Verity's POV
"This is our information association that is polished into a luxury inn; we use a code of ethics if we want deeper and more comprehensive information, even if it is hazardous," said Mason explaining to me, who only paid attention to the entire contents of the first floor.
It was a loud and noisy, busy morning. Everyone was having breakfast and talking loudly. Annoyingly, I frowned disapprovingly. Moreover, even if one gets drunk early in the morning, I see more men here.
From the handsome to the ugly, no. It mixes with many races, and I notice several eyes staring at me walking in the middle of Delmira and Mason.
Delmira saw me uncomfortable pulling me closer, "Don't worry, no one knows our faces. Maybe they were amazed at how beautiful you are this morning, so you don't have to worry about anyone recognizing you here."
"Delmira was right; no one would dare to hurt you. I will guarantee it." Mason said to me too.
We were then greeted kindly by the servers; of course, this caught the attention of many people. As if looking at a VVIP customer, all this time, information association inns provide the same service.
And when I entered with Mason and Delmira, a big man was screaming in disbelief at being kicked out by two ELF-blooded maids at the reception desk. This big man was with two friends, too; the other was tall, trying to calm his friend down.
Meanwhile, the other stood with his arms crossed, using a hood without bothering.
"Tommy, calm down! It's your fault for making a fuss so early in the morning; we better get going if we don't want to lose the inn's members!" his friend said the big man's name.
"Shut up; I'm just asking the maids here if they want to date me. But instead, I was slapped and even kicked out of the inn, and do you accept that?!" Tommy replied; I was silent, staring at the commotion.
Mason whispered, "Sorry to make you see things like this." I ignored him and only saw Mason call one of the servers there, which made the three customers stare at us.
Boom!
I looked at the black hooded man there; I suddenly got goosebumps in horror. He's not ordinary; his aura is very familiar to me.
"Ugh!" I held my chest; there was an uncomfortable twinge as I tried to remember who had this aura.
Delmira immediately held my arms, worried, "Are you sick? I should have asked you first; sorry, after this, we can head back immediately—"
I stopped Delmira's sentences by raising my hand, "I'm fine. Just felt uncomfortable, but now it's fine." I said convincingly, but I saw the disbelief in Delmira's eyes that forced her to believe me.
Mason spoke to the maid; I didn't hear what he said to his innkeeper. Before long, the three customers left without making any more noise, so it turned out that the big man had not only asked for a date but kissed the small, half-blood female waitress and was terrified of being unable to push the big man away.
But I was wrong; we thought they had left peacefully. As we started walking back to enter, the big man threw a table right in front of us, which Mason immediately fended off, and five black-clad guards appeared out of nowhere and when they were here.
Surprised screams started to sound, and the dust from the table that was thrown hit me. Delmira hugged me and asked me to enter.
"Keep the customers out and compensate them," said Mason giving the order; then I no longer know what happened.
Because I was brought inside by Delmira, only the sound of fighting was a loud crash. Delmira apologized to me for this mess; she promised this would not happen again.
I nodded; we were on the third floor of this building. This room is Mason's private office; I walked to the window to see the bustling market; a few people stood outside the inn building to watch; there was even the man in the black hood earlier who didn't even help his friend.
The man looked up straight to look at me, but I didn't move and turned to the dessert shop in my line of sight.
"Can we have cake at the shop?" I asked Delmira while pointing at the shop I meant.
Delmira smiled happily at my wish, "Of course. Anything for you." she replied, kissing me on my forehead; it felt good.
Delmira is like my mother; Daciana also often kisses me on the forehead every time she apologizes for being unable to buy what I wanted when I was small and being so naughty, asking for many things my mother could not believe. I smiled at Delmira, who looked so happy in contrast to the situation on the first floor; I saw someone bump into the screaming crowd. The tall man and his companions were chasing fear, the hooded man still looking at me before he smiled and held his two friends.
"They disappeared!" screaming rang out; I blinked, confused by their missing whereabouts.
"Teleportation, it's a power from a rare race that I thought had become extinct since it hadn't been seen since the past war," Delmira said.
Ah, which race is that? That power, can it be put to use for me as well?
Because sometimes, there are times when I want to disappear too. A knock sounded outside; I turned around and saw the maid pushing a trolley filled with snacks and sliced fruit.
"Introduce, my name is Toru. Information association innkeeper, I have ordered Mr. Mason to prepare snacks and make the cut while the master cleans up the mess downstairs. Ladies and gentlemen, please enjoy." said the maid with horns on her head.
Not long after, I ate and answered some of Delmira's questions about the people who used to bother me. I responded calmly until Mason came and kept apologizing to me.
I don't understand the apologies that both of them told me; I don't have a problem with everything that happened today.
"I want to ask one thing, may I?" Delmira asked again, even though this was the umpteenth question, but she still asked my permission.
"Please, ask anything," I reassured her again, with Mason sitting beside her.
"Who is the mate who rejected you?" Delmira asked slowly, but she saw me speechless and immediately added. "Ah! If you don't want to answer, that's fine. I want to know, who is the bastard male wolf that dares to make you even like this." she explained frantically.
I took one chocolate cookie and replied, "Jacob Night. He's the current alpha Moon pack; I hear he's even going to marry my best friend, Liliana Skyler. You were also invited there, right?" I asked at the end of the explanation.
Seeing how the two faces before me turned from pale to blue, and then a growl came from both of them, I was again at a loss.
Delmira and Mason look angry for what?
I've only known them for half a year; I'm not even their daughter. I was sweet and complied with their wishes as a form of my return for the treatment they both gave me.
