Chapter 7 - Hostage 2

With both of them lying helplessly in pain, I made my escape through the door.

When I first entered this house at the ball, I found it easy to navigate, but from where I was standing, nothing seemed familiar. It would take me all night to navigate this place, dodge all the cameras and guards and still get out.

I looked down the balcony and saw the place where the ball was held, now arranged as the sitting room. And from the look of it, I was on the third floor.

I hurriedly walked down the hallway and found my way to the elevator, all the while ignoring the stinging pain of the cuts on my hand and the numbing soreness of my feet. I pressed the button, but it was still far up. Out of impatience, I went down the stairs to the next floor.

I recognized this one as the one where Don brought me to the night of the ball. Where he gave me the rose and the kiss...

I shook it off and continued walking when I heard someone call from behind me. "Where do you think you're going love?" his husky voice stopped me in my tracks.

I turned around frustrated at how he managed to stop me each and every time. "I'm going to the door to tell everyone how happy I am to have been kidnapped and kept here against my will" I answered sarcastically and continued on my way.

"I don't plan on stopping you if you're going home, but just don't be surprised to find your father's bullet-ridden body in his office when you get back"

I froze in shock which soon turned to anger. "If you hurt my dad in any way, I swear I'll..." "I have no intentions of hurting your father in any way" he countered, "That is if you are willing to cooperate. Besides, he needs to be alive to see me marry his daughter"

My eyes went wide. "M-Marry?!" I repeated in shock. "No f*cking way am I going to marry a cocky asshole who has the effrontery to hit my dad and kidnap me" "It isn't your choice to make, love, you are simply an atonement for the crimes your father has done against me. It's either you or his death".

I fumed with every word that fell out of his mouth. "I hate you and I plan on reciprocating every single thing you've done to me so far" I lashed out and angrily marched back to the room I was given.

The men I had fought with were no longer there, the broken pieces of ceramic had been cleared, and every other thing seemed to be in place.

I dropped to the bed frustrated and buried my face in the pillow. There were a lot I wanted to do. Cry. Scream. Punch the pillow. I didn't know which I felt.

Being held here against my wish was frustrating, marrying someone who I barely know talk less of loving is heartbreaking, and worst of all, knowing that making the mistake of meeting Don has now placed my dad's life in danger was enough to make me cry like a river.

"I'm sorry Dad" I mumbled as I felt my eyes welling up. I pushed the tears back but felt them gathering again.

*KNOCK*KNOCK*KNOCK*

I sucked the tears in and went to the door relunctantly. I opened it and found Isabella standing there with a wide smile.

"Hi Anaya!" "Hello Isa. Can I help you?" "No. I heard what happened and decided to bring something for you to sleep in. By the way, I'm sorry for how Don treated you" she apologized, "No need to apologize. Come in" I stepped aside and she entered.

"No really. He isn't really that harsh. He can be a softie sometimes" "I'm guessing that would be with only you" "Maybe. I don't know" she shrugged and dropped the clothes on the bed.

"Are you okay?" she asked concerned. That question was like another blow that nearly made a tear dropped. I pushed it back and forced a smile on my face.

"Yeah. Why do you ask?" "Your eyes are glassy as though you're about to cry" she pointed.

That was the final straw. I felt a tear trickle down my cheek. I wiped it off and blinked back the remaining ones.

"I'm fine, just need a little time alone to clear my head" I admitted in a shaky voice.

She nodded and delivered a sweet smile. "No problem" she came closer and hugged me, "Just know that I'm here" she added. "You can talk to me if you want or not if you don't feel comfortable, but I'm always here to listen to you" she assured and released me from her hug.

She gave one final smile and walked out of the room.

That finished it.

I crashed back into the bed and allowed all my tears to pour out.

I cried so much that even my stomach began to hurt.

"No! I wasn't raised to be weak. Crying is a sign that Don is winning in punishing Dad through me. I can't let that happen" I said to myself and wiped the tears off my face.

I picked up the clothes Isabella dropped for me and headed for the bathroom.

"Get ready, Don. You just brought the bloody angel to your home, and I plan on causing as much trouble and chaos as I can"
