Delilah returned home after her classes for the day ended. She was completely taken aback when she saw a bouquet of flowers in front of her apartment door. She assumed it was Kim and smiled. Delilah excitedly opened the card. "You looked beautiful the other night, and like a moth to a flame, I am irresistibly drawn to you," it said. "I'm hoping you'll give me the gift of your company this Saturday night. Call me at this number." Morian's signature."
Delilah felt a flutter in her chest. She picked up the flowers and smelled them; they were beautiful spray carnations with yellow roses.
She found herself smiling as she remembered their kiss by the lake. She was overcome with guilt when she remembered Kim.
She had lunch with Kim later today. Her feelings for Kim were growing stronger by the day, but she knew she wasn't completely committed to him. There was something missing in him that she began to feel she could find in Morian.
***Lunch With Kim Dae-Jung…***
Delilah arrived at the restaurant, where Kim was already seated.
"Hi baby," Kim said as he stood up and kissed her.
"Have you placed any orders yet?"
"Just beer, what do you want to eat?"
"Pasta, Felicia said they added a really good one to the menu."
"You are free to have whatever you want, honey."
Kim signaled for a waiter, and after a while the waiter carried a bouquet of flowers to their table and a little box.
"Oh my," Delilah was taken aback.
The waiter handed the flowers and a wrapped box to her and left.
Kim smiled as she watched her reaction.
"These are stunning, my love."
"Not as lovely as you, Lilah, but open the box."
She gasped as she opened it and discovered a gold Vancleef bracelet inside.
"It's absolutely stunning, Kim."
He took it from her grasp and wrapped it around her wrist.
"I wanted to apologize about the other night, my jealousy got the best of me and I shouldn't have acted that way with you. "I apologize, Delilah."
"No need to apologize, Kim; thank you so much, my love."
She kissed him on the lips.
The waiter returned and delivered their food and drinks.
"Oh, I wanted to tell you on Saturday, I'm having a sleepover with Joyce, Felicia, and the girls."
"Since when did you start hanging out with Felicia/ I thought you couldn't stand her 'cause she is a gossip."
"I never said I didn't like her; she is just a tad bit annoying."
"It's ok love, I'll be catching the game with the boys anyways."
Delilah felt sick to her stomach lying to Kim about where she was really going to the next day. She hated having to lie to him but she couldn't resist Morian, she was drawn to him in an almost unnatural way.
***Saturday evening….***
Delilah got out of the shower at 5:00 p.m. and began getting ready. She received a text from Kim Dae-Jung, he was at the bar with his friends, she replied to him then she texted Morian, confirming their meetup, and her phone began ringing. It was Morian.
"Hi little dove, excited about our date later tonight?" she said after a brief pause.
"Good day, Morian." I'm looking forward to seeing you as well, though I'm curious as to why you invited me out?"
"I'm curious about you Delilah because I want to get to know you better. I'll send a car to pick you up at 7 p.m.; please text me your address."
"All right, see you soon." The conversation came to an end.
She started getting dressed and putting on her makeup when she heard a voice whispering to her.
"Mortala…."
She turned around and there was no one in the room, it seemed to be coming from her bathroom, she went in and turned on the light.
"It is official I have lost my mind."
Her phone rang, she picked up, it was the chauffeur Morian had sent for her. She grabbed her clutch and made her way outside, got in the car, and began her journey.
They arrived at a building, and the driver opened the door for her, standing in front of the building was Morian dressed in a white tuxedo. He reached for her hand.
"Wow, I have no words, you look ethereal."
"Thank you" replied Delilah with a giggle, "You look handsome, I love your suit."
He opened the door of the building, revealing a beautiful room filled with fascinating things.
"Wow, what is this place?"
The entire hall had beautiful antique objects, paintings, sculptures, and furniture. The room was brilliantly lit which illuminated the beauty of every item in it.
"One of my properties, it holds some of my favorite collections. These items have been passed down through several generations. Some of them are hundreds of years old."
"Wow, how fascinating."
He led her up a flight of stairs, Dr. Morian opened the door revealing the candle-lit rooftop, there was a table with two chairs, a candle burning at the center of the table. Flower petals and tiny candles scattered everywhere they stepped. It was the most beautiful thing Delilah had ever seen. The candles outlined the pathway that led to the table and chairs. She was absolutely blown away by the view of the city and the night sky.
"Oh my, Morian, this is incredible."
"Seeing you happy is all I desire, beautiful Delilah" Morian looked at her, his eyes gleaming with contentment and excitement.
His eyes glowed, those enchanting unique eyes of his, one the color of a delicious Honeywell and the other a dazzling emerald crystal. His beard was cleanly shaven, and his short curly hair glistened, dark like his long thick eyelashes that served as an awning for his beautiful eyes. Delilah found herself lost in them every time she looked into them. He led her to the table, pulled out a chair for her to sit on, and took a seat opposite her.
