Chapter 23 - 23. The Hidden Beauty

“Have you ever imagined how I was able to beat the Special Military Squad at the Hilltop Bar within ten minutes? I can assure you that the security at the Walter International Conglomerates would not pose a threat to me.”

She paused, and looked at the CEO, who was speechless, and continued, “Let me inform you of this. You will take part in a Perfumery Competition tomorrow. Right?”

Now, Alfred’s eyes shone brightly, as though they would pop out of their sockets. Then, Hazel laughed sarcastically, and asked again, “If I can unravel the secret behind your sinus, and nasal disorder…”

Instantly, Alfred, who was struggling to be himself, was embittered, and he felt intimidated, and stood up at once from his couch. Nevertheless, his intimidating height scared Hazel out of her wits, but she still had faith in her spell. Then he interrupted her by screaming, “Stop.”

Instantly, his strong hand grabbed her throat, and she lost her eloquence immediately.

“You have been spying on me, and gathering much information about me, and you are trying to blackmail me. I hate it when people threaten me, especially women,” he thundered.

Then, his grip on her got firmer as each word left his mouth, as though the words pumped energy into his hand. Now, the eloquent Hazel was battling for breath, and he was not willing to let her go. Then, she gave him a pleading look, when she noticed that he was filled with anger. Subsequently, he glared at her for a few seconds, and loosed his grip on her, and roared, “You can leave at once. Next time, I cannot promise myself that I would spare you.”

“What about the spell?” She asked herself. Now, she placed her hand on her aching neck, and coughed. As though the cough healed the pains in her neck instantly, she smiled, and looked into his eyes before she declared, “Mr. Walter, I have a parting message for you…”

However, Alfred was still raging, and was not interested in her last message. He interrupted her, and continued, “I don’t care what you think about me, but I intended paying your grandfather a visit tomorrow. I am certain that I would find favor in his sight.”

Now, Hazel was dumbfounded when she heard his statement.

“It worked,” she murmured. Apart from the spell, she actually spied on him, and dug up his secrets and discovered his weaknesses, which aided her spell. Truly, he was passing through some challenges because the Old Pa Walter, who he owed allegiance to, had health challenges. Now, to make him happy, Alfred intended to accomplish his wish, and get a wife who he would call a daughter-in-law. Before his meeting with Hazel that day, he had planned to pay a visit to the Martin’s family, and choose a Princess.

Now, with the information, Hazel thought of how to see the old master. With her skills, she would no doubt convince him to recommend her as his pride.

Now, Alfred looked at Hazel’s innocent, but deceptive face, and processed all he had discovered about her. He concluded that she had a strong will to even think to dare the Walter's family. So, he thought she was the right bride for him because she could remove the hindrances in the Walter’s family. Then, he walked towards her, and asked, “Did you come along with any of your documents?”

Now, Hazel’s faced beamed with a smile of triumph, and without concealing her pride, she responded, “Yeah, I came prepared. I have with me my Personal Identity Card, and Household Registration Book. I did not leave any behind.”

At the Courtyard of the Stand Point Bar, and Resort

“You can take a break. I will drive,” Alfred said, and dismissed his driver, who drove to the vestibule the moment he sighted him walking out of the VIP Lounge with a beautiful lady, whom he could not remember when she got into the lounge. Then, Alfred opened the passenger’s door for his accidental bride.

“Thank you, for this, Mr. Walter.” She appreciated before she sat down comfortably in the exquisite Range Rover. Subsequently, he walked to the driver’s side, and got into the car. Then, he gave Hazel a love look, and teased, “Are you nervous?”

Hazel looked at him, and smiled shyly. Then she teased, too, “Not when you are the driver.”

Furthermore, they laughed happily at the joke. Without realizing that he was under a spell, he headed to the Marriage Registry with Hazel to have their marriage registered. Now, when Steve Drake saw him got in the car with a strange woman, he ordered the Special Military Squad that was waiting outside the lounge, “Fall in.”

At once, they lined up their cars, and drove behind them. Then, Steve’s car overtook him, and they communicated with a walkie-talkie, “Where are we going, boss?”

“We are going to the Marriage Registry at the Fifth Avenue.”

“I got it, boss.”

“Marriage registry? To do what?” Steve wondered.

After about fifteen minutes’ drive, Steve halted at the gate of the Registry, followed by Alfred and the Special Military Squad. He ignored the surprise look on the faces of his aids and security men. Likewise, he got out of his car, and walked towards the passenger’s door. Thereafter, he opened the door for Hazel, and they walked together into the Registry.

“What is going on?” The surprised Max asked Steve. “I'm lost here. How can the boss suddenly wish to get married to a stranger?”

“When did she get into the lounge, and where is the ugly lady?”

“Something is wrong somewhere, Max, and the boss is not aware of it.”

“You are correct. Let's watch and see the end.”

When Hazel noticed that Alfred's moods swung from elation to despair in a very short time, she reassured him, “Mr. Walter, I can assure you that this would be the best decision you would ever make in your life.”

He ignored her, and walked on, while she walked briskly to catch up with him. When she succeeded, she whispered, “I will make you the happiest and most successful man after our marriage. You can count on me.”

Meanwhile, she was aware of the trouble in the Walter’s family. Although, on the surface, they may appear polished as though all was well, but it was a camouflage. Inside, the family was a war front. When it was their turn, the Registrar called upon them, and they did the necessary things, and after ten minutes, they were out of the registry as a legally married couple. Now, Alfred, was unhappy, and he began to walk towards his Range Rover, but Hazel held him by the sleeve of his shirt, and said, “Alfred, let’s meet at home. I have one or two things to attend to.”

He ignored her, and walked on as though he had been cheated. Then, to make him smile, she sent an air kiss to him, and said, “We will meet at the chamber tonight. Prepare yourself and wait for my arrival.”

Now, her speech garnered a lot of attention which Alfred could not resist, and he smiled inwardly. He got into his car, and watched her as she waited for a cab, then regrets took over him, and he chuckled, “Why did I marry this silly girl?”

At the Martin Family Home.

That evening, the family members had converged at the dining table to celebrate Hazel's death, and they were having their dinner joyously. Now, Hazel’s father, Benjamin, looked at his two beautiful daughters with delight, and his wife, Michelle, assisted his second daughter, Sophia Martin, to fetch the fruits from the chaffing dish. The serenity of the family was that of a united and a happy family. Then, Sophia spoke, “Father.”

Benjamin smiled, and looked at her, before he responded, “Yes, Sophia.”

Then, she continued, “I wish to appreciate you and mom for sending Hazel, the misfit, away. Her absence had boosted my desire to eat.”

The family laughed heartily at her sarcastic remark about Hazel. Then, a thought suddenly flashed through her mind, and she blurted with annoyance, “Although, she had left, I am still scared.”.
