Chapter 40 - Drey’s Story- Choice

"It happened back in 2010, during an CICA investigation in Cape Cod. My team and I were looking for a family of highly dangerous criminals." Drey began.

[2010- Cape Cod Massachusetts.]

"Can you believe it, a whole family of criminals. Even the kids?" Agent Alvin said as he drove up the road.

"Did you even read the mission file? It isn't a family, it's down to a couple. It was family but we imprisoned most of them already, they didn't have what we were looking for unfortunately." Agent Drey said as he went over the mission file again.

"What do they look like?" Agent Cory asked from the back seat.

"Only their hair has been and they both have long hair approximately half their height. The woman's hair color is azure blue and the man's hair color is pure white." Agent Drey explained as he looked at the description.

"They probably already changed their color, I mean something that obvious. We should've caught them all along time ago if that's the case." Agent Cory said as he sat back.

"They are highly dangerous for a reason, it says that close combat is recommended but also dangerous, mid range may prove to be the best option and long rang will not work because we need to make sure they can't move or are dead on sight." Agent Drey continued to read the description.

"And we thought it was best to split up… the four of us? They need the fucking military?" Agent Troy complained.

"Yeah well that's probably why there are so many sightings of them-" Agent Alvin said as he saw two people kissing next to the fence that was in front of the light house.

"That's-" Speechless at how easy this search was it left us all with a bad feeling.

This couple was the target, letting their hair flow in the wind. There was no sign of them trying to hide besides staying in a lighthouse, they didn't lay low in Cape Cod. Everyone they met in the villages were well aware of them as if they were regular residents.

"Wait a minute, white hair? Like a-" Before Kyle could finish his question, Drey answered.

"I'm not sure." Before he continued the story.

We stopped just where the fence ended, and got out of the car with our weapons.

"Hands up, both of you!" Agent Cory said as hopped out of the car with his weapon already aimed at them. I stayed in the car to contact our other squad members.

"Hello?" Drey said as someone answered his call. "We found our targets, at the Race Point Lighthouse-" Then my team randomlystarted firing almost as if they were going up against an entire army.

"Hello! What's your status? Back up is coming." The man hung up.

They weren't supposed to kill the targets unless they resisted, they shouldn't have resisted with my team surrounding them like that. So I got out of to see why they were shooting.

However the couple was riddled with holes on the ground, their chest and head was completely mangled. Their blood and brains were splattered all over the lawn, nothing could survive this.

"Why the fuck would you kill them? We needed their information." I was pissed until I saw the look on their faces.

"We had to." Agent Cory said drenched in sweat.

"What do you mean, you had to? We had them surrounded!" It didn't make sense to me either way. Something wasn't clicking.

"Let's search the lighthouse, we'll deal with the bodies later." Agent Alvin said as he opened the fence door.

Troy and I, stayed out in the lawn to check if there was anything to help us find anything that might relate to the information we needed. I decided to let Troy search the bodies so I could look around the yard.

*Boom!* The sound of gunshots occurred in the front lawn again. Knowing I left Troy there, I headed back as fast as I could and was met by Cory and Alvin.

Troy had his gun trained on the dead couple. "He stood up! Even after we shot him. He stood up!" He said almost in a panic.

"Stop bullshitting, look somewhere else if you can't handle a simple cavity search." Agent Cory said as he walked up to him.

He wasn't joking, that dead body he saw stand up was real. It wasn't just the male and I noticed it way too late.

*Boom* She climbed up Agent Troy's leg and shot him in the head. I don't understand how none of us noticed her. Her head and heart was still full of holes but she was still able to move, then she started to heal. Her flesh was rebuilding itself but the materials were being formed out of thin air.

She stood up perfectly fine as if she was never shot. Her blue hair was still able to flow perfectly…. Agent Cory just stood there as if he was a statue, he didn't run or even make a sound. Then the Man stood up, just as perfect as his wife.

