Teaser Tea House, Room Number 5
"My lord, do you need to hold the gun closely? I am sure the lady is here only to hold a conversation with you." Ethan felt he was going to faint anytime.
Why did Camelia need to put her hands in the beehive? She was going to get injured. There was no other way to deal with Damien.
"Then shall I take daggers out?" Damien cocked his head to the side and met Ethan's eyes whose breath hitched like a woman reaching orgasm.
He wanted to shout out loud to end this torment but he was too scared of Damien's next reply,
"I mean, you can kill her here. Who knows how many people know that she is coming to meet you?" He grumbled in the end but as if a new thought formed in his mind and his eyes widened, "Or this was her plan from the start."
He nodded at himself with surety, "Think about it. The woman did not like you yet she asked you to meet her here. What if she had expected that you would attack her? She would let herself injure and then her knights would storm into the room.
You will be announced as a criminal if you do not attack them. But if you attacked them and run away, you will be announced as a wanted criminal and then they would drag me into the prison instead of you and torture me to know about your hideouts.
I have no intention to die so early, my lord.'' The man shivered with fear and his face crumbled with fear as if he could already imagine getting himself tortured in a dark prison when Damien raised a brow.
Dami rolled his eyes and looked back to the gun in his hands. They were new in the empire and only a few had the chance to hold one.
He was still in awe of the weapon. How it could be used for distant attacks and the attacker could hide himself easily.
"Even if I kill her with this gun. I will wait for the meeting to end and let her leave the building." he stood up from his seat and looked out of the window.
He pointed at a place after five seconds, "I will only attack when she reaches there."
Before the knights could understand what happened, we would already be in our carriage and there would be no way to prove that it was us.
The gun is not a registered weapon and there is no way to check which gun had killed her. I am sure a woman like her had many enemies.
Ethan followed him and looked out of the window. Rewinding Dami's plan in his mind and calculating the time it would take the knights to run toward her and hold her and the time they would take to take the stairs and leave this damn building, he nodded his head in appreciation.
"Then I can finally relax." He sat on the chair and wiped the sweat off his face.
"If her husband gets her position after her death, kill him too." Ethan mumbled with a twisted face as if he had tasted something bitter, "And use a gun only, that foolishness is good with swords."
Though he was sure Damien was stronger, it would be messy. Mike could give a tough fight.
"Hmm, it would not be needed." Ethan raised a brow and looked at Damien when the man laughed.
"We will need a scapegoat. I have gifted the same gun to that fool in his marriage. We can pin the blame on him. A greedy man who wanted to get rid of his wife to get her wealth and position. The nobles would easily buy the story." Ethan grinned.
His smile reached his eyes as if he could already imagine everything vividly in front of his eyes.
"When the marquis would lose everything at once, he would need someone trustworthy to take care of his son closely," Ethan whispered, amazed. How his master had taken care of every detail.
"Who would be better than the head of the first order of knights and a distant relative who was going to take the position of head of vassal families before? I am sure he could come begging to you." Dami's lips twisted upward, it was a smile but at the same time, it was not.
But his eyes were cold as if no emotion could reach them ever.
Ethan felt bad for the man. No one knew except Ethan how loyal Dami was toward the family, toward Lia. He had looked up to that woman all his life.
But in the end, he was thrown away like a fly. It was only fair that he would take revenge. But.. could this revenge bring the smile back to Damien's face?
His chest tightened at the thought when the door knocked. Without waiting for the reply, Lia opened the door and entered.
Ethan's head snapped toward the table where the gun was resting with horror. But to his shock and relief, the gun was not there anymore.
When did Dami take it away? He did not notice but he was relieved.
"To what do I owe the pleasure, my lady?" Dami folded his legs and leaned on the chair when Lia walked in.
He made no efforts to stand up or bow his head to greet her. His eyes were cold, mocking, and numb when she smiled.
She walked towards the opposite seat and sat on it.
Her eyes scanned the whole room and stilled on Ethan who stood up.
Even if he wanted to, he could not be insulting to the woman like his master.
"Madam!"
"I am here to offer you the position of the count and the southern Redcliff land in exchange for a deal."
