Chereads / My Deathless System / Chapter 32 - 32. Power Throw

Chapter 32 - 32. Power Throw

The blunt sword materialized in his empty hand. It was heavy and to him, it seemed more effective for this job.

Noah smiled, viciously.

He raised his hand as the air around the heavy blade began circling it as if it was absorbing the air.

Swish-

Just like an arrow the blunt sword rains down on the bear, missing its head but digging deep into its shoulder blades.

The bear's eyes widened and a cry escaped from his mouth. His heavy body crashed down to the ground with a plop. He floundered to move it but he failed to move. Noah jumped off the tree with a red blade and a smile that could make any devil shy.

The blade sunk deep into the bear's throat which was exposed. He becomes lifeless.

We made it back to Storm Front, safely and without any casualties. Nobody was hurt.

The village party and so-called last resort of the locals who decided to band together and hunt the beast had successfully managed to take down the bear.

We brought back the big head of the brown bear to show the villagers that we did slay the beast and managed to free the village from the curse of Death Claw.

I laughed at first when I heard this tale from my gramps. Death claw and bullshit. I mean it's an animal and it's his natural Behavior to attack people that come into his area. Well even if it's the other way around. It will kill anything or anyone regardless of humans or animals as long as he perceives them as food.

But hearing about the tale made me question their rationality, anyway, I should not bother about it. I was no protector of humanity and didn't even want to unless I had something to gain in return.

As a part of being an adult, I got permission from my gramps to visit Stormfront whenever I wanted to... But the condition was to tell him beforehand so he would not panic and start searching the whole world for me.

Although this time he specifically forbade me to visit the village at any cost. He told me that we both would stay in our homes and would never go out venturing until the behemoth named Death Claw was dealt with by the authorities.

Just like he wanted us cooped up in our hut, he even did nor allowed me to go for a damn run unless I find a way to sneak out and complete my training to get my experience points. It was getting damn irritating staying always inside the hut but what worried me most at that time was the old man.

He was scared, I knew he was hiding something but had no idea he was dealing with his past trauma. The ghost of his past, the bear that killed his entire family.

He was trying to protect me by making me stay with him even after knowing I was grown up and had become stronger than anyone he knew. I was fucking stronger in the Stormfront, not to mention physically as well as mentally and also skillfully. Damn old man I cannot die!

He was reluctant to tell me about the beast, the same beast who had slain his family because he knew I would take things in my hand just like I did with his debt.

Nearly ten thousand gold coins, he had borrowed from the villagers and his friends to save the life of his family. We paid it back.

It was a different matter where his son got expelled from the Academy due to a secret reason that they refused to tell but they knew why. He had offended

a rich brat of a Nobel family resulting in getting expelled and even they came for his family. The old man had to pay a lot of money so he could save them but little did he know that a bear would take their life eventually.

What the shit! That fucking bear needs to die. He is the villain sent by the rich brat. Do they even influence animal behavior? This was what I pondered at that time.

After all that mishap and the deaths of his family members, the old man was living his life to clear his debt and give it back so the people who lent him money would not regret it. Thankfully with my help, we paid every coin back. I was glad I helped him with something.

"Giving up is not an option, we have to do what we want to do...regardless of what's at the front"

What noble words! But they went right above my head. Do not give up, do what you love and love what you do. Was this what he meant to tell? Heck, I should have read a few wise books.

The words did not hit me that hard but they were hard to forget.

But following his previous statement, I decided to do what I wanted to do. Kill the damned bear!

I hurried to Stormfront, tho at first I thought I successfully snuck out but the old man knew me too well. He followed me, all the way to the village.

Thankfully I managed to persuade him to let me join the quest and then made sure he stayed safe inside the village.

The head of the one-eye bear hung on a wall of the local inn to remind the people that their gods always protect them.

I protected them but never mind, they offered us nearly thousands of coins and even a great feast.

I sat at the corner at the local inn, taking a small sip of ale and ignoring all the noise of the feast. Shouting, singing, laughing, cheering, yelling, and crying. Did I mention dancing?

Back to my drink, the drink was sweet and bitter and warm. A widely famous ale around Britannia.

Are there any liquors in the world of Britannia? Yes but only for rich bastards. Commoners had to drink ale. Five gold coins per mug.

Well, I was happy to have that just like the rest. All the people around the village had gathered for the feast. Boys and girls and old men and women.

I caught sight of girls, peeking at me from time to time, while they chatted with people. The boys stared at me with a kind of scorn.

Those pigs are just jealous because I was getting all the attention myself. Huh! Kind of feels nice. Hehe.

"Toast for my grandson!" Shouted the old man, standing over the table as Stool fell over while he reached the top. "He killed the Death Claw and freed all of us"

Cheers followed his shout as they chugged down the mugs of ale.

"..."

This was for the fifth time to toast in my name. He was drunk and dancing like a clown.

I shook my head. I don't want to puke again for going over one mug, I know my limit and I will stay with my sobriety.

It has been two years since I came back from the tomb of Acropash. I have no idea what happened to the big burial ground after we cleared it, I was a bit curious and also thought of visiting it several times. I have the map of that place, but the reason why I wanted to go there was to see, what happened to it after we cleared it. I mean its purpose was served and according to game logic, it should cease to exist.
