Chereads / Maid To Bea / Chapter 28 - 28

Chapter 28 - 28

Not in a million years did I ever think nor imagine I would come across the gates of Greenville high, talk more of being held within its walls.

It was a school holding lots of history,

accomplishments and not to forget, the reputation.

Here I was stood in its hallways, completely unsure of where to go, or who to turn to. The word "Newbie" made its mark right on my forehead.

I held my school schedule in hands, my eyes searching around for homeroom.

Moving to the locker which I was assigned to earlier by the administration, I tossed few of my

books in there, then turned around, resuming my search.

The sound of the bell got my feet hurrying, my figure dashing though the halls.

Getting late to class wouldn't be a good impression on my first day, would it?

Students pushed past me as they hurried to get to class, figures moving about. A student came crashing at me, getting me almost flat on my face, not until two arms grabbed me.

Looking up at whoever was kind enough to save me from a moment of pain, I found Logan looking down at me.

"Be careful" he uttered, steadying me to my feet.

"Thanks" I managed to say.

"Thought mom was kidding, when she said she enrolled you in here" I heard him say, eyes staring at me.

"I thought so too" Followed my response.

"I'm only glad she did, seeing as to how I would have stopped working.....She really saved me from the stress of looking for another job"

He nodded slowly at my words, holding onto the backpack held onto his shoulder.

"All thanks goes to Cameron, he was the one who persuaded her" At the mention of this, my gaze fixed on him, lips parting slowly, my mind processing his words.

"Cameron?" I asked surprised

"Yeah. You have no idea how much he pestered mom, just to enrol you here"

I looked away at once, the thought of Cameron, suddenly filling my head. So he was the one who convinced her to enrol me in Greenville.

Not to lie, I found it odd that Mrs Williams out of nowhere decided to enroll me in the same school her kids went to. Now who could do that?

For sure, Cameron may be mean and annoying, but there was little compassion left in him.

Logan's gaze focused on my figure, staring on like he was on to something, his eyes squinted a little and then he spoke.

"Anyways, have fun" he uttered right before walking off, leaving me to confusion, and yet again rounds of anxiety in this large walls highly known as GREENVILLE HIGH.

***

My first day at Greenville high was better than okay. Of course, students snuck glances every now and then, wondering whoever I was.

It was quite easy to stand out amongst all, seeing as to how each figure I came across exhumed such aura, that could turn one intimidated.

It got worse when I went to the cafeteria.

Flashback....

I was met with a noisy crowd the minute I stepped into the cafeteria. Slowly making my way to the front counter, where food was being served, I picked up a tray, requested for my meal.

My gaze was fixed on the lady passing food to the students, my eyes accessing her figure. She soon handed my food over, while the next student came up after me.

Making my way to an empty table, at the far end of the cafeteria, I tried avoiding the snacks and fruits flying in the air, thrown by students who decided it was only funny turning the cafeteria into a playground.

A sigh of relief escaped my lips the second I relaxed back in the seat, digging into my meal.

Just as I picked my burger up, having a bite, some boys strolled into the cafeteria. At their entrance, gazes turned to their figures, students staring on at them while they made their way in.

Truly, there was just something that radiated off them. Something that caused everyone sparing their figures a glance. Whatever could it be?

I at once recognised one of them. Cameron Williams—He had on his charming smile, one that could fool anyone, as he engaged in a conversation with the others, while they all made their way to a table just by the window of the cafeteria.

Logan and Tyler soon walked up to them as they took their seats, joining the group in discussion.

Logan's gaze suddenly rested on my figure, and the second it did, he began waving at me, calling my name so loud, students around turned to look at him.

At the mention of my name, Cameron's gaze snapped to my direction, his blue eyes staring at me with intent, and then they turned away.

Meanwhile, Tyler just stood there staring at Logan, while he waved on at me.

Only then did it dawn on me, that since I began working at the mansion, Tyler had never uttered a word to me.

He probably must be wondering what his mother's maid was doing in his school.

I saw the figure of Savannah walking up to them, hair hung up in a high ponytail, figure advancing towards their table. A girl was with her.

The moment Cameron's eyes took in her figure, the grin on his lips wiped off, eyes averting away.

On Savannah's face, was a look of Sadness, gaze weak, as her eyes beheld him.

Slowly she approached the table, her gaze never leaving his.

He soon muttered something quickly to his friends, which got them all up on their feet, and in a minute, they had all left the cafeteria, Cameron included, leaving Savannah there.

Her eyes lingered on his figure as he walked away, and for a brief moment, I noticed the tears which rushed to her eyes.

End of flashback...

Here I was, stood in front of Cameron's room, debating on thanking him or not.

Of course I had to.

He was the reason I could go to school and still work at the mansion, hence earning enough money to fend for my mom and myself.

Still, my knees were weak at the thought of facing him, and even saying a word. Part of me wanted to turn away, and just keep my gratitude to myself, but I knew the case would be me doing otherwise.

Bringing my knuckles to the door, I tapped on it lightly, yet no answer came.

Knock. Knock. I went again, still no response.

Just about turning around to leave, when the door suddenly tore open, and out came his profile.

He took in my figure as he pried the door open, stepping out.

I struggled to keep my eyes from shifting their point of focus to another area, but it was hard doing that trust me, seeing as to how he stepped out shirtless, leaving his bare chest staring back at me, calling on.

He was in black pants, which were just below his crotch area.

"I... I'm" My words poured out in stutters.

Why, just why did he have to look this way now that I wanted to thank him.

His hair remained in a mess, which made him much more fetching. His lips were red, I couldn't tell why.

Just as I parted my lips, about to say something, the door opened wider, and a girl stepped out.

The only thing covering her body was a towel, tied over her chest.

Her hair was also in a mess, boobs popping out of the towel.

"Is everything okay?" She spoke, placing her hands on his arm.

"Yeah" He replied quietly.

My eyes watched as the girl planted a light kiss on his lips, and without muttering a word to me, she went back into the room.

Of course, he got himself another girl right after Savannah cheated on him.

"I just wanted to say thank you for persuading your mom to enrol me into Greenville high" I rushed my words, swallowing hard.

His gaze was fixed on me for a while, a word not coming out of his mouth.

Finally, after a brief pause, he spoke.

"And how sure are you that I was the one who convinced her to enrol you there?"

"I know you're the one, Cameron. Logan told me" I replied.

He let out a sigh at once, turning his face away.

"Logan needs to learn how to keep his mouth shut" he gritted his teeth.

"Thank you" I breathed

"It means a lot" I spoke, looking into his gaze.

I noticed his eyes softening while he looked at me, and soon enough, he looked away.

Turning around, I began walking away, and not long afterwards, I heard the door shut quietly, and the lock turned.
