Chereads / Maid To Bea / Chapter 27 - 27

Chapter 27 - 27

I was more than eager to receive my pay check, and perhaps resume schooling according to mother.

Mother plan she had, I only hoped it worked out.

Hurrying into the mansion, I arrived at the doorstep, pushing the door open slowly.

I found Kate,  dusting the chinaware in the living room, eyes looking up at me the moment I walked in.

She eyed my figure, lip's tightening as she resumed what she was doing.

Since I got employed into the house, the maids had never taken a liking to me. The only ones who were ever nice to me were, Denna and miss Mary.

When the maids were informed that miss Tara had been fired. Kate, immediately made her disapproval known to me.

She accused me, saying, that I was the reason Mrs Williams fired miss Tara.

"Ever since you came into this house, there's been drama. Drama and mishappenings. You should go back to where you crawled out from. Cause no one wants you here" I remembered her words.

Mary at that time snapped at Kate, but she only hollered more.

I stared at Kate as she cleaned the chinaware. She rose her head up, and she saw me staring.

"Don't you have something to do?" She blurted, while my eyes remained fixed on her, as she cleaned the chinaware.

I was just about speaking, when I heard footsteps coming down the stairs.

Looking up, the figure of Mrs Williams came into view.

A smile appeared on her lips at once at the sight of me.

"Good morning ma'am" I spoke immediately

At the presence of Mrs Williams, Kate at once adjusted herself, focusing on what she was busy with.

"How are you, Nia" Mrs called, having a sit on the couch.

"I'm fine"

She nodded, then asked me to get her a glass of wine.

Hurrying into the mini bar, I returned with what she requested for, handing it over to her, and then standing back awaiting her words.

"I'll be giving your paycheck to you now, but first, I would love to inform you that, you could keep working here, cause everything's been taken care of"

I stared at her, not understanding what she meant.

"I don't understand" The words stumbled out of my mouth.

"I'll be enrolling you into Greenville high. The school which the kids attend" She announced finally.

The instant the words rolled out her lips, my jaw dropped.

"You'll begin schooling there tomorrow. And also, after school, you can come back to the house and continue working. That way, it'll be easier for you to work, and still attend school" She emphasised.

I was left dumbfounded, immediately going down on my knees with my hands placed together.

"I'm more than grateful" Tears rolled out my eyes, my voice croaking.

"It's okay. You can get up" she spoke at once, a smile growing on her lips.

At once, she handed my paycheck over.

Requesting permission from her to leave, which she granted, I hurried home to tell my mom the good news.
