“Grandpa, you sent for,” Alfred said, when he was before his grandfather. Now, he felt differently, but he was unaware of the cause.
“Yes, I sent for you. How are you?”
“I'm fine, grandpa,” he answered nervously, and fixed his eyes into his grandfather's weak eyes. Although he was bedridden, he was able to scan him. Then, he sluggishly sat up, and declared, “That marriage is null and void because you were not in your right frame of mind when it was contracted. Besides, the Third Princess of the Martin's family was not on the list of my marriage proposal with late Martin.”
Now, Alfred wondered how he got the news, and tried to explain, "Grandpa, but…”
“Before you say anything, go back to the court, and annul the marriage if you still regard me as your grandfather, and wished to be a member of the Walter's family,” he thundered. At that point, due to the energy he exacted while talking, he began to cough uncontrollably, and Alfred was felt guilty.
“Kindly calm down, grandpa. I apologize for upsetting you. Truly, I was not myself when I did it. I will do as you said.” Thereafter, he gave his grandfather a cup of the warm medicinal herbs which was in the flask beside him, and ensured that he was stable.
“How do you feel, grandfather?” He inquired after he drank the liquid.
“I feel better, my dear. Thank you for your care.”
“Think nothing about it, grandpa. I will leave for the court now.”
“It is all right.”
Alfred got out his grandfather's chamber, and left for the court, and his siblings, who eavesdropping on their conversation, were disappointed. They hoped that he would be headstrong because Hazel had the capability of healing him, and insist on marrying her, and Old Pa Walter would disown him.
After one hour, he returned with the marriage annulment certificate, and handed it over to his grandfather.
“I have done that, grandpa. Here is the evidence,” Alfred said, and handed over the certificate to him. He collected it, and read through. Subsequently, he commended, “That is good, son. I know that if you were in your senses, you, would not disobey me.”
“I am ashamed of myself, grandpa. I don't know what came over me.”
"It is all right. Tomorrow, we will visit Sir Benjamin Martin, and you will choose a bride from either the first or second Princesses.”
“I got you, grandpa,” Alfred admitted. He took another look at his father, and helped him to lie properly. Afterward, he returned to his house to meet many noble ladies, waiting for him, and they had many mouthwatering offers.
“Alfred. Marrying that unintelligent, and good for nothing third Princess, is an error. Marry me. I'm your class.”
“Marry me, Alfred, and you will find peace.”
“Alfred, I'm the right woman for you.”
“My family is full of warriors, we would help fight your enemies.”
Meanwhile, Irene's who was at the gate also, had a different motive. She had come to inform him in advance of the age coming party of her daughter, which she planned to organize the following year. She was surprised to hear that he got married that day. Meanwhile, when she heard the rumors that the marriage was annulled immediately, she was hopeful, and waited along with the other women to try her luck.
Alfred had hoped to have a rest, and ponder over all that took place that day, but it was impossible. He had no choice but to make a detour to a hotel.
“We are returning to the Resort,” he informed Steve.
“I got it, boss.”
The life of a Public Figure had its ups and downs, and it affected him badly that day.
At the Hotel
That night, Hazel had accomplished her vengeance on her family, and gladly wished to meet Alfred at the chamber to consummate their marriage.
“It is a double celebration today. I have taken care of the nincompoops, and I will be the Young Lady of the famous family,” she thought with glee on her way to Alfred's house. To her chagrin, she met over a hundred noble women at his gate, and she appeared like a rat in the midst of elephants.
“Are you his janitor?” One of the rich ladies inquired. Hazel looked at her rival, and was short of words. Then, the lady continued, “I will retain you as our janitor if you let me know his whereabouts.”
Notwithstanding, she turned back in shame, and could not think of anywhere else to go since she could not access his house. In her confusion, she heard a familiar voice, “A good evening to the Young Lady of the Walter's family.”
Although, she was not acquainted with the new title, but she felt good, and proudly responded, “Hello, Vincent. How may I help you?” She responded with the comportment of a royalty.
“I can see that you have come to see your husband.”
“Yes, of course. But I can't access the gate. What do I do?”
“It's simple, but are you aware of the rumor that he annulled your marriage?”
“I am not aware. But just like you said, it must be a mere rumor.”
“I got it. All the same, he asked you to meet him at the Stand Point Bar and Resort. He is in Suite 29.”
“I got it. Thank you for the information,” she appreciated, and left with superiority over the attention seekers at the gate. The informant, who wished that Hazel would appeal the marriage annulment, and Alfred would offend his grandfather by accepting her back, was glad to see her leave for the suite with joy. Nevertheless, she believed that the suite was for their honeymoon because she had informed him earlier that they would meet at the chamber that night, and that he should prepare himself, and wait for her arrival.
With Alfred's view point that morning, Steve and Max were not strict with Hazel when she showed up. She simply greeted them, “Good evening. I wish to see my husband. He sent for me, and he is in suite 29,” she declared. Now, with the information she had provided, the deflated guards believed her, and let her in. Likewise, Alfred almost jumped out of the window when she showed up in his suite unannounced.
“Good evening, my husband. I hope that your day was pleasant,” she greeted happily.
'Grandpa was right. She must have cast a spell on me to accept her as my wife. How did she locate me if she is not with magical powers?' he reasoned. Then, he put up a false smile, and welcomed her, “Hello, Hazel. My day was pleasant, and yours?” He greeted, and waited for her to ask questions about the annulled marriage.
To his surprise, she did not ask, rather, she dropped her old purse on the table and announced, “My day was hectic, but I can't wait for us to consummate our marriage, and begin to make our unique babies.”
Alfred felt a dagger pierce through his heart when he imagined himself on the bed with the wretched desperado. Then, he put himself together and played along. “You got it. Make yourself comfortable.”
“All right, dear,” she responded cheerfully, and walked into the bathroom. Now, with his siblings, and the numerous ladies after him, his grandfather's wish, and the hyper desperate Hazel, Alfred concluded that he was not safe, and that his life and happiness were more important than the throne. Furthermore, he set out to escape from Nassau, and if possible, from the Bahamas. Then, he picked his phone, and other devices which were valuable to him, and walked out of the suite. He was aware that his squad was around, and had their eyes on him, but he had to take a step.
