Rosendo wasn't in a hurry, but Vanessa was getting anxious. She quickly said to Rosendo, "brother, please comfort her and make her stop crying."
"Why should I comfort her? Don't you know that she only likes me because she wants me to be her shield? I don't want a woman like her," Rosendo replied seriously to Vanessa.
"The teacher just now is the head of our class. If he speaks ill of you behind your back, there will be no hope for your graduation certificate," Vanessa explained nervously.
"He dares, if he dares to talk behind my back, I'll make him regret it," Rosendo said angrily.
"Bro, please do it for my sake and comfort her!" Vanessa held Rosendo's hand and acted cute while shaking it back and forth.
"I can ignore anyone else's words, but if it's my Vanessa 's words, then I must listen." Rosendo gently touched Vanessa's nose with his hand and smiled warmly.
Rosendo's warm gesture made Vanessa feel happy and sweet. What made her happiest was when Rosendo called her "my Vanessa ".
Turning around, Rosendo pushed Johanna who was still crying on the desk lightly with his hand. He said softly: "Hey there! Stop crying."
"I want to cry! What does it have anything to do with you?" Johanna didn't lift up her head as she spoke in tears.
Seeing Johanna still crying made Rosendo take out a lollipop from Vanessa's school bag which they bought on their way here today. He handed the lollipop over next to Johanna again before saying: "If you stop crying now then this is yours."
Johanna curiously turned around when she saw what kind of candy he had brought over; unexpectedly laughing at first sight of the lollipop. She said with a wry smile: "You're trying to bribe me with candy? Do you think I'm still a child?"
Seeing Johanna crying, Rosendo didn't expect her crying face to be so beautiful.
"Are you married?" Rosendo suddenly asked an unrelated question while Johanna was still in tears.
"I'm still a student. How could I possibly be married?" Johanna gave Rosendo a white eye.
"That's right, if you're not married, you're still a child. It's only natural for children to eat lollipops. Let me tell you, this is no ordinary lollipop. It's very expensive and costs 1,000 dollars per stick. And it's priceless too. Since I'm in a good mood today, I'll give you one!"
Rosendo pretended to be generous and handed the lollipop to Johanna while thinking to himself: "The price of the lollipop I took is whatever I say it is, so naturally it's priceless."
"Is it really that expensive?" Johanna looked at Rosendo curiously with her eyes wide open as she received the lollipop from him.
"Of course! Don't believe me? Try eating it," replied Rosendo seriously. In fact, this was just an ordinary five-cent lollipop but because Johanna came from a wealthy family she had eaten them before when she was younger but hadn't tasted them since starting middle school; therefore when tasting the flavor again now after such long time passed by made her feel like they were delicious once more - girls always love sweet things.
"Of course, you can try it if you don't believe me," Rosendo said seriously. Johanna actually opened the packaging of the lollipop and put it in her mouth. "It tastes pretty good," Johanna said sweetly.
In fact, this was just an ordinary lollipop that cost fifty cents each. Johanna had eaten them when she was a child because she came from a wealthy family, but since middle school, she hadn't eaten any more. So she had forgotten what they tasted like until now.
Vanessa was leaning on her desk and giggling constantly. She couldn't believe her brother Rosendo used a lollipop to coax their school's beauty queen into believing him.
Seeing Johanna's appearance, the students in Class 8 were all speechless. Just a moment ago she was crying so sadly, but after Rosendo handed her a lollipop, she stopped crying. If it weren't for the remaining tear stains on Johanna's face, they wouldn't believe that their school beauty could be so easily comforted.
In fact, Johanna is also a very stubborn person. The reason why Rosendo made her stop crying so easily is that he diverted the topic of conversation away from sadness and made Johanna forget about being upset.
"I did it! Look - she's not crying anymore," Rosendo turned his head and smiled at Vanessa.
"Shh...don't let her hear us," Vanessa whispered with her finger on her lips.
Unfortunately for Vanessa's reminder came too late as Johanna already heard what Rosendo said while taking out the lollipop from her mouth: "Wait! Wasn't I just crying?"
Johanna wanted to cry again after realizing this but didn't know why tears wouldn't come out anymore; perhaps the sweetness of the candy melted away all of the sadness inside of her heart already?
She simply put another piece of candy back into her mouth and comforted herself inwardly: "I ate his one-thousand-dollar candy, so we're even now!" If Johanna knew that the lollipop she was eating only cost fifty cents, who knows how she would feel.
"Let's go out and play," Rosendo felt bored in the classroom and wanted to see what this century's campus looked like.
"Okay!" Vanessa said happily. After speaking, she glanced at Johanna with pride as if saying: "See! My brother likes me. What use is it for you to be pretty?"
Johanna seemed to know that Vanessa was provoking her, so she stood up and said aloud: "I'm going too."
"I don't want to bother with you," Rosendo said indifferently before walking outside.
Vanessa quickly followed Rosendo. When passing by Johanna, Vanessa whispered to her: "Rosendo doesn't like rich girls, so give up on him!"
Johanna seemed to know that Vanessa was provoking her, so she stood up and said, "I'll go too."
"I don't want to deal with you," Rosendo said lightly as he walked outside.
Vanessa quickly followed Rosendo. As she passed by Johanna, she whispered to her, "He doesn't like rich girls, so give up on him!"
Feeling wronged after hearing Vanessa's words and recalling Rosendo's indifference towards her, Johanna retreated. She felt embarrassed about bothering Rosendo again because she thought it made her look cheap.
After Rosendo left the classroom, Harold made a move. He stood up and walked towards Johanna with a smile. Seeing Harold approaching her, Johanna immediately got up and ran outside while shouting loudly: "Rosendo wait for me." This sentence was intentionally spoken for Harold to hear.
"Such a shameless person," muttered Harold as he watched Johanna leave.
"What is this place? Oh...what is that place over there? So many people! Wow...is this a garden? It's beautiful..." Like an inquisitive baby who asks about everything they see, Rosendo kept asking questions.
Unbeknownst to him though was a beautiful girl secretly following behind him - none other than Johanna who had just confessed her feelings for him in the classroom earlier. For some reason unknown even to herself, Johanna suddenly became very interested in Rosendo; thinking that the previous version of him must have been pretending all along since he now exuded such manliness.
