Blake continued to pace the room, his anger bubbling to the surface and Jet was threatening to take control. He wanted to rip though the pack until he found the she-wolf that had inflicted so much pain on his mate. Marie lifted herself of the bed slowly. Grimacing in pain she made her way gingerly to Blake and rested her hand on his chest over his heart.
"Blake....Please calm down" She looked up into his eyes and smiled.
Maries touched soothe Blake but not enough, he could not control the anger he was feeling. He slowly moved Marie's hand from his chest "I am sorry Marie I need to go for a run".
Blake left with outlooking back at Marie heading towards the forest. Tears fell down Marie's face as she made her way back to the bed. Her touch had always offered solace to Blake previously but this evening his anger was something she had not seen before and for the first time Marie felt scared of him.
Blake charged out of the pack house and let his wolf take over as he shifted in mid-air. As his paws hit the ground he ran into the forest. His anger continued to rage through his body as he felt the air rushing through his fur.
The pack link opened, and he heard Steve's voice echo in his mind
"Blake, what is wrong?"
"Nothing. Gone for a run" With that Blake shut the link. He wanted to be alone.
The day turned into night and Jet finally began to slow down, his anger dissipating as the freezing air began to wrap around him.
"We should get back to Marie" Blake said to his wolf. Without a word Jet turned and headed back in the direction of the pack house and his mate.
Blake quietly opened the door expecting Marie to be asleep but what he found was an empty room and bed. He looked around in a panic searching the room, when he heard the shower running in the bathroom. Relief washed over him. He went to enter the bathroom, but the lock of the door stopped him.
"Marie" He called out. nothing but the sound of water came back.
"MARIE" He shouted louder, but again nothing. He reached out through the mate connection, and he was suddenly taken back by pain washing over his body. Blake wasted no time and knocked the door of its hinges with his shoulder in one blow.
"DOCTOR MY ROOM NOW!" He barked through the pack link
He ran across the bathroom and straight into the water of the shower. There on the floor with the water washing over her was Marie surrounded by blood. Her head leaning against the tiled wall and her eyes closed.
"Marie" Blake spoke as he shook Marie by her shoulders. Maries eyes fluttered opened briefly "Blake" she whispered before they closed again. Blake picked her up and pulled her into his chest as he rushed over to their bed and laid her down.
The door to the bedroom burst open and in ran Steve followed by the pack Doctor.
"What happened?" The Doctor asked as he rushed to the bedside.
"I don't know, I found her in the shower"
The Doctor started to examine Marie and started to work on her wounds that had ripped open. After what seemed like a lifetime for Blake, the Doctor stood and turned to Blake
"My King, a number of her wounds had ripped open. This was the cause of the bleeding. I have cleaned them, restitched them and applied clean dry dressing"
"Thank you, Doc," Blake felt relieved.
"She needs to rest; her wounds are going to take time to heal" With that the doctor left.
Blake pulled the blanket up over and Marie and kissed her forehead before turning to Steve.
"Thanks for coming"
"No problem, I saw him rushing out the hospital and followed"
Blake walked over to the sitting area and threw himself onto one of the sofas.
"This is so hard Steve"
"What do you mean?"
"Since I brought Marie here, there has been nothing, but drama and Marie has been hurt" Blake signed "What if I was wrong to bring her here?"
"Are you regretting your decision?" Steve asked with shock evident on his face.
"No....Yes...Maybe... Oh, I don't know Steve". Blake let his head fall back and he stared up at the ceiling "She is my mate and I love her, but this world is dangerous, and she has been through enough"
"Any world is dangerous Blake. She is better here with us to protect her than out there in the human world by herself surely?" Steve asked.
" I cannot even protect her in my world Steve. That is my point. She was attacked right outside my pack house by somebody in my pack. The very same pack I told her she would never have to worry about"
"Blake, you can protect her. We will find this she-wolf and Marie will be safe. She is a part of this pack now too" Steve sat up and looked sternly at his best friend
"These last few days have been hard and exhausting. Get some rest and leave those thoughts behind mate"
"Your right, I need to sleep" Blake said as he stood up from the sofa. Steve did the same. Blake pulled his best friend in for a hug.
"Thanks mate. What would i do without you ay?"
"Ahhh you know. just make stupid decision after stupid decision" Steve laughed as he hugged his best friend back before leaving.
Blake walked over the bed and slipped out of his clothes before climbing in next to Marie. He noticed her body felt warmer than usual but thought nothing of it. He carefully pulled her into his arms. Marie disturbed slightly but her breathing soon levelled back out as she nestled into Blakes chest. Blake lay there with thoughts spiralling around his mind. Jet was also pacing in his mind. eventually exhaustion took over and Blake fell asleep with his mind and emotions in turmoil.
