Damien sighed. He had mentally come to a conclusion that Kira was senile and nothing could change his mind at this point.
As far as he knew, the story of how they had come to hate each other was a very general knowledge and everyone knew that the Silvermoon pack was responsible for the long-term enmity.
That was the only story Damien was aware of but unsurprisingly, the story Kira knew of was quite different from his.
On Kira's end, she's of the belief that the Silvermoon pack had killed their Alpha's Luna which is exactly what started the exhausting enmity.
"The real reason behind our Pack's hatred for each other? You mean you do not know?" Damien asked with an amused look on his face.
Kira folded her arms across her chest. "Of course I know the story of you crackhead and I know that your pack started this war." She hissed
They both glared at each other before looking away from their faces in annoyance.
"Well, from what we were told growing up, the story is quite simple. According to the records, our Alpha, a lover of peace and harmony, had gone to make peace with your pack and your pack members had used that to their advantage and had murdered him in the most brutal way." Draco chimed in, curious to know what story their own pack worked with.
"Well, doesn't that story seem a little off to you?" Kira asked with a questioning look.
"I mean come on, who kills anyone for no actual reason? Take a look at Damien, he could have killed me but he didn't because he's not that unreasonable even though he hates my guts, so why do you think your Alpha was killed? If he really was killed by us." Kira asked.
Draco thought deeply about her words. She was making sense but he wasn't sure if he should be trying to make sense of her words.
"What are you insinuating Alpha Kira?" Damien asked.
"I'm not insinuating anything about Alpha Damien. I'm just putting it out here that the story I heard is quite different from what he just told me. From my knowledge, your people are quite ruthless and your pack members have shown that to me numerous times." Kira replied with a shrug and Damien scoffed.
"Same thing goes for your pack missy. Your aunt literally wanted to kill me when all I did was help a freaking crybaby who suddenly thinks she's all tough and rough now because she's an Alpha!" He spat out mockingly, making Kira frown in disgust.
He was looking for ways to spite her and rile her up just like she did to him earlier and he was indeed getting to her.
Draco eyes moved from Kira and Damien who were glaring at one another with their fist clenched. He wondered why the moon goddess would even match two hot headed people knowing very well that it would be hard for any one of them to succumb to the other.
"The only thing I'll tell you is that my pack strongly believes that we are in no way responsible for this whole mess, so check yourselves darlings." Kira replied, getting sick and tired of having to defend herself. She started to feel physically and mentally exhausted.
Damien and Draco chuckled. "You must have heard all kinds of nonsense cause as far I am concerned, your pack started the war against our pack and that's just factual." Damien defended.
"Really? Tell me your side of the story and I will tell you my side of the story. It is quite glaring that your pack is nothing but a unity of rogue riff-raffs who always want power and would do just about anything to get even if it means, killing hundreds of innocent people. You people are haters of anything peaceful." Kira fired back furiously.
"Well you must be referring to your pack because everything you just said is exactly what you people are!" Damien defended.
"Well, well, well, I think you both should calm yourselves at this point cause I don't see how you two are supposedly going to work together to uncover any kind of truth when you literally just want to get on each other's nerves all day. Isn't finding a common ground the reason you're here, Alpha Kira?" Draco asked, wondering why in the world he had to be unfortunate enough to be in the middle of all this.
They both glaring at each other almost as if neither one of them had heard a thing Draco said and unfortunately for Draco, he couldn't even walk away and let them be to avoid any kind of physical altercation.
"By the way, I am not a cry baby!" Kira snapped back at him defensively. She may have been one in the past but she definitely wasn't one anymore. Her first and last encounter with him taught her that she shouldn't always sulk over everything because at the end of the day, you need to always be strong and prepared for the worst.
"Ha ha ha! Indeed you're not." Damien said sarcastically and Kira immediately closed her eyes and took in a long, deep breath. She knew she shouldn't be dragging any issues with him but she couldn't help it. He was so annoying.
"You know what, scratch all of this and listen to me. After what happened, you know, us finding out we're mates and all, I actually started to wonder why in the world the moon goddess would pair us together knowing how impossible anything is between us and believe me when I say, I don't like the idea but I can't be foolish enough not try to understand if maybe, just maybe something is wrong somewhere and that we're both in the wrong. Can't you just think about it for a second?" Kira said.
Damien signed as he decided to give her words some thought. He may not like her but he couldn't help but understand the logic behind her words. Why truly would the moon goddess even make them a pair? He may not be superstitious or heavily invested in anything spiritual but he knew for a fact that he could not disregard the absurd situation on ground.
