"Who are you?"
"Garwyr?"
"Without the sarcasm, please."
He looks conflicted. He closed his eyes, and he seemed to be contemplating about it.
Perhaps he can't say anything because he doesn't want his identity to be exposed? I'm not asking out of suspicion or malice, I'm just curious.
After all, when we first met, he instantly killed the two thugs who were transporting me to Silper. I can't see his status with my 'appraisal' unless it's level nine. Not only that, when I saw him hunt monsters, it's always instantaneous. He doesn't miss with his bow, and when he fought with a dagger, he does it with a fluid movement and amazing reflexes. He's like an action movie star he does those fancy movements. Plus, he said he took care of the thugs that are planning to capture me.
That is why I want to know who he is. I just want to know him better.
But what if he turns out to be a fugitive or a criminal? I'm not that petty to just suddenly turn a 180 on him. He rescued me and protected me. That's all that matters to me.
He opened his eyes, and he looked determined.
"Okay, but you have to calm down when I tell you."
"Y-yeah."
It looks pretty serious, so I listened attentively. He
took a deep breath and told me who he is.
To summarise everything, what he said:
He is Garwyr Horrowein. Member of "Skőll". "Skőll" is a special unit of Garehis kingdom who works behind the scenes. They are a secret force that only the king and a handful of high-ranking nobles knew. He is also a member of Garehis Hunter's Association.
From what he explained, "Skőll" is a clan that strict as they are strong. They believe in "Strength conquers all." All forms of strength and power are
acknowledged. He also told me what kind of work they do and the obligations of each member.
"So... uhh... yeah, that's about it."
He looked at me with worry.
"Woah! That's so cool! You're like medieval J***s B*nd!"
"Who the heck is J***s B*nd?! No, wait, you're not scared or anything?"
"Why, though?"
He looked so surprised.
Why do i have to be scared, though? Being a secret agent seems awesome!
"I'm from Garehis, and you're from Sarvall. And right now, I may or may not harm your homeland, you know?"
"I'm not exactly patriotic or anything."
"I have taken many lives."
"That may be so, but it's for your country, right?"
"I may not be a good person."
"You saved me, so you're a good person to me.
"I will fatten you up and eat you."
"Now you're being ridiculous."
"..."
Seriously, what is he trying to do? Is he trying to make me hate him or something? No way, I'm gonna hate him. In fact, I find him cooler than before.
He sighed and smiled a bit. He looks more relaxed than before.
"I feel stupid thinking too much with this."
"Yep, at least you know, you're dumb."
"You're dumber than me, though."
"Excuse me?!"
We looked at each other and laughed. The serious atmosphere from before is gone. He must've been worried about it. So, with that, I decided to tease him.
"Hmm~, what was that about? Scared that i'll hate you or something?"
"... Yeah. That's the first time I got scared other than fighting powerful monsters."
"O-oohh."
I never expected him to answer honestly, so it caught me off guard.
He then stood up and stretched looking refreshed.
"Now that's over, let's take a rest."
"Okay."
Although the conversation was over, I still asked him a question that I was worrying about.
"Hey, Garwyr..."
"Hmm?"
"You said you'll take care of the merchant?"
"Yes, I meant what I said."
"That will not benefit your kingdom, though."
"About that..."
He told the content of the mission he took when he returned.
"I see... but will you be fine all alone?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine."
"That's not very convincing."
"All I can say is that you'll have to believe in me."
"... Fine, but promise me that you'll be careful, okay?"
"I promise."
Although he reassured me, I'm still worried.
"Oh right, I forgot to give you this."
"What is it?"
He handed me two books. The title of the books is "Alchemist's guide towards greatness" and "A Great Sage's Biography."
Woah! A book about alchemy. Now I can learn how to make potions.
I looked inside the other book to see what it was all about.
"W-woah! It's all about making magical tools and enchantments!"
"They are very expensive and hard to find, so I'm glad that you like it."
"Thank you!"
"You're welcome. I also bought some other stuff, but let's do that tomorrow, I'm tired."
"Hehe, Okay."
I guess that he's exhausted because of what happened today. He reported back to his headquarters, shopped for hours, took care of the thugs and even told me who he was.
"Oh, before that, take a bath first. You have a faint smell of blood."
"Wait, really? Crap, I thought I rid of them."
He went to take a bath. It was all ready when he returned. I gave him the newly made soaps and shampoo before taking a bath.
After that, I also took one, and then we went inside our tent to sleep.
While laying down on the sleeping bag, I asked him a question.
"Garwyr?"
"Yes?"
"When you rescued me from before, is it because of a mission?"
"Nothing of that sort. It's just impulse. I have already rescued you before I could think about it."
"I see..."
I smiled and closed my eyes to sleep, thinking that may be fate.
