Chapter 25 - Home?

I awoke with a throbbing head. My visions gradually clearing, and the first face I see is Holden's.

"Where am I?" I ask with a grunt, sitting up, feeling light headed. "You're safe." Holden whispers, instantly by my side. I look up to see Kylan behind him. Sitting comfortably on a rock.

"What is he doing here?" I ask, voice slightly high.

"He's here..." Holden starts.. but Kylan cuts him short.

"To take you home." He finishes with a glint of warmth in his eyes.

"I don't buy it. How can we be sure you're not another psycho trying to kill me?" I ask him, not pulling out of Holden's hold.

"Calm down now," Jax says, noticing how stressed I'd become.

"Well, I'm not." Came the scumbag's simple reply. I arc an eyebrow at his arrogance, typical.

"How do we get there?" Jax asks, and I scrowl  in annoyance. Holden stops me with a reassuring hand on my shoulder. Which fortunately, calms me down.

"I'll get us there quickly, using the wind to boost our speed rate. As it seems, the demons are already hot on your tail." He says, shrugging his shoulders as he gets to his feet.

"They know what I am." I whisper, looking down at my hands.

"In that case, we better get moving." Kylan says signaling for both of us to get up.

Jax immediately gets into the bag pack which Holden slung over a shoulder. When on his feet, he stretches a hand towards me.

I stare at his outstretched hand, still contemplating if it would be right to take it.

When he notices I'm hesitant, he looks into my eyes and says: "trust me."

I guess that was all I needed. With a sharp inhale of air, I take his hand and he pulls me to my feet.

He holds onto me while using the other, to hold onto Kylan.

"Hold on..." Kylan says, with a hint of humor in his eyes. Just as a gust of wind surrounds us in a fierce storm.

Moments later, the fierce storm clears, but I'm still holding on to Holden without realizing this.

He clears his throat, "umm... Mystic, we've arrived." His voice is soft, I could feel his breath by my ear.

He was probably too close. I flutter my eyes open, and I was right; he was too close for comfort.

I jerk away from him. I clear my throat, feeling heat rising to my cheeks as I try to distract myself by looking around.

That's when I realise that we were at shore, in front of what seemed like a bottomless great ocean.

"Are you love birds done?" Kylan asked without sparing a glance at us both. I could feel my ears burning now.

"Could you tell us why we're here?" I ask, quickly diverting the question he had asked.

"Home." He whispered.

"What?" Holden says, walking towards Kylan before scanning the area himself.

"This is open sea..." he suddenly pauses as if realization had dawned on him.

Jax comes flying out of the bag pack.

"We're going to jump in, aren't we?" He asks, and Kylan hums in agreement.

"Oh no, no." I say, staring him down with folded hands.

"Relax," he says folding his arms across his chest, subconsciously mimicking my gesture.

"You won't drown." He says, giving me a glare with a deadpan.

I relax a little, as he creates an air bubble for us all.

And with a leap, we all jump.

But as Kylan leads the way, he says something that has me thinking.

"We better hurry, or your sister would definitely kill me."

Sister?

I have a sister?
