At that moment, Hazel was dumbstruck. She could not believe that Michelle could be bold to look at her face, and deny her deeds. Then, in the presence of everyone, Hazel resolved to uncover the secret which her stepmother had hidden over the years. Now, she looked straight into her eyes, and asked, “Michelle, what made you to think that nobody knew that you hired someone to dig up my mother’s grave?”
“What?” Benjamin, who had been watching his wife, and Hazel silently, screamed. He focused on his wife, and she covered up her track at once, “Sweetheart, do not take this frustrated witch serious. She had returned to cause trouble in the family.”
Meanwhile, Hazel ignored her deceitful talk, and continued, “Well, Michelle, I thought you would have been repentant, and confessed your sins so that we will settle the matter as a family. Since you are still unrepentant, I have brought this coffin to send you on a journey to the land of the dead so that you can be with my mother. How about that?”
Nevertheless, Hazel smiled broadly when she saw, for the first time, fear written on her stepmother’s face. Her daughters, who had been watching them, were shocked at the revelation, and the boldness in Hazel’s eyes. Now, Ella, who felt that her position, as the First Princess of the family was challenged by Hazel, and would not allow her to insult her mother, yelled, “You little, wench, who gave you the authority to speak?” Then, she hit the dining table, and ordered, “Leave now before I do something that both of us would regret. Can't you see that you are no longer part of the Martin’s family.”
Now, Hazel gave her stepsisters a repulsive look before she faced Sophia, who was trembling with fear, and said with a mockery grin, “I have almost forgotten that fools like you exist.”
Then she looked at the four of them with displeasure, and declared, “This shattered casket may look small, but that is all I need to send mosquitos like you to the grave.”
“Who are you to take the laws into your hands, Hazel?” Sophia, who almost got a heart attack, asked with fear written all over her face. She was surprised that Hazel could address her biological father as a mosquito. The entire family wondered how the timid and mediocre, suddenly became bold and repulsive.
'Where is her boldness coming from? Isn’t she an improper noun who was inferior to all of us? The lady whose nude photographs were on the school platform?' They thought.
“You taught me how to take the laws into my hands. I will only improve on what I learned from you,” Hazel replied sneeringly. Then, Sophia, who disliked her like a disease, stamped her feet in a rage when she saw her intimidating her parents. She turned to the security guard, who was surprised like others, and ordered, “Security, bundle this imp out, and throw her into the general grave.”
Hazel looked at the annoying Sophia with a killing intent in her eyes. She could remember that it was the same tone that Michelle used when she ordered her security guards to kick her out of the Martin’s family a few hours ago. The security guard had tied her hands, and her feet, and humiliated her like a criminal. Now, she felt nothing but deep hatred against them. However, the advice that her mother gave to her before she passed on had been a source of her inner strength. It had kept her going, and helped her to take all their ill-treatment in her stride. She recalled how she found herself in that family, that hated her so much, and the last discussion that she had with her mother before her death.
Long ago, Benjamin was at the lowest ebb of his life, and found it difficult to survive. So, he pretended to put Michelle away, and married Hazel’s mother, Lady Charlotte Martin. He made her to believe that he was a free man who, loved her so much, but it was all a mirage. He married her with the evil intention of getting the techniques of her mother’s fragrance business. After their marriage, the perfume business helped him to stand on his feet again because the business grew in leaps and bounds, which made him to be outstanding in the perfume industry. Unfortunately, seven years after her birth, her mother was attacked by a strange sickness, and she believed that Mitchell was responsible for that. Eventually, her mother died. Before her mother’s death, she held her hand, and advised her on how to survive in the Martins family.
“Hazel, my daughter, I may not survive this illness, but my advice for you on how to succeed in the Martin’s family is to be tolerant, and avoid fighting with your sisters. Play the fool in all situations, and do not try to outshine them because nothing is worth dying for.”
“Thank you, mom. I will always remember your advice. But I know that you will survive the illness, you will not die,” Hazel responded, and looked at her mother, who was battling with the strange ailment. Meanwhile, her mother’s instructions had made her to live a life of mediocrity, and she had never bothered to compete with her two-step sisters in any way. Despite her low life, the entire Martin’s family, especially her stepmother, hated her. She could not withstand her presence in the family because it reminded her that her husband betrayed her because of her mother. While Benjamin, always felt guilty when he remembered how he deceived her mother. They felt that the only way they would be happy was to put her away. Meanwhile, her daughters were happy when Mitchell succeeded in drugging her, and sent her to the bar, where over a dozen men were to use her for their pleasure. Subsequently, they concluded that Hazel was already out of their way because they believed that the men succeeded, and she was dead.
Now, she had succeeded in marrying Alfred, and had returned to take her position as the third Princess of the Martin’s Family, and allow those who had caused her pains in the past to have a taste of their medicine.
“We can talk it over, Hazel,” her father pleaded, when he saw the determination to kill in her eyes. Then, her stepmother, who still believed that she could subdue her, was adamant, and she blurted, “She is a spineless pauper, she can do nothing, Benjamin.” Instantly, the wind lifted the pieces of the shattered casket off the floor, and they began to fly in the air like a kite. Nevertheless, the family members tried to take cover by bending their heads, but it was useless. The shattered casket cut their faces, necks, head, and hands. The security guard who, tied her hands and legs, was not spared. Within a twinkle of an eye, her haters were bleeding excessively. Likewise, the pieces of the old casket were poisonous, and they were infested with deadly ailment on the spot.
At Alfred's House.
Indeed, his family was a war front. He wondered how the news of his secret, and impromptu marriage with Hazel got to many, especially his female admirers and grandfather, Old Pa Walter. Unfortunately, Alfred was not aware that his siblings, who had eyes on the throne, snitched on him because they had their secret agents among his security squad. It was obvious that they were responsible for the loss of his sense organ, and its restoration, which was manipulated by them through Hazel, was temporary. Nevertheless, they furnished Hazel with his secrets, and she used them to her advantage. The news got to them the moment he got out of the court with Hazel, and they informed the old man, who sent for him at once. When, he got the message, he cancelled all his appointments, and paid him, a visit.
