"Blake" Steve's voice rang out in the silence of the room. Blake spun around looking at Steve.
"Steve, Marie. She isn't here. We need to find her" Panic etched in his voice.
"I know" Steve said quietly, his voice carrying the weight of the revelation.
"We need to find her Ste....Wait. What do you mean, you know?"
"Blake, she has gone"
"Gone? gone where Steve? The panic that filled his voice before had been replaced by anger that was bubbling to the surface.
"She left!" Steve's own anger beginning to bubble also
"Left? Why would she leave?" Blake questioned as he began to pace the room and his heart sinking to the pit of his stomach.
"Why do you think she left?" Steve barked at Blake. Blake was taken aback by the abrupt Steve was talking to him. "She left, Because of you"
Blakes heart sank further as steve's words hit him like a bulldozer.
"Me?" he whispered.
"Don't you dare act like you don't know what you have done Blake. First you are cold to her this morning and then she see's you with Michelle"
"I was just letting off steam, Steve. It meant nothing" Blake frantically spoke
"Letting of steam? What when your mate needed you? After you left her in bed the night after she needed more medical attention! So you could go and mess around with Michelle of all people"
"How did she even find out?" Blake questioned.
"Is that seriously your first thought? you are more bothered that she caught you rather than the fact you actually hurt her" Steve's anger was now at the surface and he was struggling to keep his wolf at bay.
"you may be my best friend and King, But fucking hell Blake. I don't even know you right now"
"Of course I care that I hurt her. She is my mate" Blake roared at Steve.
"well you have a very fucking funny way of showing it. I half expected to find you fucking Michelle"
Steve's words tipped Blakes anger and he punched the bathroom door taking it off it's hinges and sending it crashing to the floor.
"I would never do that" He growled.
"You have a funny way of showing that" Steve snapped back.
"Where has she gone Steve? I need to go to her"
"She has gone home. but you need to stay away from her Blake. She needs time"
"but...."
"No! No buts Blake. Leave her alone. Give her some time. you spent the past week trying to prove to her that she was enough for you and in one move you have wiped all that out. I told you to go to sleep and forget those ridiculous thoughts you were having. Instead you go and act like a fucking idiot"
Steve's words hung heavily in the air. Blake's heart hit rock bottom as the realization dawned on him that Marie had left him. He had nobody else to blame this time but himself.
The guilt and regret welled up within him as he reflected on his actions from that evening. Blake understood that he had given into temptation when his own emotions were spiraling out of control. He loved Marie and never meant for any of this to happen. A Moment of stupidity may have just lost him his world.
Blake's shoulders slumped, and he ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "Steve, you're right," he admitted, his voice heavy with remorse. "I don't know what came over me" He admitted.
Steve remained angry at Blake. "I am sorry mate, but I don't know what to say to you this time. You really fucked up"
"Do you think, She will ever come back to me?" Blake looked at Steve with desperation written all over his face.
"She was broken when she left Blake. you broke her this time. Not somebody in your pack, not somebody in the human world or hell even her old pack. This was you"
Steve shook his head and walked away from Blake leaving him alone in the room he once shared with Marie.
Alone in his room, Blake sits on Marie's side of the bed. Her absence weighing on his heart. He pulls his phone out and presses dial on Marie's number. His call goes unanswered, Marie's voicemail rings across the silent room. Blake tries and tries again but each call goes unanswered. His thumbs tap away at the screen as he types a message. "Marie, I am sorry. Please answer your phone. Just so I know you are safe" he presses send and collapses down onto the bed. He tries one more time but this time the call does not ring, but instead goes straight to Marie's voicemail.
With each passing moment the weight of his actions bore down him. His mood becoming darker by the second.
