Justin took the girls out to get more clothes and a few necessities that were missing in the house.
All eyes were them as they strode the streets but they simply walked on.
"Mister, no, I mean, brother!" Alexia called as they walked and he looked down at her.
"Hm?"
"Why are you covering your face like that?" She asked.
"I have too many enemies!" He said and looked up ahead.
"But brother is such a kind person. Why do people hate you?" Alicia asked and he shook his head.
"Hm,I wonder!" He responded.
Somehow, he had a little sense of pride whelming in him. 'I didn't know my taste in clothes was so good.' he thought.
(...)
'I mean, just look at the girls. They look so good in the dress. They almost look like nobles if you ask me.'
(And that is thanks to who?)
'So what if you helped out a little? I bought the clothes!'
(A little? You couldn't help them wear the clothes, their hair were like bird nests and you forgot to get them shoes. What did you expect them to look like going out like that?)
'Okay so, you did help out a bit.' he concluded, trying to ignore the system's glare.
Truly, Justin knew not a thing on how to help the girls put on the dresses. He couldn't even tie their hair in a simple ponytail. And worst of all, he forgot to buy shoes.
'I guess I do owe it to the system this time. Buy what is a manual for taking care of little girls doing in the system's store?'
The system ignored this question and he smelt a rat.
He looked down at the girls as they talked and laughed happily with each other. This view made his heart lighter.
'Well, it doesn't matter. As long as it helps.'
Thanks to the healing water, the girls no longer looked like all the life had been sucked out of them. Their bruises had also been healed and their skin looked extremely light and smooth.
'If I wasn't the one behind it, I really would've mistaken them for nobles.' Justin thought and stopped.
The two girls stopped as well and looked up at him. He turned to them.
"Okay, what do you want to do first? Get something to eat or… " before he could finish his question, their stomach grumbled loudly. "I guess we'll eat first. Come on!"
Justin took them to a restaurant and there, he ordered food like he never had. Most were meat but he also made sure to order health wise meals.
"Do you think you guys can handle this? I don't know about you but I've got a worked up appetite!" Justin said and they cheered.
"We can! We can!"
"Alright! Let's see who can eat most of em!" With that, they all began stuffing their mouths with one meal after another.
Justin never thought they had it in them but they were stuffing their mouths with the same amount he was.
'They must be really starving.' he thought.
Thanks to the never-go-hungry-for-a-week pill, he was able to stay without eating but that did not mean he didn't have the craving sometimes and now, it was time to fill his stomach to the brim.
The customers in the restaurant watched these three eat like they were in an eating marathon.
"Ugh, they eat like pigs!" Some said.
"Awn, stop it. I think the girls are adorable the way they stuff their mouths full. Haha!" A lady remarked.
"Given the way they're eating, they look like they haven't eaten in weeks. Can they even afford it?"
Justin heard this and in order not to cause any form of misunderstanding, he dropped the gold on the table. This silenced them for sure.
Once the meal was over, they all let out a sigh of satisfaction and burped.
"That really hit the spot." Alexia remarked.
"I'm so full that I don't think I'll be able to eat for another year."
"Are you two alright? You ate quite a lot." He said and they nodded. 'God, what's in their stomach? A well? I can't even eat that much!'
While they were eating, Justin snuck a few meat into the inventory. They wouldn't rot there since there was no time passing in the inventory. It would still be fresh and warm the next time he took it out.
"Now, should we go get you some clothes?"
"Yes!"
Their excitement seemed to have been renewed after the meal. They went to a clothing shop and got almost all the dresses they picked out but he was sure to select the good looking and cute ones from the hilarious ones, as advised by the system.
"I don't know, I think they'll look good in anything." Justin remarked but he still did as the system said.
(Don't forget to buy shoes this time.)
The system reminded and he nodded.
"What next? What next?" Their excitement still seemed to be at its max and Justin laughed.
"Let's go to the market to buy other things!" He said and the girls jumped up in excitement.
While no one was looking, he placed the clothes in the inventory. If anyone did see, he'd claim he put them in a space pouch.
The day was fun and exciting and Justin had never had this much fun since he could remember.
The girls smiling and laughing at everything they saw was also amusing and heart warming and for some reason, he felt life wasn't all that bad.
(You're having a change of heart towards the world, aren't you?)
The system asked and he rolled his eyes.
"You just had to go and spoil the mood, didn't you?"
(I just need to remind you. There are innocent souls like this that need protection.)
"Yeah yeah, that's why the gods chose me. We're all in danger. I get it." He felt it was a bit of a headache and spotted a weapon shop. "Hm, since I'll be taking up sword lessons, I might as well get myself a sword." He said and turned to the girls. "You girls play around for a bit, I'm going to check out that store." He said, pointing at the store and they looked at it.
"We want to come with!"
"No way. A weapon's store is no place for little girls. I'll just check it out and get back here real quick, okay?" He said, rubbing their heads but they pouted. "Now don't be like that. I'll be back soon."
"Okay!"
"Alexia, you're in charge. Don't wander too far, okay?" He instructed and they nodded.
"Yes sir!"
