Anneliese mind started to race and she thought in her mind, "Now what am I supposed to do! I can't lie but I can't tell him the truth! I haven't even shared anything with my family!! How am I supposed to tell the truth to a stranger who not to forget is a cunning vampire and on top of it all, he is a Conclave's member! What if he won't believe me and throw me into a dungeon? Or worse kill me for knowing that he is the murderer who killed the witch!"
Vincenzo saw the girl contemplating for a long time but his patience is running thin with every passing second!
Anneliese was too absorbed in her thoughts that she didn't noticed the pure blooded vampire taking a step forward. It was when she heard his deep threatening voice, "Didn't I tell you, I am not a very patient man Anneliese!" she snapped out of her thoughts. She noticed, how this man has dropped the honorifics and called her by name as if they are closely acquainted!
Seeing the girl not responding, Vincenzo's hand sought up and clasped her throat. The book she held fall over the wooden floor when she brought her hands to her neck in an attempt to get released from his tight grip but her struggles were futile against the red eyed man. Anneliese's back rubbed against the wooden rack, she felt something spikey pricked her back and she shut her eyes down because of the throbbing pain.
Suddenly, Vincenzo felt the girl's hand started to heat up, making his wrist burn under her touch and His grip on her neck loosened before he stepped away. Vincenzo watched the girl open her eyes with a wide gasp and started coughing. He noticed her blue eyes shining like a crystal under pressure.
Breathless, Anneliese looked at him, her heart pounding in her chest and scared to death, she said with shaking voice, "Don...Don't... Please... Don't kill me! I'm here to look for answers....I don't know what is happening to me!" Her eyes has stopped glowing and just terror is visible in them now.
Vincenzo realized the girl is not a human. Either the girl really don't know what she is or she is faking it. He thought to himself, "She can't be a Vampire nor can be Demon and Fairies can't lie! So the Witch but which one, Dark or Light!"
In a deadpanned tone, Vincenzo asked, "And what exactly is happening to you?"
Anneliese did not need another teaser from this man and she quickly exclaimed everything, "From her going to work at Mr. Herondale's... Finding the spells book... illuminating blue light.... the dream she had which turned to be real and the book appearing out of nowhere in the forest!"
Hearing her tale, Vincenzo stated in his mind, "Not a Witch either! Then what else she could be because she surely is not a human!"
When Vincenzo did not responded, Anneliese emphasized, "I am telling the truth please believe me!"
Vincenzo clicked his tongue and said, "I Know."
Anneliese parted her lips to argue but she realized and frowned, "You know! So you believe me...I mean that I am telling the truth?"
Vincenzo didn't say anything instead came near her before bending down to pick up the book she was holding in her hands earlier and it was when he got a whiff of blood coming from the girl! Picking up the book, he straightened up and said in a low tone, "You are bleeding."
Recalling the prick, she touched her wound which made her flinch, She looked at the man in front whose jaw is clenched. The look on his face made Anneliese tremble and she heard him, "Your blood! It smells different!"
Seeing Anneliese frown upon his words, he explained, "The scent of your blood is different than any other kinds!" and he paused a little before wondering again, "What are you girl!"
Anneliese replied quickly, "I am a human! I have never experienced anything weird ever before...It's that book...Since the moment I came across that weird book, these things are happening to me!"
Vincenzo asked, "Tell me what exactly happened in the forest?"
Anneliese confusingly asked, "Don't you already know what happened there?" Seeing him narrowing his eyes in irritation, Ann quickly answered, "I lied under pressure and then when I saw the officers searching for the book which wasn't there in truth. I just wished in my mind that, if only it was possible and one of my book could just magically appear in the forest! And the next thing I saw was the book of spells".
Vincenzo said, "You wished for the book to appear!!" He then ordered Anneliese, "Close your eyes" which made her eyes go widened and she asked him back, "Why?" Seeing him take a daunting step towards her, She quickly closed her eyes.
Vincenzo said to her, "Now wish what u wished for in the forest!"
Anneliese did what she was told to do and opened her eyes but nothing happened!
She heard him, "Again! Remember this time, word to word repeat exactly what you wished that day!"
Taking a deep breath, Anneliese nodded before closing her eyes again and wished in her mind, "A book that belongs to me could just magically appear!" And she opened her eyes and saw the vampire looking beside her. Following his gaze she turned and saw the Book of Spells laid on the wooden floor!
