Sofia panicked, not knowing what to do as Vincenzo's footsteps sounded closer. Slowly, she began to make her way back up the steps, careful not to make a sound even as her heart pounded frantically in her chest.
Much to her relief, Gabriel called Vincenzo's name, making him halt, the sound of his footsteps disappearing as he stopped to listen to his cousin.
But Sofia didn't wait to listen to what it was that Gabriel wanted to say to his cousin.
She high tailed it out of there like her ass was on fire.
