It's the end of school and she just sits till the class is empty. She wishes it was over for her but she still has witch school to go to. There is actually a school but no, she's not allowed since she's not part of a coven. Luckily her aunt is a teacher so she home teaches her 'witch studies'. The worst thing about having your aunt as your teacher is that they become your teacher more or less for the rest of your life. You see more teacher than aunt and it's sad because they're right there with you but it's hard to be anything but a student to them.
Aurora had to get up early to have witch class with her aunt because she'll be missing the next few and almost fell asleep on the table just waiting for her aunt.
"Oh Aurora, it's not that early and I know you didn't sleep late last night so get up! We have to finish this before you go"
She blinked herself awake, feeling guilty for reading till so late and angry that she didn't know about this early call or she would not have read so late, "sorry, what are we going to do -" she cut herself off by yawning, "sorry, today" she completed.
"We will briefly touch base on the history and possibly the purpose of the supernatural race here on earth and the sacrifice we make and the reason behind it and yes, Aurora, I mean a test"
Aurora knew she passed but she'll be so anxious until she gets her results. Her aunt was not the one to send and mark the tests though. Just because she was not in a coven or school does not mean she can skip witch studies, it is compulsory and if she didn't have anyone, she would have to be put in a lock-up school where she would have to pass to leave. It was more like the classes in jail.
Today was the day. She knew she would be left with him, she made sure of it. She took a risk doing it so it better be worth it. Her heart beat like a drill and she tried to calm herself because he would hear it. Because of her stupid racing heart, she passed up great opportunities but not this time and it's too late to change now. She changed the roster for the seating, magically of course, so it was illegal but only a little because she wasn't hurting anyone. Her heart skyrocketed when the teacher called her name, knowing he was next, and sure enough, it was. Her eyes were wide and her hands shaky, she just looked out the window. He took it in stride and greeted everyone going past him. Her spells are going to waste, and after all of the trouble to learn it too. She glanced at him and when he wasn't looking, checked him out. He was in jeans, a black top with takkies, so casual with his gingered surfer hairdo. When he talks to you, he makes you seem so special, even if he is just asking you to move aside or asking you for the time. Aurora got so lost in her thoughts while looking at him that she didn't hear when he asked her something and only blinked out when he waved in front of her eyes and she blushed in embarrassment. "Sorry..." she looked out the window and tried to squeeze into herself.
"Hey... Don't worry about it, we all daydream and don't see what's in front of us" Aurora sighed, he is so understanding... "Urm, sorry if I freaked you out"
He grinned at her, "You said that already" he offered her his hand to shake "Aurora, right?" she blinked and took his hand, it was too warm... She knew he didn't really become a vampire. Although a vampire is not ice to the touch, the heat is not human-warm.
"Yeah and you are Xavier" and you are a liar too... She pulled her hand away and tucked a stray hair behind her ear, trying to think what to say to keep him talking to her, "So, I love your dog, I mean from the pictures you post on Instagram"
Damn Aurora, she thought, what the heck is that? But he just smiled and it somehow looked more real than the other times he grinned or smiled "I didn't know you follow me, but yeah Milo is great, do you have any pets?"
Aurora finally smiled without struggling, "Yes, I had but unfortunately he died, my little evil genius was Rover, he was a forest cat, here, I'll show you a picture", she took out her phone and showed him the pictures, forgetting that she's in most of them, "Wow, well he is not the only beautiful one in the photos" she blushed and put her phone away, bit her lip until she saw him looking at her, "oh, er, thanks, I guess... Well you already know that you good looking" her cheeks hurt and she couldn't blush anymore or she'll become numb.
"So, not to be insensitive but how did Rover die?" she looked out the window but she couldn't stop her thoughts from remembering "A stupid car accident, they actually kill more pets in a year than a slaughterhouse" It was true that pets were killed by cars more often than not but that was not what happened to Rover and if she were to tell him the truth, she would have to reveal her true nature and thinking about that brought her emotions down, knowing that nothing can happen because he was not supernatural and she was. He got the picture that she didn't want to talk and made conversation with the
guy opposite him.
Aurora went over and over the conversation and thought of what she should have said and wanted to face-palm herself with how awkward she made herself be.
Her aunt helped her pack for the camp that she unenthusiastically dragged her to. Well to the school. She could feel her stomach doing summersaults at the thought of being so far away. She never went anywhere overnight on her own before and to know that there's going to be something that the spirits want her to do even when they refuse to check in with her makes her clutch in fear.