"So, what exactly does all this sum up to according to you?" Damien asked.
"The only thing I'm saying here is that maybe there is more to this long term feud that we are yet to uncover. There is so much I believe we don't know and that is why I think the story we got may be either manipulated, exaggerated or worse, completely false. At the end of the day, we only know exactly what we were told." Kira replied.
Draco stared at Kira with an intense look in his eyes, he could tell that Kira was pretty smart. No matter how much hate he had for her pack for killing his younger brother, he couldn't help but agree to the fact that everything sometimes felt off. The entire situation was still very much unclear and the constant fighting had definitely done more harm than good.
"Just to be extra clear, I don't like you. I hate you." Damien said firmly.
"The feeling is mutual buddy." Kira replied.
"Even if we do end up finding out that everything we've grown to understand is false and manipulated, I still want absolutely nothing to do with you. You still absolutely irritate me and I'll never accept that you're my mate, ever." He added, wearing a serious look on his face.
Although Kira definitely had no romantic feelings towards Damien, his words still stung her more than she'd like to admit cause she, like every other girl, grew up waiting and wondering who her mate would be, how he would look like and how they would connect and the fact that she has to deal with someone like him made her feel even more miserable.
She swallowed a lump in her throat before clearing her throat.
"Listen Damien, there's absolutely nothing we can do to change the fact that we're mates. I personally could care less about it so there's no need to bother with setting any kind of boundaries." She said to him, hating the fact that he was actually being harsh with his words on purpose just to make her feel bad.
"I get that it's not in our hands and I'm okay with accepting that but I don't want you too close to me. I have someone I love dearly and hanging around you will only make her uncomfortable. You and I are simply acquaintances and once this discussion is done, we'll have no business with each other ever again." He replied and Kira could feel her heartbeat rise in both anger and pain. She wasn't angry at him, she was angry at her fate for getting stuck with him.
She could understand where he came from but it still felt like a huge blow to her pride as a woman and as an Alpha.
"Don't worry Damien, I respect that very much cause I also want absolutely nothing to do with you." She gulped.
"So are you in?" She asked, trying hard to control her breathing so they wouldn't notice her discomfort.
Damien groaned. "I just made it clear to you that I am not interested and I won't be doing anything concerning the feud between our packs. I don't want any problem so let's just leave things as it is at least for now and kindly take your leave."
Kira kept quiet for a few long seconds. She had realised that talking to Damien is like talking to a freaking brick wall. The dude is way too persistent and shallow minded.
"Have you ever heard of creatures cursed by the sun?" Kira asked suddenly and the skin between Damien creased.
"Creatures cursed by the sun? What in the world are you talking about? At this point Kira, you are not only getting on my nerves, you are choking me with your presence as well!" He spat out tiredly.
"You are unbelievable." She fired back.
"I know I am and trust me, I do not care so can you please leave?" He retorted.
"I'm sorry Damien, I want to, I really want to because I have swallowed enough insults for a day but sadly, I can't. You are my mate and we are destined for one another and I'm gonna be sticking to you like glue. You either help me out here the easy way or I'm spreading the word." She blurted out childishly.
Kira had come to the conclusion that if she wasn't going to easily change his mind, she'd use other means to get to him and what better way than subtly threatening him.
She was pretty sure her aunt must have told her pack members her whereabouts which would make them not make a move or attack the silvermoon pack and while she is here, the silvermoon pack would also not attack her people which was a huge relief for her.
She also planned to use that as an opportunity to find out the real reason behind the feud between their both packs and she refuses to let Damien over here ruin her entire plan.
"You won't dare!" Damien said through gritted teeth and she grinned.
"Oh, watch me my dear mate." She replied to him firmly with a sly smile.
Both of them engage in a glaring contest for a few minutes but Damien later gives in as Kira wasn't planning to back down and he was also starting to get exhausted.
"What is it you want?" He asked in a defeated tone.
"Simple! I want us to become one." She replied.
Damien laughed sarcastically. "One? Are you daft or something? Did you skip the part where I said I have someone and I do not plan on leaving her for any stupid match made by the moon goddess?" He hissed.
"Why don't you just go ahead and fight the moon goddess when you see her? If you're so mad about it, pick a fucking fight with her and not me, but in the meantime," She drawled before she suddenly got up on her feet and started to walk towards him.
When she was standing close enough to him, she leaned in and whispered in his ears, "Where is my new room mate?"
