Chereads / The Alpha's Slut Mate / Chapter 29 - Tell Me The Truth.

Chapter 29 - Tell Me The Truth.

Sitting close to the open window and staring out into space, gaze fixed on the sky in the direction of the moon was Noah three hours ago after his father's surgery. He had stayed up, waiting for his father's surgery to be completed, his expectancy was high that hopefully, the surgery would be a success.

The air felt a bit cold, constantly he rubbed his palms together to feel warm. Now and then the rattling sound of garden flowers and trees slapping its branches against each other sent a beautiful chilly scent that he constantly drew in.

Noah loved this scent, this cold, this calmness of the night and its serenity that brought a certain feeling to his heart. He still had a reason to thank his creator. Despite growing up in a broken home and surviving the life circumstances, there was still a flicker of hope he held onto.

If there was not, Doctor Peters wouldn't have emerged after so many years to come now and help in his father's surgery. That was a huge surprising blessing that he thought was rendered to him. Doctor Peters was renowned as the head of all the best in the field of medicine and also his father's trusted friend, he was sure his father would be healed.

Again if there was no hope, he wouldn't have gotten a friend so daring and caring as Becky. Remembering Becky's love and care, a soft sweet smile crept on his face. His heart felt warm with love. The time will come when he will get on his feet and be able to tell Becky that she was all he could ever ask for.

However, between his prayers and hope for his father's recovery was a deranged thought. A thought that brought anxiety. He felt empty like a big hole had been dug in his heart, he couldn't get Lux off his mind.

Lux was gone. Her departure made him feel lonely despite he still had Alcabab as his wolf.

And the words Lux left him with, made the sudden calmness he felt slip away.

What was it that this woman Lux talked about did for him? Was it greater than all Becky has done? If yes, does it mean that he owes his life to two women? Is it possible? Can he survive all these burdens?

Yes, he felt like the help he got had turned into a burden because he knew that he owed all that helped him and he must pay all that helped him.

This thought continued in his mind and when he couldn't grasp a possible answer to his questions, the chilling cold sent his head at rest. He fell asleep sitting on the couch.

Morning would bring a better answer to his questions, or maybe the eclipse Lux talked about.

Now fully morning, Becky could be seen staggering towards Alpha Maverick's room where she believed Noah was.

"And if you find out it's the truth, then you must agree to work with us. Agreed?" Sadie's question replayed in her mind.

At what Sadie and her uncle had told her, she was still torn inside. An hour ago, her mind was blown by those comments. A bag had formed under her eyes from the lack of sleep, but she didn't care; she needed to learn the truth first. For this reason, she had given them her straightforward response, "Let me find out the truth first, then I will know what to do."

After Sadie and Doctor Peters had spoken to her, she had come to this room immediately only to find Noah sleeping on the couch. Thoughtfully, she decided to wait until morning before she would trigger her questions.

It would be better if he answered her questions in the morning. At least at that time, his brain would be at ease, but looking at the time now, it was 9 a.m. yet Noah was still not out of his father's room.

Impatiently, she couldn't wait any longer. She opened the door and saw Noah seated in the same position she last saw him in, and still sleeping.

That was unusual for Noah. He must have been so exhausted and excited about the whole surgery which was just a facade unknown to him.

Slowly her eyes went down to his facial features where the morning sun sipping in through the window glittered on his hair and his lips, and absent-minded, she began to draw her finger towards his chest where his open shirt displayed his chiselled abs which always appeared hot and appetizing like freshly baked sweet tacos.

Gently and smoothly, she traced her fingers on his chiselled abs. For a moment she let her fingers linger there. Looking at him and feeling the goosebumps emitted from his always sexy body, her heart stopped beating a bit.

"Noah I know they're lying to me right? You promised me that I'm the only one you love. I believe in you, and I know you won't hurt me right?" Becky whispered, her voice ached with sadness.

"Let it be that you're keeping your promise to me, just let it be." Unable to control it anymore, tears went down her cheeks.

So drawn by her emotions, Becky moved her lips towards his. Just when she was about to leave a soft tender kiss on his lips, Noah began to mumble in his sleep.

"No Lux, don't leave me. Please come back to me. I love you and you know that please come."

Taken aback by the words she heard, Becky stumbled backwards and without knowing what was happening, she began to tremble so violently that her feet gave way to the floor.

