Steve stepped forward and placed his hand on Blakes shoulder. Linking him
"Do not fall. Do not show weakness"
Blake straightened as much as he could and asked again
"Marie...how...why....Please" His voice coming out broken.
"Blake i am so sorry, My intention was not to hurt you in this way. so much has happened in such a short time"
"Marie listen to me, he has done something to you. this is not real please.." with that Blake lurched forward and grabbed Marie pulling her into his embrace. Burning sensations begin to leak through her skin wherever Blake's hands make contact. The pain is unbearable. Marie gasps, falling to the ground in agony.
Jacob, reacting swiftly to protect Marie, growls with a mixture of anger and concern as he pushes Blake away from her.
"get away from her Blake. You are hurting her". He rushes to her side, his protective instincts kicking in as he tries to comfort her and assess the extent of the pain she's experiencing.
The pain that surged through Marie's body echoed with a familiarity that sent shivers down her spine. It was a pain she had felt before, a burning sensation that had once coursed through her veins when Jacob had touched her, but now it was magnified, intensified to an unbearable degree.
Marie writhed on the ground. Her body burning. Her hands pulled the blanket away from her revealing her naked body. Her The room seemed to spin around her as she struggled to endure the pain.
Marie's hands trembled as they instinctively searched for the black vampire marks that had once plagued her body, fearing their return. Her eyes filled with fear as she looked at Jacob, her heart racing, her vision becoming dark.
Jacob cupped her face in his hands. He met her gaze with a reassuring smile, doing his best to calm her.
"Marie, it's going to be okay. The marks are not returning. You're safe."
Jacob ran his hands over her body, pushing the mate bond into her skin to try and soothe the pain she was experiencing. Marie continued to thrash in pain, her vision becoming darker and darker. Soon the the thrashing stopped and Marie lay unconscious on the floor.
As darkness enveloped Marie and her body fell still, unconscious on the floor, Jacob's immediate concern was for her well-being. He swiftly pulled out his phone and dialed the number of Dr. Michael. The phone rang for what seemed like forever before finally Michael answered.
"Alpha, what can i do for you?"
"Doc, its Marie. We need you. were at her home. Get here fast"
"I am just at the university campus. I will be right there"
With that Jacob hung up. He swiftly lifted Marie in to arms bridal style and carried her over to the sofa. He lay her down gently and covered her with a blanket. He lowered down onto his knees by her side and stroked her face. waiting for Michael to arrive.
Blake remained motionless on the floor, his gaze fixed on Marie, his emotions in turmoil. Steve, understanding the gravity of the situation and the emotional toll it was taking on Blake, stepped over to his friend. He spoke softly, trying to convince Blake to leave.
"Blake, man, I know this is tough. But maybe it's best if we leave, let Jacob and the doctor take care of Marie. She needs help right now, and you need to a breather" Steve pulled at his friend trying to get him to move.
Blake growled, but his gaze remained constant on Marie.
" I am not leaving her here with him" He spat his words. "I am not letting him do anything else to her"
Steve stroked his hands through his hair and sighed before once again stepping back to corner of the room.
Michael arrived quickly, he marched into the room,. his gaze casting over everybody in the room and noting the atmosphere. He immediately rushed to Marie's side. His own anxiety pulling at his heart as he once again looked at the girl he had come to love like daughter lying motionless.
Michael began a thorough examination, checking her vitals and assessing her condition. His movements were precise and methodical. Jacob recalling the events of the last few hours in hope it may help Michael with his assessment.
Michael's brow furrowed as he continued to check Marie over, his experienced eyes scanning her carefully.
"alpha, Marie will be fine. she needs to rest. Considering her, erm...history i imagine she will be awake by the morning"
In a hushed tone, he shared a more private insight about her condition to Jacob
"I feel that may be a reaction. her body reacting to a bond it no longer wants" He wanted to ensure Jacob was aware of the complexities of the situation, but he whispered this part to keep it confidential, sensitive to the emotions in the room.
Michael had grown fond of Blake over the interactions they had shared over the past few months, and he understood the depth of the emotions involved. His own mind in turmoil at what events had played out in the room over the last few hours.
Blakes ears pricked up again at the word alpha being used in Jacobs direction. The last time he had seen him, when he was ripping him away from Marie he was nothing but an Alphas son. Strong but not a full Alpha. Now he was different. Steve had also heard the term and had made a mental note to learn what had happened at the Dark Moon pack for Jacob to now be Alpha. Steve was also wary as he felt a very strong energy coming from Jacob. One that matched that of Blake.
Jacob once again lifted Marie into his arm. Her head turning and falling against his chest. his heart beat increasing from having her near him. He carried her swiftly but gently up to her room and lay her down in the bed. Pulled up the duvet and placed a kiss on her forehead before he turned on his heals and back down stairs toward Blake.
