Chapter 30 - Chp. 30 Spend the rest of my life with you

Camille had found out that her mother and father showed up to her graduation and heard her speech, they left after Camille received her diploma.

Dean knew that even though she didn't want to see her mother again, to know her mom and dad saw her graduate and hear possibly one of the most important moments of her life healed some of her inner child.

Dean obviously didn't like her mother, but he told Camille he would support her if she wanted to have a relationship with her mother.

Talking about her mother with her made him think of his father. Dean tried to act as though his absentee father didn't bother him. But honestly it hurt him that his father wasn't there, that it's been a few weeks now and he hadn't reached out at all. His heart hurt for his sister to know she'd have to deal with the same thing.

Dean's mother, Samantha, was in the process of divorcing him. She was waiting to get the documents. She had told him about it the one night and asked Dean and Daniella to go upstairs. But Dean didn't go upstairs he lingered outside the kitchen. To his surprise his father sighed, like a sigh of defeat, and accepted what she said and then left. He hadn't come back since then. That was about two months ago.

Dean promised himself that he would be at Daniella's graduation. However now that him and Camille were out of school, he was thinking about the next chapter.

Marrying her like he had originally planned. He was never able to get her a ring before. But this time he had the chance, and he couldn't lose it again. Dean had a ring on his mind right now, he was going to marry this girl.

He had been saving up his money the past few months and his grandmother had given him 2,000 dollars as a graduation gift. He had initially refused but she insisted and he ended up taking it and putting in his savings.

Camille of course had heard back from Yale and had a full scholarship. Dean had gotten a scholarship before. He applied there again like he had originally. He got a scholarship last time and hoped that the result would be the same this time.

His rejection or acceptance letter was supposed to come any day now. He couldn't help but be a little nervous.

He had only applied to one other college because he was so sure he'd be going to Yale, so far most of the things that happened were parallel to his previous life.

While he was looking forward to the future. The dream he'd had almost a month ago now still lingered in his mind. He had an ominous feeling that something was going to end up happening which is why he needed to do everything he wanted to do while he could.

So today, while he "worked" which he did, but just had a shorter shift. He was going to drive to the jewlers store and buy a ring to propose to Camille.

He hoped she would accept, he forgot sometimes that in this life she's only known him a few months and not years. The previous Camille would have said yes immediately. He could only hope she would this time.

He was anxious all day at the grocery store, he even accidentally dropped a can and cracked it open. He apologized profusely and cleaned up the mess.

When his shift finally ended. He was running so fast to clock out he nearly forgot to take off the apron.

He jumped into his car and started it up speeding downtown to the jewelry store.

Before he got out he had to take a few deep breaths and steady himself.

~ I'm going to do this, I'm gonna get that ring and I'm going to ask her to marry me~

Dean got out the car and walked in. He suddenly felt out of place seeing some of the people who looked at him sideways, probably because he was so young.

Dean remembered one time. Only once before they had talked about the kind of ring she would like.

Camille had said something about a sterling silver ring with an oval cut diamond.

Dean told the sales associate what he could remember and he brought back three rings.

Dean studied them for a few minutes and finally decided on the third. It had diamonds on the band in the shape of hearts. They had it in her size, which he had casually asked her about a few days prior.

The ring cost him $1,640 Subtracted from the $7000 he had saved up, he was left with $5360.

More than enough to help him with college.

He tucked the ring safely away in his pocket and began the drive back home. He drove slow this time as he finally felt at peace.
