Chapter 35 - V4C5

Volume 4, Chapter 5: From Now On

"By the way, does Kazanzakis-san's Holy Tree possess the monster Typhoon?" the king suddenly asked Kazanzakis.

"Well, the Holy Tree is sealing it," Kazanzakis replied.

"Do you intend to hand it over to Yuuki?" the king inquired.

"No, I don't think we need it. I believe we can win as it is," Kazanzakis answered.

"You underestimate their weapons. They possess a destructive weapon capable of wiping out entire continents called a nuclear weapon," Mitsuki desperately exclaimed.

"I wonder if they also have Vertical Maneuvering Equipment," Duke Ijuin asked.

I perceived the story of humans being eaten by giants in Attack on Titan as simply a depiction of gigantic ogres, but Duke Ijuin seemed to find romance in the Vertical Maneuvering Equipment and was quite excited.

"I'd love to see it," Duke Miyata muttered.

He really loves anime and manga.

"Hey, Yuuki-kun. Realistically speaking, do you think we can win against their world at this stage?" Kazanzakis asked.

"To be honest, I think there are ways."

"Oh, for example?" the king inquired.

"You could use Apolito's reconnaissance to find their weak spot at Yellowstone and trigger an eruption with Gouten."

"Yellowstone?" the king questioned.

"Yeah, there was news during my time that there might be an eruption around 2025," the prime minister answered.

"What's the significance of that?" the king asked.

"When an eruption occurs, it unleashes tremendous destructive power. Moreover, the volcanic ash would block their sun, leading to a global cooling effect, and it's said that only one-third of the world's population would survive," the prime minister explained.

"What?!?" the king exclaimed.

"And then, you see, at that point, the wealth disparity in their world has already become extreme, and potential conflicts were on the verge of erupting. So, we would fan those flames. Naturally, the rich can buy food, but the poor will explode. By crushing both sides when they are weakened, we can eliminate them," the prime minister continued.

I looked around at everyone.

"But, they also have nuclear weapons," Mitsuki said.

"That's also mutual assured destruction, right? If one side pre-emptively uses nuclear weapons, it ultimately ensures that both sides will completely destroy each other with nuclear weapons. They claim it brings peace because they can't attack each other, but that's a lie. Basically, all you need is someone who can brainwash a few missile launch sites with their skills, steal them, and launch a few nuclear missiles at the opposing side. Especially if it's between major powers, there won't be much left of them as nations. Once the hegemonic powers are gone, the consolidating nations disappear, and then it's just a matter of making them fight each other and crush each other. Conversely, if you side with one of them and have the side that the enemy sided with defeat them, you can crush the side you sided with from behind."

"Would it really work that well?"

"In the end, it's all about human beings. Regardless of the weapons, nothing really changes. It just brings their underlying conflicts to the surface. And when those underlying conflicts become visible, it turns into a truly massive battle. So you just let it happen. Let the weapons destroy each other."

Everyone fell silent when I finished speaking.

"Well, you don't really need a monstrous Typhoon or anything like that, do you?"

Kazanzakis-san laughed.

"On the contrary, it's better if it doesn't exist. If they underestimate us, they won't be cautious and try to resolve the conflict. Instead, we should act as good neighbors to them. In the end, things will be different."

Everyone fell quiet.

"Wow, that's creepy!"

The king was taken aback.

"No, that's why I hate it. In the end, I'll be the only one left."

"You're scary, as always."

Daikei Ijuuin had a serious expression on his face.

"See, it always ends up like this."

I complained.

"But you know, even if we do something, it will backfire on us."

The king smiled.

"Even if I'm exposed, I'm just Lieutenant Kunihito after all."

The prime minister also smiled.

"Well, you two do look alike."

Kazanzakis said, as if seeing something scary.

"The blood of Yamato is such a pain."

Aoi laughed.

Well, I don't think it's a laughing matter.
