Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

Marie's heart was heavy as she overheard the flirtatious conversation between Blake and Michelle outside the library. She slowly moved through the door and watched as Blake and Michelle walked off together arm in arm. The hurt and confusion that had been building within her finally reached a breaking point, and she couldn't bear to witness any more of it. With tear-filled eyes, she fled from the scene and returned to their room.

Inside their room, Marie moved with a sense of urgency. She knew she couldn't stay there any longer, not when the love and commitment she had expected from Blake seemed to be slipping away. In a flurry of emotions, she began to pack a bag, her hands trembling as she hastily gathered her belongings.

As she zipped up the bag and slung it over her shoulder, the weight of her decision settled in. She couldn't bear to stay and watch Blake's flirtation with Michelle any longer. Her love for him was undeniable, but she needed to find clarity and distance from the situation.

With her bag in hand, Marie rushed out of their room, her eyes filled with unshed tears. In her haste, she collided with Steve, who had been heading toward their room.

"Marie, what's going on?" Steve asked, his concern evident as he took in her tearful expression and the bag in her hand.

Marie's voice trembled as she struggled to explain. "I... I can't stay here, Steve. I need to go, at least for a while."

Steve's brow furrowed in worry. "What has happened?"

As Marie poured out her heart to Steve, explaining the hurt and confusion that had driven her to leave, Steve listened with empathy. He understood the weight of her emotions and the challenges she faced.

"I need to get out of here. I want to go home"

After she finished speaking, Steve reached into his pocket and retrieved a set of car keys. He held them out to Marie, a gesture of understanding and support. "Take my car, Marie"

Marie nodded, her gratitude evident as she blinked back tears. With a heavy heart, She took the keys.

"thank you" She whispered. Marie turned and headed out of the pack house.

As Marie drove away from the pack house in Steve's car, her heart heavy with the decision she had made. As she pulled out of the driveway, her eyes inadvertently landed on a sight that intensified her emotions. There, at the edge of her vision, she spotted Blake in the company of Michelle. The two of them appeared to be engaged in conversation, their proximity and body language sending a pang of hurt through Marie's heart. She pressed her foot on the accelerator and sped away towards the comfort of her home.

Blake looked up from the conversation he was having with Michelle and saw a blur of a black car racing away from the pack grounds. He thought nothing more of it and shifted his attention back to Michelle.

"Oh Blake. I have missed you" Michelle said as she stepped closer into his body.

"Would you like to grab some dinner with me?" Blake leant into Michelle and whispered in her ear. His breath causing tingles to spread though Michelle's body.

"I wont say no, to spending more time with you" She smiled.

Blake grabbed her hand and led her to his car. "I know just the place" he spoke as he climbed into the drivers seat and set off down the drive.

Steve was stood in one of the windows which overlooked the drive way. He had watched as Marie has driven away. He was about to turn away and find Blake when he spotted Blake and Michelle heading up the drive. Blake had Michelle's hand in his. Steve felt anger bubble up in chest. He had known his best friend make some mistakes but this may have been the biggest one yet. He turned away and stormed to his office.

Blake and Michelle arrived at a small cozy restaurant on the outskirts of the city. they were seated in the corner with only candle light illuminating their faces. Soft music was playing in the background.

"Wow, Blake this place is beautiful"

Blake smiled and handed over a menu. "my treat. Order anything you like"

The evening with Michelle had been a distraction for Blake, a temporary escape from the complexities of his thoughts and emotions. They had enjoyed dinner, drinks, and dancing, the night passing in a whirlwind of glances and small touches. The flirtation between them had intensified, and Blake had momentarily allowed himself to be carried away by the allure of the moment.

As he drove Michelle back to the pack house, their flirtatious banter continued, and he felt a fleeting sense of connection with her. The evening had provided a sense of excitement and lightheartedness that had eluded him in recent days.

Blake pulled up outside the pack house and helped Michelle out of the car. She wrapped her arms around Blake as he did. "Thank you" She whispered as she stared into his eyes.

"Your welcome"

"I wish this night didn't have to end. Would you like to come back to my room for one more drink Blake?" Michelle asked as she shifted her body and spoke gently into his ear and stroked her hand over his chest.

"tonight has been fun Michelle, but I am afraid it must end her" Blake stepped back to put some place between the two.

"until next time then my king" Michelle spoke seductively as she kissed him on the cheek. Michelle walked away casting glances back towards Blake as she did.

Blake stood for a few minutes in the cool fresh air of the night. as the feelings from the last few hours began to clear he felt panic rise in his chest. "What have I done?" He whispered to himself. Jet stirred in his mind but only growled in response before putting up a wall. he had no intention of talking to Blake. Blake wanted to get to Marie and take her in his arms. He needed to be with the one he loved. His mistakes starting to settle heavy on his heart. Blake ran into the pack house and took the stairs 3 at a time Wanting to waste no time in getting back to his mate.

As he stepped into their room, he was met with an empty bed. The realization that Marie was gone hit him like a tidal wave. His heart sank as he took in the sight of the vacant room and the bed which had not been slept in.

Panic and regret surged within him as he realized the implications of his actions. He needed to find Marie and come clean about where he had been.

Blake's mind raced as he frantically searched around the room for clues as to where Marie could be. His eyes fell upon the chest of drawers and saw that they had been left open and clothes were hanging messily over the sides and other items strewn across the floor.

As Blake frantically searched the room for any sign of Marie, his heart pounding with worry and regret, Steve silently appeared behind him.
