Chapter 36 - Bruna's story

"Good, try to bring me on your side. Roxanne and Leon, I am really interested in how you two want to achieve that." Bruna sat down on a comfortable chair and crossed her legs while saying those words.

"Well, threatening you should work." In a matter of seconds, Roxanne let thorny ranks grow out of the office desk and stopped a centimeter before Bruna's left eye.

This method always worked; it's the method she used in order to threaten the priest in order to get married to Amon.

"This is a pretty interesting method, but I have to disappoint you. Death would be a blessing for me. I am not afraid of you."

Roxanne didn't react in any way to what Bruna told her. She did nothing for a few seconds and then pulled back the thorn tendrils. She was a bit surprised when she saw this reaction. But it wasn't too surprising. After all, she once said similar words.

Leon walked beside Roxanne, leaned against the wall behind her, and said something Bruna wouldn't have expected: "I know what Baron has in hand against you is better said than the things he has in hand against you."

"Wh-what do you mean with that?"

'This fucker he can't mean. No, he lies, right? There is no way.'

"That you are a fallen noble wasn't hard to find out, but..."

'No.'

"Your sister is something even more interesting. Isn't it lovely? You sacrificed many things in order to save her from becoming a whore in a bordel, and..."

'No, please stop. I got it; you won.'

"Then there comes your body trait, which was the reason why you broke up with your ex, and"

"Shut the fuck off already!" Bruna screamed at Leon with a face full of hate. But soon her expression changed. Bruna's face crumbled; her lips trembled; she rolled herself together, hugged her knees, and cried like a newborn child.

"Stop it; I get it. You have won. Now leave me alone." Bruna's voice trembled as she struggled to get these words out. She hugged her knees tighter and tighter; she wished someone was there to consult her. But she learned one thing: whatever she wished for in this world never happened to her. So she went silent.

Leon, slowly, I am starting to hate your methods more and more. Over these past years," Roxanne remembered the nice and wholehearted man he once was and walked over to Bruna. She said no more words and just hugged her. She ported herself away and left Leon alone in the room.

Sight

"It happened again."

In a room with nothing more than a simple bed, Roxanne hugged Bruna. She knew exactly what kind of cruel man Baron was. She could only imagine how much she suffered.

"Let it out; let it all out."

"Waahhh, this man created rumors; my family ruined it. My father screamed, my mother screamed, everyone screamed untile, untile all creambled."

"And."

"He wanted to sell my sister to a bordel along with my mother. My mother said I should help them. I did it and lost everything." Her cries became louder, her tears became more, her body trembled, and the memories became more.

"What have you done?" Roxanne knew that she had to face everything, and in order to do that, she helped her.

"A contract, he said, if I would sign it, my family would be saved. I did it, and my family was free, but I, but I." Bruna punched the air; she kicked the air; she tried to get out of Roxanne's embrace. She loved the feeling, but she was afraid. Every time she had hope, she lost more.

"They ran away and never helped me; they neglected my existence. I sacrificed myself and for what for nothing! I sacrificed my life; my life is ruined!" Anger and hate rose in her again. Her feelings were out of control; she was angry, afraid, and anxious. Her hands trembled. She wanted to hug Roxanne, but she also wanted to be left alone. She wanted to push her away, but she also wanted to get loved; she wanted to forget and, at the same time, remember.

"And when I fell, I met a man, my ex. I loved him; he was my hero. He loved me back until he found out about my body trait.", "But, but he threw me away, when he met a new woman." She let out everything she felt. She felt like laughing after thinking about how she felt. How can it make sense? How can someone feel all that? It was ridiculous.

"Can't I just die already?" When she thought back on her life. Was it even worth living? She didn't know where to go. To the left, where nothing was right, or to the right, where nothing was left. There was no place on this earth for her.

As she thought about it, she created a white, lowing dagger in her hand and tried to stab herself. Roxanne reacted and quickly snatched the dagger from her and pressed her down to the bed.

"Don't even think about it. I know what you are feeling; trust me, I felt the same. But what would it bring you to die? You fought, you suffered, you broke, and you shattered into pieces. But if you kill yourself, all these things are in vain. You would have suffered for nothing, crumbled, and fought for nothing. Baron would win. Life so that Baron can lose everything. Please life."

Roxanne cried, but why? Why would she cry for me? Is it part of her plan? Or does she care about me? No, there was no way.

What Bruna didn't know was that Roxanne saw herself in Bruna. She knew that she was going to kill herself. She saw it in her eyes. Eyes she saw for years whenever she saw her reflection. She saw the eyes of someone who wanted to die.

"You know, revenge isn't something that bad." Roxanne wasn't crying anymore. She was smiling. She smiled a happy smile, a smile that everyone would fall for, and so did Bruna. It wasn't romantic feelings she felt. It was a feeling of safety and comfort. Was she also able to smile like that when she got her revenge?

"No wonder Amon fell for you with a smile this beautiful." Now she knew why Amon could only look at her, and after seeing that, she longed for someone who could love her like this.

"Well, I was the one who fell first, but I think he fell harder later on."

"Heh, good for you, and I will help you with everything you want. You just have to help me with my revenge." Bruna was not healed. She still felt miserable, but she wanted to go on and drag Baron to a worse hell than she was in.

"Good. Let's help each other." Roxanne smiled back.

And like this, a friendship between Bruna and Roxanne began that would last for a long time.
