Chapter 53 - As long as the king lives, the war is not lost.

Amon wanted Roxanne to rest. His curse could also be solved later. Roxanne, however, would not hear of it. She dragged Amon into a room to break the curse there.

As an expert in the field of curses. She saw how serious and powerful the curse was.

Personia, in the meantime, took advantage of the opportunity and performed the feat together with Eric. To process a cursed power feather. She was not allowed to touch it.

Roxanne and Personia started their work at the same time. Personia needed only ten minutes thanks to Eric's help. Roxanne, on the other hand, had much more to do. It took a whole hour to break the curse.

Amon realized again how incredibly strong his wife was. She used her blessing for a full hour without interruption. When she was finally done with all the torture, she sat down and rested. She had used way too much mana.

Amon, on the other hand, wouldn't even think about resting. His guild was the frontier; he wanted to see how far Personia was.

When he arrived at the lab, Personia explained to Amon that she was already finished and expanded on the information about how the item now worked.

"Alright. It wasn't planned, but the item has now created a barrier that shields the entire castle. It is now impossible to be teleported in or out. As a side effect, we are now also unable to use the warp crystals."

Amon understood everything and continued with a very important question.

"How long does it stay active?"

Many items have a duration of effect. The only thing left to clarify was whether the chalice had a duration and, if so, how long.

"The duration of the effect is as long as there is water in the chalice. If this water is empty, the shield is deactivated immediately. With the current amount of water, it should last for about 5 hours."

Amon was happy about this news. Something disturbed him nonetheless. It was too quiet. Everything went by way too smoothly. Even if Leon was still in the hands of the enemy. Amon knew that Leon was not easy to kill. Aiko and her father, Hiroshi, were also nowhere to be found. But both of them were strong, and Hiroshi was a protective father. He would fight a mana beast, then see how his beloved daughter died.

But there was still a feeling that did not let him go, and exactly this feeling that something was not right here would already prove itself in a mere 10 minutes.

Niles, who has already fully recovered, slammed the door to the lab open and told everyone the news: "Amon, we have a problem. The king is here."

"What!" Amon couldn't believe this; if the king was here, something terrible must have happened. Amon rushed out with Niles and Personia to see the king. Eric stayed behind and wagged out to the goblet.

Amon rushed down the hallway until he walked around a corner and saw a man in his early fifties. He was bold and had a long beard. His clothes looked expensive and pretty. But the thing that caught most attention was a big bloodstain on his white clothes. Amon could see how the king's left arm had been cut off previously.

Amon turned towards a man with a black mask and armor who appeared to be his guard.

"What happened? Why is the king here?"

The guard answered in an instant, "Roud, about 45 minutes ago, Verdan soldiers appeared all over the Silverwood kingdom. They came out of nowhere and took all the cities, castles, guilds, and even the capital at lightning speed. I just managed to save the king and bring him to the last place, together with a few soldiers, who were the only ones who did not fall into the hands of the enemy.

Amon understood what had happened. Persona said that it only took them ten minutes to process the power feather and upgrade the chalice. Which meant they couldn't teleport into the guild because of the shield.

Amon explained this fact to the bodyguard and continued with a question of his own.

"How many soldiers could you take with you?" Amon understood the seriousness of the situation. The entire country had already been taken. But the war was not over yet. The war was not over until the king died.

They now had to defend the Glide while recapturing land and killing the king of Verdan.

"Me from the bodyguard and a total of 300 soldiers are here right now. The rest are either hiding or already dead." The bodyguard understood one thing. Amon was now his last hope. He and his guild now command the largest fighting force in the country.

"Niles takes the king to a treatment room. Royal Guard, you come with me."

Amon's orders were now law. He and the king were now at his mercy. One mistake, and that was it. He knew that Amon would still hold a grudge against the king and his kingdom for everything that had happened to him so far. He had to obey every order without error. He knew that Amon could kill him at any time.

Amon took a voice shell out of his pocket and ordered every coat of arms, except for Niles and Victor, Björn, and Isabelle, to come to the hall of crests.

It didn't take long, and Roxanne, Vlad, Personia, Dorothea, Cedric, Meng, and Jeanne were all in the room.

Amon wasted no time and explained the case to everyone. The other five crests, who were not present, listened to everything via voice shell.

"Well, now that you know everything, I would like to ask a question to the king's bodyguard right from the beginning. Do you want to recapture the land or flee with the king? Decide and be aware of the consequences of this decision."

The Royal Guard understood what Amon meant. It was his guild that was at stake. However, he could rebuild this guild anywhere else. It would be much easier to flee, hand over the king, and start anew in another kingdom or empire.

But this decision was not difficult for the Royal Guard. "I originally grew up on the streets and was close to death. The king saved me and then made me his bodyguard. Even though I know you hate this country and the entire world, I still love this kingdom and will give my life to protect it. That is why I will take it back. Even if I have to do it all alone."

When Amon saw how serious the bodyguard was, he couldn't help but fight with him.

"Well, in that case, let's take back this land and win this war. Arthur, give me a map."

Arthure was about to take out the map when Personia put a glass stone on the table. The glass stone produced a picture of a perfect map. Personia briefly explained its functions. It can reproduce any map that was once stored in it. The map can be enlarged in certain places by dragging and dropping.

"I developed this map when you were in Nasia, Amon. I call this item the perfect map."

Amon was no longer surprised that Personia, without hesitation, had made a groundbreaking invention. The Royal Guard, however, was very confused about the whole situation.

Amon looked at the map and opened the meeting to recapture Silverwood.
