It was a lot more quiet at the table than usual. Kameron sat at the end of the table, pushing his food around with his fork. Darius was on the other side of the large table, eating ravenously and glancing at Kameron now and then.
It seemed he was wondering whether or not Kameron had told his parents about what happened. But judging by Sally or Ms. Lejoe's attitude they didn't know. A part of Darius felt a little guilty after noticing the small bruises on Kameron's wrist. he had been barely aware of his surroundings and when he saw the smaller boy all he could think of was how beautiful he looked. Darius rarely told people about his bisexuality but Kameron...even now while hungover, He still wanted to take those plump lips again.
Brian, or Mr. Lejoe seemed to notice the tension and cleared his throat. "So what time did you come in this time?" He asked. Darius frowned and glared at him. "None of your business old man." He snapped. "Darius! Be respectful to your father!" Sally said. Darius growled and the sound sent shivers down Kameron's back. "That man is not my father. He is nothing but a replacement and soon enough you'll dump him too." Darius said, teeth gritted in anger. Sally gasped. "How dare you! Who keeps a roof over your head? Feeds you? What happened with Stephen and me was not my fault!"
Sally's voice was rising. Sally was such a nice person and when she got mad then that meant it was time to run. Brian sighed. "Sally, just let it go." Sally glared at him. "No. He may be 21 but that does not mean he has to stop listening to his mother."
Darius scoffed. "Fuck you, mom." He snapped before getting up and storming out of the dining room. "Darius Elijah Lejoe, you get back here now!" Sally shouted after him. The only answer she got was a door slamming shut upstairs. Molly, Kameron's little sister was in the living room watching TV so she had not heard the argument. "I have to go, too." Kameron muttered before getting up and walking away leaving Brian and Sally alone. As he went upstairs, he glanced at the door to Darius's room. Without thinking, he walked up to the door and knocked.
The door opened abruptly startling him. "I said leave me the fuck al--oh..." Darius said. He had thought it was Sally. "What do you want?" Darius asked leaning against the doorframe, and crossing his arms.
Kameron stared at his biceps. Darius was shirtless and Jesus help him. He had a wonderfully sculpted 6 pack and each muscle was defined and smooth.
Kameron swallowed nervously. He glanced down and then regretted it. As it happened, Darius was wearing no boxers underneath his pants and Kameron could see the out line of his dick against the fabric.
"What's wrong? See something you like?" Darius said smiling as he stepped closer.
Kameron shook his head. "J-Just wanted to see if you were ok. And it looks like you are so bye now." He turned and raced back to his room leaving Darius in the hallway. Darius chuckled. Cute, he thought.
Kameron sighed as he silently left the house. After cleaning his mysteriously devastatingly destroyed room, he had gotten ready for school texting his best friend to meet him outside. He had wanted to get out of the house as soon as possible. Of course, Darius had been in the hallway staring at him as he left. Kameron didn't understand what was going on with Darius. One day he was the same mean older "brother" and now he was weirdly sexual.
"Areeeeee!!!!!" Someone shouted. Kameron looked up and smiled as his one and only best friend barreled into him. "Sam, you're gonna suffocate me." Kameron said, laughing as Sam hugged him. She let go and grinned. " Never, jigaree dost." Kameron smiled at the way Sam called him bestie in Hindi.
Samira was a few centimeters taller than him. she had long black curly hair and. sharp features. She was shapely with a little more weight on her than him. She had bright light brown eyes and always managed to look good no matter what she did, whether it be cry, laugh, or outsmart him. And she was very smart at that. She had Indian parents but was born in the U.S. She was extremely outgoing and tended to speak her mind a lot. She was also very blunt and honest. They had been friends for almost 5 years. Sam was his partner in crime. They did almost everything together.
"So, what's happening?" Sam asked as they began to walk. Kameron shrugged. "Nothing much." Yeah. Just strange dreams, a horny brother, and a trashed room.
Sam frowned and cocked her head in apprehension. "You are the worst liar I have ever met."
"Pffft. I'm a great a liar. You just think everything is a lie." Sam laughed and Kameron smiled. He really did love Sam even if she did get on his nerve.
"Well, when your best friend has a habit of disappearing and making really bad excuses of course you'll expect lies." Sam said.
