Chereads / The Introverted Witch / Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Aurora found a place just for her, at least for now. It was too beautiful and when others find it, it would be the usual hangout site. She was walking around when she heard water dripping so she followed the sound and found this place. It was a pond that was made by the fact that a stream flowed overhead and fell into this place and created a little waterfall barely enough for two to fit under. It was in the forest so the trees left no open space, but it seemed to make it better and more secluded. She thought of going back to get her costume and come back but if anyone saw her, she won't be alone and she didn't want to walk back. She would hear if anyone comes close. One, they would not come quietly, they would be chatty and two, it's almost supper time so they probably won't explore so she has at least an hour to herself in the water. With that in mind, she withdrew her clothes and stepped into the pond. She said a small spell and sent out a power pulse to chase any predators in and around her.

She doesn't know how long she's been floating about but she straightened when she felt a presence closing in and heard chatter and she felt disappointment kindle inside because she thought he would come and now she has to give up this place... She got out and dressed in a hurry and knew not to go back so she went deeper into the forest. She didn't go far when she heard a growl and she stopped in her tracks, she sent out a pulse of power, if it was anything but supernatural, it would leave but the growl grew more vicious, so it was supernatural and it now knew she was a witch and didn't seem to like her. She knew when she came that a wolf pack would be living here, whether it was a rogue pack or not, she should have tried to inform them before coming but she didn't know it would be a forest and now she's in trouble.

Aurora panted in pain and crouched behind a tree. She managed to kill two wolves, they were rogue which was not good, not for her and not for her classmates and teachers. She had no choice but to attack and lead them away from the students in the forest after she found out they were rogue. Unfortunately, she was injured. Her left arm and right thigh, her knee scraped by falling to the ground but her magic was strong. She wove a cloaking spell around her wounds so the wolves won't be able to hunt her by her injuries, a silence spell so she could move freely without too much noise but she didn't want to use up too much or she will be draining herself and she doesn't have time on her side to draw power from mother earth. She saw a shadow in the side of her vision and when she looked, she saw Kane, at least she hopes it was him and not some other Draconian. He just killed a wolf and was holding it up by its neck when another jumped his back but he turned towards the wolf and slammed it away, she could hear the crunch of bone from where she's been standing. He looked so skilled and it made her heart flutter. She slowly moved toward him, hoping he won't attack her. She wonders why he is attacking the wolves when he could easily avoid them. She made a mistake stepping onto a broken branch because she was watching him instead of her surroundings and not even her cloaking can help her this time. She ran a full sprint to a boulder she had just passed and using telekinesis, she dragged a stone just opposite her when the wolves surrounding the stone started moving away, she waited for the last one, concentrated on calming herself, and visualized a ball around the wolf with no air, she made it soundproof but it would not have stopped the pack's telepathic communications but luckily, rogues might stay and hunt together but they are not really a pack. She looked around for the other two or her Draconian but everything seemed quiet. Maybe she should just stay near the students just in case, she thought and headed that way.

She sat and started humming the healing chant, it would have worked better with the healing potion that goes with this chant but she didn't think to carry it and she cannot leave them to go back to the camp, she would have to settle for this now and later she'll go over it again with the potion. All she could do was stop or slow down the bleeding, she felt her power depleting and she couldn't stop the cloaking spell from dispersing.

She was not lucky in escaping notice but she ran to her cabin and informed a student that asked, that she fell and got scratched but she was fine and she guessed that they believed her, she thanked the universe that no teacher saw.

Aurora felt so much better, she had a hot bath and then applied the potion and chanted again and she managed to heal most of it until only scratches were left but that's fine, it would heal on its own. A witch has their own power and when they enter a coven, they can draw on them when needed but very few can draw from mother earth and if they can, it's not much but she can, she's always been able to. Aurora has been able to draw large amounts even after she's been kicked out of the coven. There's a limit to everything but not for her, she's always had more of her own magic than the others and she could call upon more power from the mother. The downside stems from her mortal body that can only hold so much and she gets tired. She of course never showed or told anyone. She never had anyone to tell, for one but also, she saw very early on that people hated those that had things others didn't. Her mother also made her promise not to reveal her true power to anyone or she would be in danger, from even those who should protect her. Aurora never experimented with the limit of her power or even used much, she was taught, like so many these days to hide their differences from man. She did more so because she did not belong to a coven. She basically lived like a human with a few tricks, for her safety.
