stake at the moment than dwelling in fantasies.

Samir had just returned and immediately came to deliver his report.

"Your Majesty, the poison is of the water kind!"

"Who exactly?" Kaytu questioned reclusively.

"Actually, we did our research and found out that it's a poisonous spell of God Miguel's household," Samir explicated carefully.

"How sure are you?" Kaytu inquired.

"After I noticed what the poison was, I went to his premise and met his Lady goddess; we searched the whole manor and later found a little portion of it in his pouch," Samir recounted.

"Does that prove to you that he was the one who poisoned the rivers and Springs?" Kaytu posed in other to get assurance.

"After the Lady Goddess had realised what had been found, I told her about the punishment that awaits her husband if she doesn't speak up. After some time, she confessed to it, saying it was actually god Miguel who poisoned the rivers and springs even before the attack at the market". Samir narrated.

"Why then is the poison reacting now?" Kaytu asked again.

"It germinates in the water and starts to react after four days. Today happened to be the end of its germination," Samir explained.

"Mhm! You can leave!" Kaytu permitted while his countenance was filled with chills.

Samir walked out and then vanished.

Kaytu's eyes turned dark out of rage. He had really let off his guard this time and decided to imprison Miguel instead—but now, he won't spare him!

Nagil had already sent a note to Paisley telling her what her father had done and how Samir had gotten evidence; with this, Paisley knew what awaited her father.

Although Nagil knew about Miguel's plans, as she did eavesdrop on Miguel and his cohorts' conversations during their meetings, she was never in support of her husband's actions. She warned him against them, but Miguel turned deaf ears.

Paisley hastened up to meet Kaytu immediately after reading the note.

She met a chilly and terrifying aura that could swallow one up into an endless dark space.

She knew Kaytu was enrageous at the moment, but still, she had to plead on her father's behalf.

"Your Majesty!..."

At that point, words failed her, as she didn't know what to say next.

Kaytu stood from his exquisitely adorned throne, ignoring her like she didn't exist. He glared into the space with killing intent.

I am the authority behind the power of the law!"

"I am the command that comes after every decision!"

"I speak power, and in authority I dwell!"

"Who dares to trouble my clan?"

"I am Kaytu! the god that speaks power!"

"Goddess paisley! I will not spare your father this time!" He said this to her, burning with ferocity after singing his own praise.

Paisley knew how much trouble her father had incurred by waging a war against Kaytu's clan.

She went down on her knees immediately, pleading with Kaytu even though she knew it would be futile.

"My dear husband, please! Spare my father, please! I beg of you! Please Kaytu!". She pleaded, weeping profusely as she held onto his fine robes.

Kaytu ignored her plea; he swayed her hands off him and vanished before her.

She wept clamourously, as she already knew that her father's head would be a present Kaytu was going to gift the soil of Nadi.

SOME DAYS BACK...

"The only reason I allowed you to get married to him is because I cherish you so much! and I wanted to satisfy you! But that won't stop me from fighting him! So get your senses together!"

Miguel yelled at his daughter in outrage while pointing his index finger at her.

Goddess Paisley, who had been bowing the whole time her father was bawling at her, shivered inwardly.

"Fa-father... I plead that you do not do this. I know God Kaytu might be rashb in his doings but, I believe he had his reasons. You should investigate more, father".

Goddess Paisley's words were full of stuttering while still bowing in front of her father.

"What is there to Investigate? Who doesn't know Kaytu to be a god who likes to show off his power?" god Miguel retorted angrily as he hit the bottom of his golden rod on the floor.

"I have spoken! .... Now leave!" He commanded her.

Paisley hesitated a bit but couldn't help settle to her father's premise. Even though Kaytu was known to be the most powerful, her father wasn't a god to be trifled with as well; he doesn't listen and possesses a stubborn trait.

She knew he wasn't going to adhere to her plea, even though that was the main reason for her visit. Kaytu, on the other hand, wouldn't go easy on Miguel if he dares to attack Nadi.

—What should she do? She grilled inwardly.

—Should she inform her husband beforehand? No! no! no! That was bad idea! She only wished her father didn't go through with his plan—only that will save everyone!

Paisley couldn't help but to exhale loudly, knowing there was nothing she could do to prevent her father from fighting Kaytu, all she could do was keep her thoughts and wishes to herself. She felt stupid at her incompetency against her father.

After the train of thoughts, she vanished from her father's premise.
