A few hours later.
Amon, a few soldiers are coming towards us; they are from our kingdom. What should we do?"
Niles already saw the soldiers; he could see perfectly even with the eye patch over his left eye.
Amon said that they should let them throw. If they caused a confrontation, they could kill them at any time.
When the small group of soldiers arrived at the castle, one of them stepped forward, lifted his helm, and spoke in a strong voice.
"My name is General Most, and I am here asking you, Sir Amon Halon, if you and your guild are willing to help us in the war."
The cape of the general floated in the wind. He talked to him as formally as possible; having this man and his guild on their side would be a huge benefit for them.
Amon stood on top of the castle walls and shouted, "No!"
Only a single word: no explanation, no reason why, just no.
"Wait, let us talk inside and discuss this matter." The General screamed after Amon in frustration; he already thought that he would decline, but not even with an explanation why. This went against his understanding, and soon the gates of the castle opened.
Two maids stood now in front of the soldiers. The maids bowed down and instructed the man to follow them. They made it clear that they had to stay by them and were not allowed to go somewhere without them. If they did so, they would take this as a provocation and attack them. Sweat went down the faces of the soldiers. All of them were well-trained magi, but they were still afraid of two maids. They followed them inside, walked through a door, and got teleported into a room. The hall of crests is a room where only the twelve coats of arms and Amon were left alive.
"So, General Most, give me even one reason why I should fight with you together in this war." Amon sat on his seat with his fingers entangled in each other. He was serious, and everyone of the soldiers could feel that. They knew that they had put their lives on the line the second they entered the forest.
"You are a citizen of this kingdom, and as a citizen of this wonderful kingdom, you should have even a little sense of duty to fight in this war."
General Most spoke with a proud voice, saying that he would be ready at any time to give his life for this kingdom and for its king.
"Ahahaha! This wonderful kingdom treated me like I should have never been born. Until a month ago, you had no idea that I could even use magic. This kingdom never did even a little bit for me. So was that everything?"
Amon could only laugh after hearing this. He always questioned why people could feel such pride for their kingdom, country, empire, or whatever. They sacrificed their lives for people who don't even know their names. The people in this kingdom always treated him like garbage, or worse. He had no feeling for something like that.
"Usually, opening a guild is free for someone, but when I wanted to open this guild, I had to pay 7 Million gold coins to the king. I tried it three years ago, and it did not work. A few months later, I met Leon, and the two of us thought for every single coin about getting something that was usually free for everyone, and even then I did not get it. I had debts from the king since then and paid them back five months ago." The story Amon told damaged him badly; the guild had to live for months in poverty, and without Leon and the others, he would have already been crushed by debts.
Amon closed his eyes for a short time, then opened them wide and shouted at the General,
"And you want me to fight for a kingdom like that?" The General went silent; he had nothing to say. He realized that this kingdom, no, this world, treated this man like a being that was less valuable than their shit.
Amon continued with another story.
"When I wanted to marry my wife, I wasn't allowed to; I had to wait. It was not allowed for a dirty and nasty man like me to marry a beauty like her. I could only marry her when my wife threatened a priest, who then married us."
Amon packed out only a few stories, but he was not satisfied; he wanted this man to know what he went through.
"When I was wounded, I was not treated. When I'm in a tavern, I can't sleep outside. All of the people in this kind of world treat me as if I am less valuable than their shit."
Amon grinned one last time and then said,
"And you did the same thing one and a half years ago. Do you know what you did back then?"
Most was taken aback, and then he remambered.
It was a year ago.
Amon walked into the capital of the Silverwood kingdom. He walked with Personia; she needed something in the capital, and Amon also had things to attend, so he decided to come with her. He had to clarify some things about a quest. But when he arrived at the restaurant where he was supposed to meet with his customer,
"You are not allowed to get inside." Most spoke.
"I have to do something with a customer, and the little girl next to me is hungry as well."
Amon was used to receiving such commands by now, but when he was in the company of someone, he usually got what he needed or wanted to do.
"That does not manner. The girl can stay, but you have to leave." The man said this with a smile on his face, but the intentions behind these words were clear.
"Why Amon is a normal man. If you are allowed to enter this place, then he is too."
"Haha!"
Most laughed aloud, right into the face of the little girl.
"It is only natural; he is he, and that is the reason."
Tears went down her cheeks, and she turned around and ran away. It was the first time that she defended Amon, and it was a big failure.
Back in the present.
"Back then, why did you do it? Maybe I would have helped you. But you made the girl, who is like a daughter to me, cry."
Amon leaned back, looked into Most eyes, and said, "I don't help you guys because you are you."
And then.
"Amon, the enemy is coming."
Niles voice was heard in the whole room.
"Most, you are a lucky man."
Amon said he jumped out of his seat and then walked out of the room.
"Everybody, on your position. The war began."
