Chapter 26 - Amon the executioner

10 minutes later, the hunting competition ended, and Amon was declared the winner of the hunting competition. The festival lasted until 11 p.m. When everybody was back in the imperial palace, everyone just got into their beds and slept until the next day.

Right now, Amon and Roxanne are eating together with Ruby at a brackfest.

"That you would really hunt a demon tree down. I wouldn't have thought that." Ruby ate a piece of meat, and in the midst of her eating, she talked with Amon and Roxanne. She has not often had guests with whom she can talk comfortably. Amon's direct way of speaking may be rude, but he did not lie, and she could also talk to him without always thinking about what she would say next.

"What I did was not impossible; it is only a B-mid-Rank monster. If someone like me lost against something like this, I would bring shame to my whole guild."

Amon knew that every single one of his steps could affect the reputation of his guild and its members.

"What event or festival will be held today? After all, today is the second day."

Amon stopped eating and asked this question: He was curious.

"Today is the flower festival. I am unable to attend the event. After the first emperor of Lunasol gifted his loved one the head of a powerful monster, he got a flower as a present from her the next day. The commoners in this country held this festival. If you want to participate in it or see it, you are free, but I have to attend an execution."

Ruby was a little sad that she could not go to the festival. Usually, she dresses as a commoner and attends the festival, but not today because of an execution.

She had to prepare many documents and find someone who would execute them.

"But in this empire, the executions are something like an event everybody is free to watch."

"And why was he sentenced to death?"

Amon was asked out of curiosity. In general, he was not interested in convicts or executions; he just wanted to be sure about the legal situation in this empire. There are, after all, many kingdoms, empires, and whatnot that would allow a person to be executed for completely arbitrary reasons.

"This man raped seven women and was not caught until today."

Ruby's face darkened just at the thought of a person doing something like this, and now she was fired up about attending the execution of this bastard and later on going to the flower festival.

"I will watch."

Amon declared. He wanted to see the executioner. He knew one thing: every execution in this empire

Clan Morioka: An ancient samurai family known for their harsh and relentless enforcement of Imperial law They have a long tradition as the Empire's henchmen and are feared for their efficiency and precision in carrying out executions.

Ruby nodded, and Roxanne also said that she wanted to go with Amon, and three hours later the execution began.

"Jack Assho, you were found guilty for raping seven women. Do you have any last words before you die?

Ruby sat on a huge golden throne. She read the words from a scroll.

The man who was to be executed had a dirty cloth tied around his eyes, so he couldn't see anything.

"Yes, I should have done it one more time before coming here."

The man said Ruby, Roxanne, Amon, and everyone else who was there had to hold back their urge to throw up after hearing the man's words.

Ruby gave a sign, and soon a young woman walked towards the side of the man. It was the women that Roxanne saw at the hunting contest.

She wore the same samurai kimono and had her katana on her waist. She walked next to the man, took her katana out of its sheath, and held it high above both her heads.

"Wait!"

Amon shouted, and the woman stopped doing what she tried.

"Princess Ruby, don't you see that this man regrets nothing? He laughed when he said his last words."

Amon pointed at the man who was about to be executed.

"Then show us how he would regret it. If you can Show us how he regrets what he did and then dies his miserable death,"

Ruby opened her arms wide and spoke to Amon with a mocking voice; usually she liked his straight-forward personality, but not right now. He made her angry.

Amon opened the gate and showed it to everyone. He created a simple katana using the path of the blacksmith and continued walking towards the death sentence.

He removed the dirty piece of cloth from the man's face.

"Thank you, buddy; you probably want to be with me when I do my next thing. You are free to do that, but first help me get away."

The man thought that Amon wanted to help him. But he was wrong; Amon came down here in order to bring him the worst dispair.

Amon kicked the man's knee with a bone-shattering strike. The man felt like his left knee had broken completely, and in a matter of seconds, he did the same with his right leg.

The man fell down and now lies in front of Amon.

"Ahhh!"

The man screamed in pain when he saw how Amon slowly walked closer to him. He trembled; he tried to crawl away, but in the attempt, Amon just stomped on the man's arm and shattered it.

Amon took the man by the head and lifted him up. He held him only by his head.

Look, you should see the god of death standing right now somewhere."

"Ahh! Who is this?"

The man pointed at nothingness while shearing and trembling out of fear.

Oh, there he stands. You know, I also saw him four years ago. But I survived, but do not worry; you will get to know the privilege of seeing his face the moment you die."

Amon threw the man back on the floor so that he could lie on his stomach and cut his head off.

He cut not only the man's head, but he even cut right through the floor.

When he was done, he picked up the head and showed it in the direction where the man had pointed before. In the last few seconds, the man only saw the creature in front of him lift the hood of his cloak and see his face—the face of death that only the dead knew.
