Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Call me brother!

Justin stared at the system window and saw the new set of instructions that had been placed there for his good.

"I have to gain more experience in missions to level up, huh? But the thing is, you don't give me any quests so how do I complete missions, exactly?"

(User needs to go out more often and quests will be automatically activated!)

"Like how I went out today and you gave me that quest to save the little girl?"

(Yes!)

He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed.

"Then I really do need to get out more." He said and sighed again. "But thank goodness for that cloak!" He said ab realised something. "Hey, system. Can I buy skills?"

(Yes! There are skills sold in the store but some can also be acquired as rewards for missions.)

"Then, is there a chance I can get mana? Maybe do some magic tricks and stuff?"

(.....)

The system window opened but in the store, the only few opened goods did not include anything mana related.

"That's a whoop!" He exclaimed and set his eyes on a sword teaching manual. "Hey, system, I've been doing a lot of fist throwing since the beginning. Can I try sword fighting?"

(It would be a good practice!)

"Then, " he tapped on the teaching manual and saw the cost. It was just a hundred points. He smiled. "I can afford this."

He bought the manual and took it out. But disappointedly, it only had basic teachings like standing positions, how to hold the sword up and stuff like that.

"I knew it was too cheap to be true!" He tsked.

(Learning the basis of sword fighting is very essential. Most people practise sword fighting and skip the basis which is very good for your form. If you master it, you will never lose your stance in a sword fight.)

"Hm," Justin rubbed his chin. "Are you sure you're not trying to rip me off? You just sounded like a merchant advertising even the most worthless of his goods!"

(..!..)

"I was right!"

(But even the most worthless have their own use. Take the hammer for example.)

"Yeah, that hammer did serve a good purpose!" He smirked, remembering how well he used it. "If you put it that way then, I'll give it a go." He put it in the inventory and then, he felt something was amiss.

All of a sudden, he heard Alexia scream.

He rushed towards their room and found them in the bathroom all covered in burble and splashing water everywhere.

"Why did you scream?" He asked and the two stopped laughing. "You two… "

"Oh, we're sorry!"

"Alicia flooded the bathroom!" Alexia reported and he looked down at his feet.

They indeed flooded the bathroom but could he blame them? It was probably their first time taking a bath.

That aside, was it okay for him to be here while they took a bath?

"You two, how old are you again?" He asked.

"I, I don't really know." Alexia said and turned to Alicia. "How old am I?"

"Hm, maybe four? I should be five." Alicia guessed but it was clear that it was just random.

In any case, they were still too young to go about talking about female decency. It was okay for him, right?

"Mister, will you also take a bath?" Alexia asked.

"Yes but not now." He said and rolled up his sleeves. 'There's no way they'll be able to wash themselves properly given that they've never once taken a bath. But, is this alright? I'm not an expert either!' he kept contemplating his thoughts when Alexia splashed water towards him. "Hey!"

"She did it!" Alexia pointed at Alicia and they both laughed.

"You did it, not me!"

The view… It was like he was raising kids of his own. No, he was too young for that. It was almost like raising sisters. Yeah, that was how it felt.

But, he couldn't look past that glint of red light in the midst of their blue light.

'Whatever! I'm sure they're not dangerous. If they were, the system wouldn't let them stay near, right?'

(....)

"Come on, I'll help you scrub your back and hair!"

"Really? I hope it's not too much trouble!" Alicia said.

"It's fine! If you're going to take a bath, you need to at least take a clean one, right?"

"Alright! We'll be counting on you, mister!" They both smiled and he nodded.

"This is how to scrub your hair for next time, okay?" He said, scrubbing Alexia's head and Alicia observed carefully.

"I see!" She began scrubbing her own hair but it was clear she was just rubbing it frantically and he laughed.

It was the first time he ever felt genuinely happy to the point of laughing with ease. These two, they certainly weren't humans! His faith in humans had already waned so he wasn't comfortable with them. Then, were they dragons?

"Mister, did you buy the clothes already?" Alexia asked as they started running the soap off and then he realised he hadn't done that.

"Um, yeah!" He lied. "They're upstairs!" He got up and went out of the bathroom. "System, I'd like to buy the teleporting skill now!"

(You mean the warp?)

"Yeah, whatever!" He purchased the skill and put on his cloak. In an instant, he disappeared and appeared in front of a clothing store.

He hurried in and picked up anything that looked suitable for little girls, dropped a few gold, regardless of what the price was and disappeared.

He was back in the house, right in front of the girls room and opened the door. They were running around with nothing on and he threw the clothes at them.

"Here, put these on so we can go out!" He said and their faces lit up in excitement.

"Thank you mister!" They both chorused and ran to hug him but he stepped aside and they fell face flat on the ground.

(You're so mean!)

'What? I didn't know that would fall!' he thought and helped them up. "By the way, stop calling me mister. I'm too young for that."

"How old are you, mister?" Alicia asked, innocently.

"I already said… forget it!" He lightly poked her head. "You don't need to know how old I am but know that I'm still young and you calling me mister just makes me seem old!"

"Then, what should we call you?"

"Hm, call me brother!" He said. "If anyone asks, tell them I'm your big brother, okay?"
