Chapter 12 - Saving a Hoodlum

Miranda's classmates didn't bring that much cash, so they all borrowed from Letha. However, Letha didn't have enough cash either, so she transferred 9,000 to Rosendo's bank account through online banking. As for Vanessa, she was given cash directly because it was only 300 .

Today Rosendo earned a total of 9,000 and he was very happy about it. Although the money wasn't enough yet, he could buy some things first and then work as a tutor tomorrow to earn more money. By then he would be able to help Vanessa restore her beautiful appearance.

As soon as they left the apartment building, Rosendo said to Vanessa: "Nana, you go back first. I'll go buy something." He wanted to surprise her.

"Can't I come with you?" Vanessa looked at him expectantly.

"It's men's stuff and not convenient for you," Rosendo lied.

Upon hearing this, Vanessa blushed and said in a soft voice: "Then come back early."

"Okay! You go ahead!" Rosendo nodded his head.

Rosendo arrived at a large pharmacy and bought many medicines, which made the doctor in the pharmacy suspicious of his intentions. This caused Rosendo to explain for a long time, describing their uses and effects before the doctor finally sold him the medicine. When Rosendo left, the doctor even gave him a business card, saying that if he really developed a cosmetic product that could treat acne, he should give him a call.

"Get out of the way! Move!" A boy dressed in colorful clothes ran quickly, pushing away pedestrians who blocked his path from time to time.

Behind him were several other boys also dressed in colorful clothes chasing after him with weapons such as iron rods and knives. "Monroe, you bastard! If you have the guts then don't run!"

"What the hell? Do you think I'm stupid? Even immortals would be killed by all of you." Monroe cursed without looking back. He regretted not bringing his buddies along; otherwise things wouldn't have been so bad.

Woo-woo - the sound of motorcycles approached. Three motorcycles drove very fast and stopped in front of Monroe with screeching brakes. The bald man riding one of them shouted angrily at Monroe: "Why did you stop running? How come my motorcycle is faster than you?"

"Baldy, we're all just hoodlums on this street. Give me some face," Monroe pleaded with an embarrassed look on his face.

"I'll give you face? Who do you think you are?! When I was hanging around here, your kid didn't even know how to play with mud yet! You ruined my mood today so I'm going to break your hands and feet." Baldy sneered coldly at Monroe.

Rosendo stood outside the pharmacy holding two bags watching this fight unfold before him. He had never seen such a fierce battle between hoodlums in the 21st century before! He wondered if it would turn into a bloodbath.

Monroe regretted being heroic because he got into trouble with Baldy when he saw him harassing a female waitress at a bar earlier. Outraged by what he saw, Monroe confronted Baldy but they ended up fighting. He thought Baldy was alone, but he didn't expect that his other henchmen were all dancing and partying nearby. When Baldy shouted, more than ten hoodlums rushed towards him. Monroe was alone and had no choice but to run.

Monroe looked around for a way to escape when suddenly he saw Rosendo standing outside the pharmacy. As a student of New Mountain University, Rosendo was well-known in the area so Monroe recognized him immediately. He shouted loudly at Rosendo: "Rosendo, call the police quickly! Someone wants to kill me!"

Rosendo was taken aback, thinking to himself, "Does this person know me? Could it be a good friend of Rosendo from before?" Regardless, he decided to save him since the man recognized him. Pretending not to hear Monroe's words, Rosendo walked into a 7-Eleven with two bags in hand and left them at the counter. He then went inside and bought a bag of flour. When he came out, he saw that Monroe had already started fighting with some thugs.

Monroe was quite skilled; Rosendo could tell that he had learned karate before. Sneaking into the crowd (people love watching fights), no one dared to help despite so many people gathered around. People really have to rely on themselves sometimes.

With a small bag of flour in his hand and a hole drilled underneath it, Rosendo suddenly rushed towards Monroe when he got close enough. With his left hand pulling Monroe behind him, Rosendo swung his right arm holding the bag of flour over their heads as its contents flew everywhere like snowflakes - blinding all those thugs who thought it was lime powder.

When the dust settled after the flour dispersed in mid-air, there was no sign of Monroe anywhere."Where did Monroe go? Find him for me! If you can't find him then don't bother coming back!" The bald guy roared angrily upon realizing that Monroe had disappeared.

Rosendo and Monroe ran out of the crowd and took a bus together where an excitedly grateful Monroe said: "Rosendo! You saved my life today! From now on you are my brother! If anyone bullies you just let me know - I'll chop them up!"

"Ah...so we weren't familiar with each other," exclaimed Rosendo surprisedly as he thought they were well acquainted!

"Hehe...brother if you say that way then it sounds too formal between us," laughed Monroe heartily. "I didn't know you before, but now we're like blood brothers!"

"How did you know my name?" Rosendo asked curiously.

"I'm also a student at New Mountain University - I'm in my third year studying journalism. You are famous on our campus; everyone knows your name! If it weren't for some of your quirks, you would have become a legendary figure at our University," explained Monroe.

"Oh, that's how it is. Well then, I'll be going now since my things are still at the supermarket!" said Rosendo as he stood up to leave.

"Hey, don't go yet! Those thugs might still be there. Let me call someone to help you get them!" worriedly exclaimed Monroe.

"No need - they're just a few small-time thugs and I haven't even put them in their place yet!" replied Rosendo nonchalantly.

"Driver, stop the bus please," shouted Rosendo loudly.

After getting off the bus and taking another one back home again later on, when Rosendo arrived where Monroe had fought with those thugs earlier he found out that they had already left. He went into the supermarket and bought some delicious lollipops which were Vanessa's favorite so these were specifically for her. Afterward, he retrieved his stored items before heading home.