"Lux?" Becky whispered, astonished.

Yes, she remembered Sadie telling her that the woman's wolf was called Lux and she had never for once heard that name from Noah's lips before until now.

That could only mean one thing...

"Lux, Lux. Please come back," Noah continued to shimmer in his sleep, "Lux!!!" With a forceful roar, his eyes flew open only to see Becky kneeling on the floor with tears slowly dropping down her face.

"B-Becky, are you okay?" Noah asked quickly between the heat running down his body. He was washed down with fear, he could feel his body ache all over him, and he knew it was because of Lux's departure that was affecting his body, making him have restless sleep.

In astonishment, Becky's eyes flared. "Lux? Who is Lux?"

A deafening stillness followed her question, accompanied by the anxiety and confusion that filled the air surrounding Noah.

"Why are you crying, Becky? Talk to me." Noah made to approach her.

"Answer my question first. Who is Lux?!"

Noah could see Becky's eyes turn red like she might shift at any moment.

'How did she come to know about Lux?' He asked internally.

Remembering Lux warning him to never let anyone know about her, he decided to act as if he didn't know who Becky was talking about.

"Who is Lux? A new person in the area?" Noah twitched a brow pretentiously.

Unknowingly to Noah, his questions only pierced more daggers into her fuming heart.

"The one that you now cry in your sleep, begging to never leave you! Now you get it?!"

Noah's brows raised in shock, he nearly jumped out of his skin and understood that his restless sleep had betrayed him. He was tongue-tied.

"So, you can't speak anymore?" Becky narrowed her eyes, her fist clenching.

"Lux...is..." His voice broke. That was it, that was all his tongue could let him speak at the moment.

"You still don't want to answer me?!" She roared, making Noah scuttle backwards a bit. She felt extremely disappointed. Her jaws clenched and fell.

So all Sadie and Doctor Peters told her was true after all. Noah has been making a fool out of her.

Noah's brows dropped, he could see her face crumpled, the grimace of her white teeth, the tears set wider on her cheeks almost touching underneath her ears.

Noah made to hold her up to comfort her, startled by this unusual action. He didn't know her to be someone who couldn't control her emotions.

For the first time, Becky became offended by his touch, She backed off immediately. But persistently, Noah drew her back against him until her clenched jaw rested on his shoulder. "Becky please listen to me..."

"The only thing I want is for you to tell me who that woman is?!" Becky forced herself out of his grip, pushing him with force, her eyes red with jealousy and anger.

Noah remained astounded and silent. 'We all will perish if you tell anyone about this' The words of Lux were like a magnetic force to his heart. A force so strong that it could tie his tongue in front of the woman he loved. The one who trusted him.

"You still don't want to tell me?"

Noah ran his palms on his face in frustration. "Becky. That name doesn't exist. I was having a rough time in sleep that had nightmares."

"And these nightmares had tied your tongue and left you in shock since I've been asking you? You now lie to me, Noah? You lie to me?!"

"No, I don't, you've got to believe me."

"You made me believe you won't leave me for her."

"For who?" Now Noah was blown out. What was really happening to Becky?

"You mate, Noah! Don't you dare act oblivious to what I'm talking about? You have been meeting with her all this while!"

'Good heaven! Who has been feeding her with such lies?!' Noah unconsciously bit on his lower lip.

"That's not true, Becky. Listen to me, you've got it all wrong." Noah could barely defend himself because, in the next moment, she had slammed the door behind her racing down the corridor and out of the tunnel towards the hill, Noah running and screaming after her.

"Becky, sweetheart. You've got to listen to me! It's not what you think!"

She abruptly stopped and turned to face him. "Then tell me the truth, please. All of it, Noah. I'm giving you the opportunity to explain who that woman you assaulted is. Don't withhold any information from me. Who is the woman you raped, exactly?"

'So it has finally gotten down to the woman I raped? Incredible!'

But he still needed to keep his calm.

"Okay, here it goes. Joseline is Pedro's daughter." His heart was beating faster in his chest. He was afraid of Lux's warning. He was not ready to perish but Becky was making it hard for him.

"Apart from that what else?" Becky's persistent question only made more blood rush down his veins.

Noah took a deep breath, meeting her intense gaze.

"Okay, let me put it straight forward to make to answer easy for you. Is that woman, you claimed you raped your mate?"
