Chapter 2 - Living with Beauty in a Bare Room

Vanessa was the first to react. As soon as she regained consciousness, she pulled Rosendo and ran desperately out of the school. It was now noon, and classes were about to start soon, but Vanessa didn't care anymore. Skipping class was better than being bullied by Richard and his gang.

Rosendo was now like a walking corpse, letting Vanessa pull him along. Looking at the scenes along the way - those vehicles that only existed in the 21st century constantly coming and going on the road - Rosendo could be sure that this wasn't a future century but rather the 21st century due to how many there were here combined with people's old-fashioned clothing.

Richard's lackeys dared not chase after Rosendo since they had just witnessed how powerful he was. In an instant, he had taken down their former idol who they had admired for so long. They couldn't afford to provoke such an unassuming person nor did they have any chance of winning against him.

"Boss, wake up...," Richard's lackey kept shaking Richard while calling out loudly.

Richard slowly opened his eyes and asked dazedly: "What happened just now? Why did I see Rosendo attacking me?" He still couldn't believe that he had been knocked unconscious by Rosendo; after all, he had been bullying him for over a year without ever seeing him fight back before.

"Boss, Rosendo really attacked you just now! And it was very powerful too! We wanted to help but he ran away before we could do anything about it. Otherwise we would've beaten him up badly." The angry expression on Richard's lackey showed that what they said earlier wasn't sincere; when Rosendo knocked their boss unconscious earlier instead of leaving immediately afterward gave them plenty of time to stop him from escaping yet none of them dared block his path.

Richard stood up unsteadily and pointed at his lackey while shouting loudly: "So many of you can't even stop a useless person like him! You've been with me for so many years, why are you still standing here doing nothing? Hurry up and chase after him!"

Richard's lackeys saw their boss getting angry and had no choice but to follow the direction Rosendo left in. While chasing after him, they complained inwardly: "He says we're useless, but he's even more useless himself. He was knocked out by that waste of space Rosendo in just one hit."

Vanessa pulled Rosendo out of the school campus and ran around for nearly 20 minutes before stopping. There were no tall buildings here; only tile houses built with bricks. " brother, let's go home. Let's skip class today." Vanessa panted as she spoke; it was the first time she had run such a long distance without stopping.

"Home? Our home? Where is it?" Rosendo also panted as he asked since running for 20 minutes made his body very tired. Since becoming a chief professor, he had almost forgotten what exhaustion felt like because various methods allowed him to make his body incredibly strong without having to go into battlefields anymore - making him forget about feeling exhausted altogether - which made him believe that he wasn't that crazy professor anymore.

"That's it! you didn't forget our home, did you?" Vanessa pointed to a simple tiled house in front of them.

Rosendo felt a bit dizzy. This was his home? How could it be so shabby? What was the difference between this and a thatched hut?

Vanessa walked up to the door of the house and took out her key from her pocket. With a click, she opened the door and turned around to wave at Rosendo: "Brother, why are you still standing there? Come on in!"

Rosendo walked inside and immediately asked Vanessa: "Excuse me, can you lend me a mirror?"

"A mirror? Don't you have one in your room?" Vanessa pointed to Rosendo's room curiously. She felt that something was off with her brother today. After being hit by Richard with an apple, he seemed not to recognize her anymore. Then he fought like an expert and knocked out Richard with ease. Now he even forgot their home and his own room. Could it be that he lost his memory after being hit by an apple?

Rosendo went into the room indicated by Vanessa and found a basketball-sized mirror near the window right away. He picked up the mirror and was shocked when he saw himself in it - smooth white skin with sharp features; deep black eyes shining brightly; thick eyebrows above high nose bridge; beautiful lips exuding nobility and elegance... Even though Rosendo dressed very plainly now, he still looked naturally handsome - even Rosendo himself was stunned by his appearance.

Vanessa entered Rosendo's room while having many questions in mind: Why did her brother not recognize her at school today? Why could he knock out Richard so easily? And why did he forget their home?

"Brother, what happened to you today?" Vanessa asked while looking at Rosendo who was staring into the mirror.

"Ah..." Putting down the mirror, Rosendo turned his head and saw Vanessa's red eyes and worried expression. He didn't know how to talk to this unfamiliar girl, but he could feel that there was a special connection between him and her in this body.

Rosendo's mind quickly raced as an idea suddenly struck him - since he didn't know why he became like this, why not pretend to have amnesia? "I... I think I lost my memory. I can't remember anything, including myself. Can you tell me?" Rosendo pretended seriously.

"Ah... You said you lost your memory?" Vanessa covered her mouth with her small hand in surprise.

"Yes, it's true. Although I can't remember anything from before, I can feel that we are very familiar with each other." Rosendo said.

After hearing what Rosendo said, Vanessa couldn't help feeling sweet inside. She comforted Rosendo for a while before slowly telling him about the past of this body.

It took two hours for her to finish the story and finally gave Rosendo a rough understanding of his current situation: This body had the same name as him - Rosendo; he lived alone because his older brother separated from their family years ago; his parents chose to live with his brother who owned a small shop in town and bought a van because they loved money more than anything else - they thought that living with the more capable son would bring them more benefits.
