"What do you mean I didn't?" Sofia asked hopefully. After he had hidden the truth from her for so long, was it really going to be so easy to make him confess?
Sofia decided she would forgive him if he confessed on his own as she anticipated his reply.
"It was his own fault he died, not yours. He's dead because of himself, not because of you," Vincenzo explained, making Sofia's shoulders drop in disappointment. It was stupid of her to hold out hope that he would come and tell her the truth himself. She had to find out a way to do it since trying to guilt him into replying was obviously not going to work like she had hoped it would.
Sofia simply nodded at Vincenzo's words before getting up from his lap, suddenly wanting to get away from him as the heavy weight of disappointment and hurt settled into her stomach.
