"You want to insult him?" That was not a question anymore, the way his gaze flickered when he looked at her.
"Yes, and to make it better, let him win first. How many of you knights could defeat him?" Dami stared at her with an intense look.
His smoldering eyes could make any woman blush but Lia stared at him with a deepening frown, not understanding why he did not reply.
Ethan wanted to kick Damien. Even as a man he was blushing so hard. What did he want to do with the woman to his shock and confusion, Lia only looked at Ethan.
"I think he did not know much about all the knights. Do you have any idea?" The way she did not deter from the topic made Ethan want to applaud.
He bit his lips to not laugh at Dami who looked confused. He was waiting for the woman to put putty in his hands so that he could know more about her devious plans.
"Ah, madam. I think it will only be me and my lord. Your husband might be a greedy person, but he is qualified for his post. I might even struggle to defeat him." She nodded seriously when Ethan scratched the back of his neck, feeling so much pressure.
The air in the room was thick.
"Then you will lose." She ordered making Ethan agape.
Did she not want to insult her husband?
"I will wait for your response. If you do as I said, I will prepare the land papers and sign them. But, this would not be the last order, we have a long way to go." she announced and stood up.
From the start to the end, she had not touched the tea or snacks on the table.
She picked up the cloak she had worn when she came in.
He kept staring at her every action like a hawk. When she held the latch, she stopped suddenly.
As if reminded of something, she turned to look at Damien, whose eyes were burning.
"If you really want to use that gun, you should buy more bullets." her lips twisted into a smirk as she closed the door behind her.
She was already gone but Dami kept staring at the door for a few more seconds before bursting into laughter.
He took out the gun from his pocket and opened its magazine. He laughed when he found it empty.
"How did she know that you have a gun?" Ethan's shocked voice irked him. This fool?
"You should be asking where did the bullets go?" Dami shook his head but his gaze had deepened.
He was shocked when she sat on his lap and now he realized that it was not an abrupt act or foolish decision.
"Ha! That woman." She was the only one who had challenged his desires, his sanity, and his actions all his life. Yet, she chose that fool.
His eyes flickered again and something sinister formed beneath them.
"If she wanted to take revenge on her husband, he would not survive for long. Do you think I will have another chance when she becomes a widow?" Ethan blinked, his face lost all his color and he stood there frozen.
"You could not be serious." Ethan shook his head as if he had heard the announcement of the ending of the world. "She is fire, she will burn you too."
As if he had not convinced Dami enough. He sat on his knees and stared into Dami's eyes.
"She wanted to kill the man she had just married two days ago. Do you think any sane woman would do that? I would not be shocked if she drank the blood of her husband after killing him, Dami. She is dangerous." Dami raised his head and met the scared eyes of his friend.
A small part of him wanted to console Ethan and assure him that he knew she was fired. But a large part of him wanted to follow the fire and get entrapped by it like a moth.
"Come on, we have work." the madness in his eyes flickered away in a second as if it never existed in the first place as he stood up.
Ethan felt a lump forming in his throat. He wanted to remind Dami again. But he knew more than anyone, no one could deter Dami from what he wanted.
They walked out of the tea room and took the carriage. Lia had already left a long time ago.
"Are we going to the royal palace?" Ethan finally relaxed. He leaned on the seat and closed his eyes. His body dealing with the aftermath of shock.
"You will spill the tea on the man's clothes." but the peace was short-lived. He snapped his eyes open and glared at Dami.
"And why would I do that?" He spoke so forcefully that he bit his tongue in the process but Dami just shrugged.
"You do not want me to shoot him to start the fight do you?" Although Dami said those words nonchalantly, Ethan knew that this crazy bastard could do it.
"It would be better if we challenge Michael for his mistake. Why should we be at fault." he sighed, hoping that this idea would work.
"How about he misbehaved with one of our knights?" Dami raised a brow when Etham pressed his lips.
They both stared hard at each other for minutes but it felt like an eternity to Ethan who was losing under the pressure, Damien's eyes were emitting.
"I will stage the plan, you do not need to worry. You only need to enter the scene at the last moment as everyone's savior."