"CORY! MOVE!" Agent Alvin rushed to his side, trying to fire at the couple again but his gun jammed. So did mines.

I rushed back to the car, trying to check the status of reinforcements. By the time I had reached the car, they were already killed.

"Hello? We made contact with the targets! I REPEAT, WE MADE CONTACT WITH THE TARGET AND NEED REINFORCE-"

"We heard you loud and clear." This wasn't my squad. "And I regret to inform you that you cannot get reinforcements and you must record data on this species."

It was from the higher ups. They were listening to our comms the entire time, they knew what we were going up against and didn't even tell us. They left every important detail out.

"I lost 3 men, there isn't any time to record data. I need reinforcements." I was perplexed.

"You read the details of the mission and accepted it so you must complete it." They insisted.

"This wasn't included in the mission file. We never needed to recover data, it was to either capture or kill them-" Then I was pulled out as if a bull was tied to my legs.

They ignored Cory and Alvin to get to me but they didn't want me. "Hello, are you the man who hired these assassins?" The woman asked after she snatched the phone from me.

"No, I sent agents to bring in national criminals, Disaster level threats." The upper official said.

"What makes us national criminals? All we did was try to live a normal life. You're the ones who should be labeled as criminals." She said as she sat down.

"You killed thousands, probably even millions, you have stolen classified information from all nations. You've broken many rules and laws world wide." The upper official said adamantly.

"Everything was in self defense. And the knowledge we have is a part of our history, nothing is stolen. Everything we have and know was acquired through the many centuries we lived. Who are you to claim that and call us criminals?" She was visibly frustrated so her husband took the phone.

"We haven't killed your agent yet. He heard everything." The man said as he looked at me.

"I see…" The higher up officials said as I was passed the phone. "Tell him, his service was admirable." He ended the call right after.

"What do we do now? They know we stay at the lighthouse now." The woman said distressfully as she leaned back on the car.

"We can just use this car." The man said as he started checking the car.

"We can't leave him here." The woman said as if she was looking at me like a lost puppy.

"Why? He tried to kill us a few minutes ago and is probably going to still try." The man said as he checked the back seats.

"But his life is ruined and now he's an enemy of the country like us." The woman said as she turned to him.

"I suppose… we'll ask him." The man said as he walked up to me. "The last time we did this, they sent people to kill that agent. Those were his same words to that agent as well but he didn't come with us. If you come with us, you'll be able to escape and evade them. Do you want to come with us?" The man asked as he knelt down to me.

"I chose to go with them and over time we were able to grow close as we traveled. I was never that close with the agents unfortunately so getting over their deaths wasn't a long process. Soon after I was labeled a wanted man with a heavy amount of charges in every state because I was traveling with them. I was helpful when it came to avoiding the CICA since I knew their patrol routes. So in return they taught me things the world lost, they had a bottomless pit of knowledge about history and experience but they also lacked a certain awareness when it came to fitting in with the locals around them but they always tried their best to be good to people. When we departed, I tried to see my family but they were convinced I was a horrific criminal already disowned and called the police on me. So I was on the road by myself for a year or two before I ran into you but that landed me in the hospital. When I woke up, I thought I was caught and at the time I didn't know what made me think that." Drey finished for a bit.

"Oh wow, I wouldn't knock everything down so I suppose that would be believable." Ms.Lily said as she looked at the three empty bags that were filled with blood.

"They were alive even after all of that…. That was more like what that Elven soldier did." Kyle thought as he stood up. "I never heard of anything like that though, it sounds odd. Well I apologize for turning you into a vampire but I know a place where you could live peacefully. If you want to come along with me to Blutheim, I can show you that place." Kyle said as he held his hand out to him.

"Well, I don't see any reason to go against it. I'll join you and help you with whatever you need if you can show me a peaceful life." Drey said as he shook his hand.

"Then, we should head to Melissa and see what her answer is." Kyle said.
