"But... but..." Vanessa didn't know how to explain it to Rosendo. While Rosendo could afford to eat his fill, she couldn't. Her father had a heart condition and needed medication every day just to stay alive, and both her brother and herself needed an education. She was the sole breadwinner of the family, and if she didn't work hard to earn money, their household would collapse.
"Just listen to me; you won't regret it. Let's go shopping at the mall now and buy some decent clothes," said Rosendo as he dragged Vanessa along with him.
Rosendo didn't take Vanessa to any high-end clothing stores because he couldn't afford designer clothes. Instead, they wandered around the bustling city until they found two tight-fitting shirts, two pairs of slim-fit pants, two pairs of leather shoes that were reasonably priced yet still good quality for only 1000. Additionally, Rosendo bought a dress for Vanessa.
The next day, Rosendo woke up early. After washing his face and brushing his teeth, he started to put on the clothes he bought yesterday. Then he applied some hair wax onto his palms, rubbed them together, and smoothed it over his head with a comb. He was ready to go - a refreshed and handsome young man appeared.
Looking at himself in the mirror while muttering under his breath: "Now this is what I call looking like a person!"
After eating breakfast cooked by Vanessa, Rosendo followed her eagerly towards New Mountain City University since he wanted to see what campus life was like in the 21st century.
At the entrance of New Mountain City University stood several girls chatting away when suddenly one girl exclaimed: "Look! Isn't that handsome guy over there our beloved Rosendo? He looks so manly today."
"Ah...if only he really had some manliness," sighed another girl. Rosendo was known as the most handsome guy on campus, but unfortunately, he wasn't brave enough to stand up for himself when bullied.
"Girls, shall we go tease him a bit?" suggested one of the girls. They often teased Rosendo like this before which made him shy and timid around them.
While admiring the scenery of the 21st century, Rosendo suddenly found himself surrounded by a group of girls who began touching his face, waist and even holding his hand. His reaction was quick as he immediately assumed a fighting stance; however, these girls were gentle with him instead - complimenting how handsome he looked today while teasing him about being their boyfriend or confessing their love for him.
"So many suitors in college," thought Rosendo to himself.
Rosendo wasn't exactly an upright gentleman either since so many girls were surrounding and touching him all over his body that it would be natural for anyone to touch back. "Wow! You have such a great figure! Your chest is so big! Your butt is so plump; you must be good at giving birth... Hey hey... don't run away yet! I still want to chat with you guys!" said Rosendo jokingly after they ran off into the distance.
Vanessa covered her mouth while laughing: "I never expected you - someone who lost their memory - to be so bold. In the past, others used to tease you but now you're teasing them."
A group of male students approached Rosendo, led by Richard who was knocked out by Rosendo yesterday. To take revenge, Richard had been waiting for Rosendo with his gang at the university gate early in the morning.
"Rosendo!" Richard shouted almost yelling.
Rosendo and Vanessa turned their heads together. When Vanessa saw it was Richard, she instinctively pulled Rosendo to run away. She had done this many times before.
"Slow down, what's meant to be will always find its way. Running away is not a solution." Rosendo said gently to Vanessa. He wanted to get rid of this trouble caused by Richard as soon as possible and the easiest way was to scare him off with a fight.
"But...you..." Vanessa worried about leaving Rosendo alone facing these thugs.
"Don't worry! I promise I'll come back safely." Rosendo patted his chest and assured her.
Richard didn't want to bully a weak woman, so he cleverly let his men release Vanessa. She left while looking back three times.
"Brothers, bring Rosendo to the alley in front of us. I'm going to teach him a lesson," Richard shouted with great authority.
Two strong young men supported Rosendo and walked towards a nearby alley. Rosendo didn't resist, he even preferred to go to an empty alley. He wasn't worried about his safety because although he didn't have the same strong body as in the future century, his fighting skills and experience were extremely rich. It would be easy for him to deal with these college students who hadn't grown up yet.
In a dead end, Richard coldly said to Rosendo: "I'll give you two choices, either take off your clothes and walk around New Mountain City University or let me beat you into disability."
"I'm telling you, Richard, I am not the same old Rosendo anymore. You'd better choose peace because becoming my enemy is a very terrifying thing that will make you live in fear forever," said Rosendo icily as his killing intent grew stronger and stronger making it hard for him not to act on it.
"You think you're somebody? Brothers teach him a lesson!" Furious at being threatened by someone like little mouse-like cowardly-Rosendom who dared talk back at him like that; now even more infuriated after seeing how skilled he was, Richard decided to take him down today.
This time, Richard learned his lesson and let his men do the work while he cheered them on from behind. Rosendo didn't want to waste any more time with these small fries since class was about to start. He kicked off the wall on his left and then again on the right side's wall, jumping over Richard's henchmen in one swift move.
Richard saw how skilled Rosendo was and realized he couldn't underestimate him anymore. He immediately got serious and threw a punch at Rosendo's head as soon as he got close enough but missed when Rosendo dodged it by tilting his head slightly. In return, Rosendo slapped Richard hard with his right hand making a loud sound that echoed through the alleyway.
