Nine Days Later
It had been well over a week, and around school, the most talked-about thing was the party that one of the hot guys, Dazai, was hosting. He invited almost everyone, and I think he even invited you and Karma. One afternoon, he stopped you both in the hall, with a sly grin on his face.
"Hey, you two, interested in going to my party this Sunday?".
You turned to Karma, both of you grinned at each other. "Yeah, sure, we'll come," you said in unison.
Dazai handed each of you an invitation card with the time and address on it. "Great! See you there!" he said, giving a flirtatious wink before he headed off.
Sunday
Come Sunday evening, you stood in your room getting ready for the party. A few dresses lay across your bed, each one perfect for what you needed. After some debate, you decided to wear this beautiful pink mid-length dress that set off your style to perfection. Finishing your makeup, you headed out the door, only to find Karma standing there waiting for you.
"Oh! Karma! Hi! Are you here for the party too?" you asked because this little flutter of excitement kindled within you.
He gave you his usual charming smile. "Hey, (Y/N)-chan! Yep, I thought we could go together. What do you think?"
"Yeah, that sounds great!" you replied as you closed the door behind you to join him on the sidewalk.
On the way
As you walked together under the streetlights, Karma glanced over. "So, how've you been?" he asked casually.
"I'm good, you?" you replied in high spirits, happy with the ease of the vibe.
"Good too," he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "So… do you like drinking?"
You laughed, somewhat taken off guard by his question. "Yeah, I don't mind a drink. You?
"Kinda," he said, grinning. "But I definitely like a lot of it!" he said with a mischievous wink.
After about twenty minutes of walking and light conversation, you finally arrived at Dazai's place. The house was buzzing with music and chatter; the light spilled onto the street. Standing at the door was Dazai's girlfriend, Sara, to greet them both.
"Hello, thanks for coming! Come in, come in!" she greeted you, leading you both inside.
At the Party
The party was full of people; the music was loud and cacophonous. Everybody was dancing and seemed to be having a good time. You and Karma made your way to the edge of the dance floor and watched the energetic scene in front of them. Karma turned to you after a little while, his eyes glistening with mirth.
"(Y/N)-chan, wanna dance with me?" he asked, offering his hand.
You smiled, feeling the rush in your heart. "Okay!" you replied, taking his hand.
The two danced for a while until I found myself releasing all my inhibitions. You drank a drink, then another, and within what felt like a few more minutes, another. By 11 p.m., it had hit. You were laughing, but the room was spinning, and you could barely balance yourself.
Karma caught it immediately, concern flickering across his features. "Uh, (Y/N)-chan, are you alright?" he inquired, steadying you with a hand on your shoulder.
You let out a drunk snort, swaying around. "Of course I am okay, red-haired baby boy! Why you worryin' so much?"
He raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "You're most certainly not alright. And it's getting late. Let me get you home," he spoke in soft tones.
"Aww, come on, don't be a buzzkill, Karma!" You pouted, even though you were stumbling while trying to keep dancing.
He sighed but nodded, not wanting to ruin your night. "Fine, but I'm staying with you the whole time. I don't want anything happening to you."
"Yay, let's dance, baby boy!" you cheered, and he chuckled, guiding you back out onto the dance floor.
The End of the Party
After another hour of dancing and laughter, the party started to break up. You had added two more drinks to the night, and by now, you could hardly walk correctly. Karma was by your side, steadying you as you leaned heavily against him, arm over his shoulder. His hand clutched firmly around your waist caught you from stumbling.
As the two of you were on your way out, Sara and Dazai waved from the door, beaming. "Thanks for coming tonight! See you at school tomorrow!" Sara said with a warm smile.
Karma, supporting you with one arm, gave a polite nod. "Yeah, thanks! See you both tomorrow!" he replied, giving a little wave.
With one last smile, Karma led you downstairs and commenced the walk home. You leaned into him as the comfortable silence between the two of you became full, with only the echoes of shared, vibrant laughter against the night air.
