Delilah dared not to speak in order not to enrage him further, but his silence made her even more paranoid. She'd never seen this side of Kim before, and she was partly to blame for leaving out the tidbit about working with Morian.
He drove up to her apartment, got out, and opened the door for her.
Even when he was upset, he remained a gentleman to her.
They entered the apartment.
Delilah placed the flowers on the table and turned to face him, saying, "I'm sorry."
"For what? If you haven't done anything wrong, why would you be sorry?"
"I didn't cheat on you."
"Then why didn't you tell me you were working with him?"
"Because I knew you would freak out like this."
"Bullshit Lilah don't try to play the jealous boyfriend card, I would never keep you away from any opportunity that could advance your life. All I've ever asked is that you show me the same modicum of respect and love that I show you."
Delilah began to cry; she was overcome with guilt.
"Did you have sex with him?"
"What? How could you even ask that?"
"Answer the bloody question."
"No, I did not have sex with him."
"Did you kiss him?"
"I fail to see how these questions will help."
"Don't fucking play with me, Lilah! Did you kiss him!" yelled Kim, his voice deep and loud.
Her crying intensified; her behaviour offered him the answer to his question.
"I am a fool" replied Kim as he held his head; "all I have ever done was love you, you selfish, lying, cheating bitch!"
"Don't Kim, you are many things but you aren't cruel, don't be cruel."
"Cruel? What word would you use to describe how you've ripped my heart out."
"I'm sorry, I love you, Kim, I never wanted to hurt you."
"You love me?" he chuckled; "if this is love then I don't want it."
"I love you, Kim, I do, we kissed once and that was it. It was stupid, I was stupid but that happened months ago. I assure you nothing has happened between the doctor and I."
"Do you love him?"
"What?"
"Am I speaking fucking Korean? Do you have feelings for Doctor Morian?"
She was silent,
"Felicia was right, she told me about your feelings for the doctor but I like a fool felt I could love you through anything."
"Felicia? That bitch has always wanted you, Kim, she has always been jealous of what we had. I can't believe you would listen to her."
"Don't try to make it seem like Felicia is the bad guy here, did she make you lie about working with the doctor? I can't believe how foolish I have been."
He exhaled deeply and stormed out of the apartment.
She sobbed on the floor, devastated.
Kim got in his car and drove away, his heart broken beyond words. Delilah was his life, and she had betrayed him. He hadn't told her, but the reason he said he wouldn't be picking her up from work was because he had gone ring shopping and wanted to surprise her, hence the flowers. He'd been planning to propose to her for weeks, but her deception and betrayal had ruined everything. He went into the nearest bar, wanting to drown his sorrows in alcohol. His phone was ringing with calls from Delilah, but she was the last person he wanted to talk to, so he turned it off. He'd been drinking for a while. He'd been drinking for hours before deciding to go home. He climbed into his car and drove away.
"Love hurts, doesn't it?"
Said Morian as he appeared in the passenger seat.
Kim was scared shitless; he couldn't believe his eyes, he was so drunk that he hallucinated his rival in love.
"You? What the fuck? How the hell did you get in my car?"
"You are asking the wrong questions, Kim."
"What the fuck are you?"
"Still asking the wrong questions. You see, me and Mortala or as you know her Delilah go way back a couple thousand years. I have loved her since the moment she came into existence. You have no idea what it's like to love someone but constantly have to battle obstacles to get to them. To watch them in the arms of another. I have sacrificed way too much to be with her. I am a patient man but my patience has run thin."
"What could you possibly want from me?"
"Personally? Nothing. I know you are a good man Kim and I do believe you love her, but what you feel for her is nothing in comparison to the millennia I've spent loving her. I'm sorry that you got caught up in an old love triangle or should I say love square, oh it doesn't matter."
"Look man, I don't know what you want from me. I have never done anything to you, you came for my girl. You are the reason why there is a wedge in our relationship."
"I know, which is why I am sorry for what I'm about to do." Said Morian as he looked at the engagement ring box in Kim's car. "You poor fool, what I do, I do out of mercy."
"Sorry for what?"
"Your Death, you must die in order for our love to live," Morian responded, his eyes blank, cold, and detached.
Kim stepped on the brakes nervously, but it was in vain. He was powerless.
