Chapter 8 - The School Of Magic

"Oh shit." Zach mumbled as a very mad Kameron stormed up to him, Sam close behind. "Zachary! What the hell are you doing here?" Kameron snaps once he reaches the boy. Zach attempts to smile. "I...I was randomly sent like you were. I came here a few days ago."

Kameron narrowed his eyes at the older boy. He could tell that Zach was lying but he'd confront him later. "So what are you doing here?" Zach asked.

"We suddenly just woke up here in an unfamiliar forest. It was weird. This place is just weird." Sam answered, shuddering at the memory of carnivorous plants. Kameron laughed and nodded. HE didn't know why this was happening to them but he kinda liked it.

"C'mon. I'll take you guys through the village and then we can head that way. To the school." Zachary pointed to another mountain range that was much closer. Just barely Kameron could see...a castle?

"Wait, what school?" Sam asked as Zachary began leading them through the village. The chief and others had already left to attend to their daily tasks leaving the three high schoolers alone.

"Xalladdiem. School Of Magic." Zachary said with a fond smile. It was silent for a few seconds before Sam snickered which caused Kameron to bust out laughing. "Hey! It's not funny!" Zach snapped. Sam cackled. "Y-Yes it is! It sounds like ghetto Hogwarts." Sam said between laughs. Kam was at the point of suffocating.

Zach scoffed and crossed his arms as around them villager looked at them like they were deranged. "It's not...ok maybe it is a ghetto Hogwarts. But that's not the point. Magic exists and you two will learn." He said, scowling. " This village is called Marin." Kam sobered up and sighed as Sam wiped a stray tear from her face. "You want us to learn magic at ghetto Hogwarts? Absolutely not." Sam said smiling. Zach shook his head and continued walking. "It's not a choice. We have to. And who knows maybe the people there can send your dumb ass home." Sam gasped scandalously and Kam scoffed.

"That was uncalled for! And you should be the last one talking, you baboon!" Sam snapped. Kam laughed but tried to hide it with a cough. Zach glared at Sam and she glared right back. The tension actually seemed to make the air ripple. Wait. The air was rippling...

'Hmm, their magic auras are clashing.' Apep mused. Kameron frowned. Auras? 'Concentrate and look again.' Apep said and Kameron closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

When he opened them he gasped. Sam and Zach were arguing but around them Kameron could see swirling energy. The energy around Sam was...blue? And the one around Zach looked like a light yellow.

What did his look like?

'Like a really big red and black hole. Or a giant mass of smoky red and black.' Apep said. Kameron could literally hear him smiling. "Stop laughing, asshole." Kameron muttered. Apep gasped and mumbled a few unkind words in an ancient language before going silent.

Kameron sighed and turned in a slow circle. He ignored the two arguing and kept walking. eventually he found himself on the other side of the village staring at the huge forest before him.

Well, this wasn't foreboding at all. Taking one last glance back Kameron slowly walked into the forest. The only reason why he even when in here was mostly because he had noticed something within but could not tell what it was.

His caucasian curiosity was coming out again. Not cool. But hey if he died then that was his fault. 'You're an idiot. We're going to die in here.' Apep whispered startling Kameron. "Calm down, you overgrown snake. We're fine." He said.

"Totally fine."

'The fact that you are lying to yourself and me is just sad.'

Of course if Kameron had turned he would have noticed the two purple eyes watching him from the dark.
