Volume 4, Chapter 2: Mitsuki
"So, big brother, please listen carefully. Will you take your fingers out of your ears?"
Mitsuki was desperate.
"Well, it's not like it's going to be a good story anyway."
"No, it's not like that. It's an important story."
Reluctantly, I took my fingers out of my ears as Mitsuki requested.
"Hmm. You used to be my big brother..."
I made a slightly disappointed face.
"Huh? Does that bother you?"
Mitsuki seemed exasperated.
"Fine. If you're going to call me big brother (Onii-chan) from now on, I'll listen."
"What's with this embarrassing play?"
Mitsuki seemed a little embarrassed.
"You know, even in the other world, I ended up alone, and in this world too, I am alone and my heart is in turmoil."
"Oh... Well then, big brother."
Mitsuki blushed.
"One more time."
"Mo-ore! Big brother!"
Mitsuki shouted loudly.
"You're unexpectedly shy."
Aoi smiled.
"Ugh, I don't want to be called like that by a mutt!"
Mitsuki glared at Aoi.
"What's wrong? Who are you calling a mutt?"
I asked Mitsuki.
"When this world and that world split, there were divine beings in this world who brought magic. They are called purebloods, direct descendants, while those who have mixed blood with other ordinary humans are called mutts."
"What about those divine beings?"
"After this world and that world split and were about to be destroyed, the ancient gods who created the sacred tree in this world, which allowed humans to survive, were the people of the bloodline of those gods."
Kazanzakis-san answered.
"Huh? If your grandfather knew, then you should know too!"
Mitsuki glared at Aoi.
"I've never heard of it before."
Aoi looked troubled.
"Oh, I didn't tell my daughter either. I didn't want her to get involved in troublesome things. That's why my granddaughter doesn't know either."
Kazanzakis-san laughed with a hint of bitterness.
"Is that so?"
Aoi looked at Kazanzakis in surprise.
"Well, unfortunately, we are also purebloods. The Nikos family is a direct descendant of the Greek goddess Hera."
"What?!"
Mitsuki was astonished.
"Well, you know... It has become something that only kings and priestesses of various countries know now, and those who pass on the legends have been dwindling. Among the 48 pillars... eight countries have completely disappeared, and they don't know anything. That's why they didn't join the alliance of Yamato's sacred tree this time. As for Alexia's part, you destroyed it, and Kontyu is protecting Alexia's core. So Kontyu received the core from you. Only the Empress knows about it, and the priestesses shouldn't know, so they might have made a fuss when they saw you."
Kazanzakis-san looked at me.
"W-What? No way! You know everything!"
Mitsuki was astonished.
"So, you're saying that you're a pure-blooded deity!"
"But the Nikos family in Yamato didn't know about our pure-blooded lineage."
"We don't openly reveal the Sacred Tree, and it appears to be a small tree at first glance. It has been underestimated by other countries as well. I have experienced such situations myself, so I found it difficult to explicitly tell my daughter that she is a deity."
"Neither my mother nor I have ever seen the Sacred Tree of this country," Aoi said with a curious expression.
"Well, it's less than five meters tall. It's difficult to show even to relatives, and at first glance, it's not recognizable," Kazanzakis-san laughed.
"What? Then, doesn't that mean you don't have any power?" Mitsuki exclaimed.
"Oh, I am exerting all my strength to seal something," Kazanzakis-san replied.
"Something?" Mitsuki asked.
"A monstrous creature called Typhoon that can even destroy stars."
"What?!" Mitsuki was greatly surprised.
Kazanzakis-san turned towards me.
"At first, you looked poor, and I hadn't met you in person, so I didn't realize you were Yuki-kun. But as we talked, I noticed that you were Yuki-kun," Kazanzakis-san said with a serious expression.
"We, the blood relatives of Hera, have been living here to pass Typhoon, the monster, onto you."
"I see! That's why this child has incredible power to control monsters. Controlling Typhoon requires immense magical power!" Mitsuki exclaimed, looking at Aoi and nodding in agreement.
I didn't understand what they were talking about.
Aoi also seemed confused, with a bewildered expression.
"But, you know, I thought while watching you," Kazanzakis-san stared at me intently.
"Maybe, just maybe, you don't actually need Typhoon."
"What?" Mitsuki was dumbfounded.
"Because you're busy at the supermarket," Aoi smiled and nodded.
"Wait a minute! Soon, the worlds on the other side and this side will connect, and the time for the 'Final Judgment' will come! Everyone will die if we lose!" Mitsuki yelled, her eyes slightly teary.
I see, that's why he has been doing such dirty work.
He's been doing it to protect everyone and this world...
Mitsuki has always been a kind child.
Her fierceness the other day was for the sake of everyone's well-being.
I felt a slight tug at my heart.
"No, it's not that. I think, maybe, even without Typhoon, you can easily win against the other world," Kazanzakis-san said, patting my shoulder.
"What?!" everyone exclaimed in astonishment.
