Next day, Putting her thoughts in the back of her mind, Anneliese spent her day resting and enjoying her time with her family as if it was her last day free of chaos. Right now everything felt pleasant to her eyes, Anneliese watched her mother braiding her sister's hair and her father feeding the birds in backyard. The thought of her being adopted passed through her mind which made the soft smile on her lips slip away.
Noticing the sadness in his daughter's eyes, Edmond walked over to where Anneliese set. Sitting beside his daughter, He said, "Ann, you know, when you were little probably around five or six, You used to spend all your time here in the backyard, playing with birds and whenever it rained, you used to stand at the backdoor or at the window, wondering, "Where are the birds? Why aren't they home? They will catch cold if they were to drench in rainwater." And then one day, you came to me and asked to build a home like ours for the birds in the backyard, I chuckled at your thought first and then explained to you, "Nature made birds to be free beings who can fly anywhere they want, whole world is their home and keeping them in a closed habitat is not their destiny." You seemed to understand my words very well even though you were little, which made me proud of you. And then, the next day, I saw you making nest at the farm for the birds and when I asked you, "What are you doing Ann?" You looked at me with your big blue eyes which held excitement in them and said, "I am making a home for birds where they won't feel trapped, they can take a stop to rest and leave whenever they want to fly around the world." Since then, no matter what the problem is, You started to find your solutions in your own way."
"The reason why I am telling you this is, because the other night you said, something is bothering you! I am not going to ask What it is, you must be having your own reasons if you have decided to keep it to yourself but remember that, you'll find the solution in your own way like you always have."
Ann smiled at her father's words and exhaled before nodding. She heard her father again, "Ann, There is one thing that you should know now, You are a destined child my dear and life won't be easy for you but know that I have always loved you as Adlina and will always try to protect you."
"Why are you saying this papa? I know you adore me and will always protect me. And what do you mean by destined child?" asked Anneliese
With a sad smile on his face, Edmond replied, "Like you have your reasons, I have mine and this is the most I can tell as of now, dear." Pausing for a moment, he continued again, "Believe that, with time life will unfold itself and you'll find the answers you are looking for!"
Anneliese did not question further and just nodded at her father. Getting up, she said to her father, "Let's cook something for dinner Pappa!"
Smiling at his daughter, he got up. Telling his wife, they are going to make dinner tonight, they went to kitchen. After dinner, Ann set with her family in drawing room in front of the fireplace. When her parents retired to their room, Anneliese and Adlina went to lock the doors before going to their room. Changing into her nightdress, Picking up a book to read, Ann went to the wooden table near the window. After reading for an hour, closing the book, she got up from the chair and looked outside the window.
"You are a destined child!" her father's words resonated in her mind and she asked herself, "What does that mean? Does pappa know about the Spells Book and my connection to it?" And She thought in her mind, "I shall talk to Mr. Enzo about this and ask him, if I should talk to pappa about what I am experiencing and about the Book!" Noticing the black cat outside the window, she snapped out of her thoughts. She went to her bed to sleep but turned over to see the black cat still sitting at the window. Sighing, she went to her window and opened it for the cat to come inside the room. When the cat did not moved, she said, "Come inside, It gets colder outside at night." The cat stared at her for a minute and then jumped inside on the table. Picking up a small blanket from her closet, she went to the table and spread it out for the cat to sleep. Going to bed, she laid down and stared at the cat who is curled up on her table, breathing out, she closed her eyes.
