Chapter 4 - Will Evans (II)

While growing up, young Will Evans always knew that he was strange. Strange in the sense that he would always see strange globes of light, flowing across the people, from and too the trees. Whenever he told his parents about it, they would say that he was just imagining it, even leading them to taking Will to the hospital. The doctors were obviously puzzled, as they found no sign of abnormalities within him, yet he was always behaving oddly.

This kept on happening, until one day, young Will took a glance at an object. That object was the very puzzle sphere that his father kept in his study. The glowing orbs of light seemed to keep on entering the puzzle box, and after glancing at it, his ability suddenly halted. It seemed as if it was a black hole or something, for the flowing light always went in, but never came out.

This intrigued young Will everyday, so much so that his parents once thought that he was possessed or something. This led to another visit to the doctors, of which, as before, came out as Will having no issues at all. This led to his father to just sigh, and let him keep the the puzzle ball to young Will. This then continued for a long time.

It would have seemed that young Will's life was going to be a monotonous, and smooth life. But fate had different plans for his family.

That day was dark, with thunder and rain pouring across the house. But oddly enough, it was more pronounced near their house, as if someone was targeting them. Andrew looked outside, to check on the weather, and what h discovered shocked him deeply.

"They found us..."

This was all it took for Maggie to question Andrew "Who found us dear?", While holding a bowl of coleslaw.

"Them, the traitors, the betrayers, the oathbreakers."

While keeping a steel face, Andrew rushed Maggie towards Will, and told her to take him and escape, along with the steel ball. "They want the steel puzzle, as I should have suspected long ago, they must have known about it being it in my possession for them to come here. You must take Will and the puzzle and run. Run as far as you can, I will distract them long enough to do so. And honey, don't turn your head, whatever may happen. Just run. Take the tunnel in the basement, they should not know about it."

With these cryptic words, a bewildered Maggie hugs Will, takes a all of their daily necessities, and rushes down to the basement, along with Will and the puzzle. She wonders around where the tunnel could be, when all of a sudden, a flash of bright light is seen, from where a never-seen-before tunnel forms. She remembers her husbands warnings, and with tears in her eyes bids farewell to Andrew, and starts running through the tunnel.

Will asks his mother "Where's daddy?", to which Maggie replied with "He's coming later dear." But just a second later, a large explosion is heard from above, along with a roar, as it seemed that two primordial beings were duking it out with each other. With a silent sob, Maggie took Will, and ran to the exit, where a brand new truck was waiting for them. She hopped in, started the engine, and started driving to somewhere far away, all the while still sobbing, without turning her head back.
