Kier stood, unmoving, looking at the space between the trees, towards the witch's house. Medes returned from somewhere at Kier's left and perched on a tree.
"You've been standing there for as long as it took me to hunt something to eat."
"It's those fries." Kier lashed. "How do I get her to leave but still get her fries?" As he thrashed about, a sudden ripple in the air, a resonance in the filaments of magic hit Kier. He smacked his own head to clear it. "Ow."
"What in Dit's absence just happened?" asked Medes.
Kier turned northward. It was impossible to see it due to the woods, but he looked directly towards a mountain. "Fools in dark, ancient places."
