Chapter 4 - 3

Leaving the Party

As you and Karma stepped out of Dazai's house, Karma flagged down a taxi to take you both home. After about 15 minutes, the taxi pulled up in front of your house, but something felt off. The place was completely dark. With Karma's help, you pulled out your phone and called your mom to check in.

"Hey, Mom! Where are you? We're home, but the lights are off," you said, a hint of confusion in your voice.

Your mom's voice came over the line. "Hi, sweetie! I'm at your aunt's place. I won't be back until Tuesday, so it might be better for you to stay at Karma's and go to school with him, if he's okay with it."

Karma didn't miss a beat. "Of course, Mrs. (L/N). She can stay with me; no problem at all."

"Thanks, Karma! See you on Friday, (Y/N). Have fun and be safe."

"Bye, Mom," you said, before hanging up.

Karma gave you a reassuring smile. "So, looks like you're staying over for a couple of days. Let's go inside and grab some clothes for school and after."

Packing Up

You quickly gathered some essentials, a few outfits, and your school books. Karma grabbed both bags for you with a playful grin.

"I'll carry these," he said, slinging them over his shoulder.

You giggled, feeling the effects of the night. "Okaayy, my baby boy with the red hair! You're so cute, do you know that?"

Karma chuckled, clearly amused by your tipsy praise. "Alright, let's get going. My house isn't too far—just a 10-minute walk."

Arriving at Karma's House

When you arrived, Karma unlocked the door and led you inside. You'd never been to his place before, so everything felt new and exciting. He helped you up the stairs to his room, which was impressively tidy for a teenage guy's space.

You started feeling a bit off from the alcohol, so you slipped into the bathroom to freshen up. After a quick shower, you wrapped yourself in a towel and walked back into Karma's room. Karma's face turned slightly pink as he looked up at you, clearly caught off guard. You quickly grabbed your clothes and ran back to the bathroom to get changed but barely made it before you felt a wave of nausea.

Karma knocked on the door, his voice filled with concern. "Are you okay in there?"

You took a deep breath, trying to steady yourself. "Yeah… I think I'm okay."

He reached in and gently placed a hand on your shoulder, making sure you were steady. "Just let me know if you need anything."

After freshening up, you changed into shorts and a comfy T-shirt. When you walked back into the room, Karma was lounging on his bed, sitting cross-legged as he looked over at you.

"How are you feeling?" he asked, his voice soft and caring.

You gave him a small smile. "Better, I guess. But still a little drunk."

Karma looked at you thoughtfully, then took a deep breath, as if working up the courage to say something.

"There's… something I've wanted to tell you for a while. I think now might be the right time."

Before he could continue, a knock came at the door. Karma looked a little frustrated as he got up to answer it.

Nagisa at the Door

Nagisa stood on the doorstep, looking a bit sheepish. "Hey, Karma. Sorry if I woke you… I just came by to give (Y/N) her phone. I noticed she left it at the party, and there was no one at her house."

Karma nodded, looking a bit exasperated but grateful. "Yeah, she's here. You kind of interrupted a moment, but thanks."

Nagisa's eyes went wide. "Wait… did I mess something up? Were you two… you know?"

Karma rolled his eyes but gave a little laugh. "Not yet, but… I was trying to tell her something important."

Nagisa stammered an apology. "Sorry, sorry! I'll get going. See you at school tomorrow, man."

Karma closed the door with a sigh, returning to his room. He handed you your phone, his expression shifting back to that slightly awkward, blushing look.

Back in Karma's Room

You noticed he was acting different, quieter than usual. He kept glancing at you, a faint blush still on his cheeks.

"Karma… is something wrong?" you asked, feeling a mix of curiosity and nerves.

He shook his head, smiling slightly. "It's nothing. Just a little warm in here. I'll open a window."

You nodded, but something felt… unfinished. After a moment, Karma took off his T-shirt and lay back on the bed, his gaze focused on you.

Finally, he spoke up. "There's something I've been meaning to say, and… it's really important to me."

You felt your heart beating a little faster, waiting for him to continue.

He took a deep breath, his cheeks turning slightly pink. "I love you, (Y/N). I've wanted to tell you for so long."

Your face flushed instantly, your heart skipping a beat. You looked into his eyes and whispered, "I… I love you too, Karma."