Kameron smiled. "Hey your birthday is coming up. What are you gonna do?" He asked, changing the subject. Sam grinned. "Well as usual, get a large cake, invite family members and friends over and have fun. Plus I'll probably be wearing bright colors for a few days that week." She said. Kameron nodded. "You gonna invite me?" he asked. Sam gasped dramatically. "Of course. Plus my parents love you. They would never let you not go."
As expected. The Yadavs had always loved Kameron, calling him a "achchha prabhaav," or good influence on their daughter. "Thought so." Kameron said, though he sounded a little smug. As the two of them got closer to the school, Sam looked at him, face serious. "Are you sure you are ok?" She asked.
Kameron nodded. "Its just Darius being an asshole again." Sam nodded slowly but she didn't look very convinced. She knew about Darius and his constant torment.
"Whatever you say, dost." Friend in Hindi.
The rest of the walk was comfortably silent. Kameron already had a bad night and he wasn't looking forward to seeing any of the older boys at school. Most of them were racist and homophobic. Sam was good at brushing off any comments but Kameron? Not so much. Every mean comment just made him want to shrivel up and die.
Sam helped him through it. Kameron could hear the faint shouts and laughs of some of the other students. Clarence G. Campbell High School was a large school on High Rise Point Rd. Over 1,000 students went to the school.
Most of them were nice. Others were just plain rude. Some were neutral.
Soon enough they arrived into the large parking lot. There were students everywhere. Some were quiet and in the corner while others gossiped and looked for their friends.
"I wanna go home." Kameron muttered. He would rather be in the same room with Darius than be in this stupid school which was saying a lot. "Oi! Watch out!" Someone shouted. Sam yelped and Kameron turned just in time for a football to slam into his face. "Owwww!!!" He shouted. He gripped his now bleeding nose. "Aw man, so sorry." Someone said. Kameron growled and looked up ready to curse out the asshole that had hit him in the face with the stupid ball. His words died in his throat when he saw who it was. He was tall and built. His eyes were strangely a dark greenish red. His hair was pure black and sprouting in almost all directions.
He smiled and cocked his head in curiosity as Sam handed him the football. "Hey, are you ok? I can take you to the nurse if you want." The boy offered.
Kameron finally found his voice and shook his head. "I'm fine. I can go by myself."
"Yo, Zach, man. Leave the faggots alone." Another boy said loudly as he walked over. The boy, Zach turned and frowned before looking back at Kameron. Sam narrowed her eyes. "Johnson, shouldn't you be in jail learning how to count?" She snapped. The growing crowd let out a collective "oooooh!" Kameron sighed. "Sam, let's not start an--!" he didn't finish as suddenly Michael Johnson, the school bully and star football player got in their faces. "Wanna say that again or should I send you back to your country, you dirty bitch?" he growled.
Sam laughed and flipped her hair staring at her nails. "I don't take advice from gorillas. And I was born in the US, dumb ass. So if you wanna send me back to 'my country' then you would be sending back home. Which is where you should be instead of here creating a stain on the world, you overgrown baboon." Sam said.
The crowd was silent. Then everyone burst into laughter. Even Zach. Kameron smiled. That was his best friend. If only he could do that. Stand up for himself. Michael glanced around, face red in embarrassment. "Just you two wait." He snapped before turning and storming away, dragging Zach with him. "Bye! Hope to see you soon!" Zach called, grinning at Kameron. Kameron blushed and quickly turned and began to walk away Sam following.
"You ok?" Sam asked. "I...don't know." Kameron answered as he trudged into the school heading for the nurse's office. Sam frowned but smiled a few seconds later. "Well I bet you felt a lot of things while you were staring at that Zach guy." she teased. Kameron blushed and glared at her. She laughed making him smile. Zach was kinda hot. "Well we can gossip about that guy later. Let's get you some medical attention." Sam said. Kameron scoffed. "You make it sound like I'm gravely injured." Sam shrugged. "You could be." She said, smirking. The two then laughed as they arrived at the nurse's office. Sam opened the door for him and he sighed as he walked in. It was a small clean room with 3 hospital like beds lined against the wall below the windows. "Well what can I help you with?" A deep voice said to their left. They jumped and Kameron turned to the tall figure. "Um, my name is Kameron and my nose is broken. I think." He said quietly. The figure turned and Sam gasped. Kameron was silent too busy staring in disbelief.
"No way..." Sam whispered.
"Well, hello there....Kameron." said Kameron's father.
Son of a bitch.
