Synopsis
In the land of Alderney there exists many wonders of man and nature, however none are more divine than the gods. Beings born with the ability to collect faith to perform miracles for the mortals. However life isn't as simple as it seems for a newborn god who wishes to be mortal.

Chapter 1 - The wish of a lonely child

Today on the 13th of May 10665 of the new haven calendar, in a small neglected city of Plymouth, a small child sat in his room and made a wish that should have gone unanswered.

Jacob was born to a lesser noble family in Plymouth. His parents came from new money and lived lavish lifestyles. He has everything a lesser noble could buy: a mansion in his name, his own personal servants and all the toys he could want. Any 6 year old child would say its a dream come true, but to Jacob its a never-ending nightmare of boredom.

His father managed to save a princes life in war and was given the title of baron and enough money to last three generations, but his father still worked all day under the mayor to help stabilise his families position in Plymouth.

On the other hand his mother kept spending on lavish parties trying to fit in with the noble ladies. Jacob may be young nut he could tell the others didn't like them, he tried to tell his parents but they said it was nonsense.

Jacob at first tried to play nice with the other noble children but they all looked down on him for being of common descent and the games the nobles played were too boring for Jacob; they all played tea parties and pranks on the servants. Jacob wanted to play knights and mages and with his toy figurines which led to the others calling him poor as that is a commoners job.

He cried to his parents who told him just to suck it up or avoid them, they wanted him to just pretend he's having fun.

Jacob had never felt more alone that he wishes that his father never saved the prince, but deep down all he wishes for is a friend, someone to talk to about his day, someone who would be there and care when he's hurt, someone who he can share his hobbies with and not be made fun of, someone who will play with him to relieve his boredom.

But what Jacob didn't know was that this same wish has been made by millions, maybe billions of people before. People who need help. People who are alone. People who haven't given up on their last breath for a friend.

All these wishes go up pass mountain peaks and fluffy clouds, up pass the sky and into the heavens where they fall onto death ears. No god is there to answer these wishes, no god cares about a small minority of wishes that won't bring them stability and power.

But as Jacobs wish fuses with a pile of broken dreams, a miracle occurs and the pile of wishes slowly starts to move.

A lucid bubble begins to form around the morphing wishes as they began to change into something more than just wishes.

The wishes are creating a new-born god.

This isn't something new in alderney as there are many gods across the giant world but every time a new god is born it can be told as a miraculous tale, something divine, something sacred.

Although it happens once or twice a month it is still a birth of a new god.

As the bubble starts to expand the small blob of light starts to stir and a thought began to appear in the light.

"Who am I?"

Just as the thought appeared, a blue screen appeared in front of the glowing light. This is the system.

The system is an unknown entity that connects to everything and everyone on alderney. From gods to rocks everything has a interface that explains the skills, talents and titles of every entity on Alderney.

The stats would be divine for a mortal just born when an average adult human has an average of 10 in each stat except luck. However for a newborn god it is somewhat underwhelming. Most gods are born with 15 charisma using charisma as their main stat. When a god becomes a lesser god the charisma is usually around 100.

Apart from the below average charisma the rest of the stats are as expected. A god doesn't need to fight as its already protected in its divine kingdom, and a god who takes the offensive is left vulnerable to other gods wanting to remove the competition or gain some insight in the domains.

The skills are racial skills that most gods are born with that helps them gain followers in the mortal realm. When a god gains followers they will start to produce faith/belief a portion of the faith will be absorbed by the god while the rest is either tainted with desire or fails to reach the divine kingdom.

The god can use this faith to produce divinity which the god uses to perform miracles.

The race of the god is known to change depending on a variety of factors most gods choose to be the same race as their followers to become closer to mortals and gain more followers. Some become other races for different reasons.

Every being has a bloodline however the bloodline has different grades based on the ability's and purity of the bloodline. A newborn gods bloodline is almost always pure and a progenitor because the universe is the one who created gods. Gods with an impure bloodline were born from other gods or forcefully merged with a different bloodline. one can upgrade ones bloodline using materials in the mortal realm which can give the gods bloodline talents.

In rare cases though one doesn't need resources as the bloodline can upgrade by itself through mutation when ones grade improves.

The newborn deity pauses to ponder over the information infant of it when a shock of pain floods the lights soul.

After a moment of flickers and twitches the spark calms down, this is its inherited memories.

This is a large stockpile of memories that explains to the god its purpose a well as installing common knowledge about the world around it.

The light watches the memories in anticipation and wonder, it doesn't know why but it just finds the mortal realm so fascinating. all the deity has seen in its short existence is its small room of a divine kingdom floating in what appears to be an endless dark void.

Then suddenly it knows about fluffy white clouds floating in the blue sky with a bright sun. Green grass dancing in the wind and sheep grazing on their blades. Trees with colourful leaves swaying in the wind. Bustling towns and cities full with loud mortals, talking in the streets, playing in the fields, laughing in their homes.

It does not know yet but when other gods gain their inheritance they usually study it to gain a better understanding of what attracts mortals but instead this newborn is gazing with envy at the academies, the farmers, the merchant caravans and bazaars.

But can we really blame it.

Without further hesitance the deity uses its observe skill and observes its only follower a small nobles son from a small city in a small kingdom.

The city was the least prosperous in the kingdom with little to no foot traffic, just an odd merchant caravan driving in from nearby villages bringing wheat and other grains. The streets were unkempt with many homeless begging on the muddy streets. the houses were mostly wooden shacks thrown together with a few even being made with mud.

Only in the noble district cut of the from the rest of the city by fields can be seen stone houses and manors for the extravagant.

A large cathedral stands at the back of the city that worships Abraxes supreme god of light. A smaller church stands next to it that worships Arsenia main Godess of hunting and studies. Arsenia is the Catalan kingdoms main goddess of worship, she represents the domains of hunting large prey such as dear and boars and also the study of art and history.

the cathedral is extremely wealthy compared to rest of the city, looming over like some sanctuary to the slums. However people rarely use the doors of the cathedral as the priest and high priest inside disdain the poor.

the church of Arsenia shares a similar expression as Arsenia is said to only favour the hardworking.

The church sees the poor as lazy as they aren't earning any money and instead living in squaller. However if the beggars came to the church for a job they would most likely be beaten for dirtying sacred grounds.

This world is a cruel world that many do not rise in, just wriggle in mud and die as they lived.

However the Flicks have become the talk of the town, a beacon of hope to the poor that they too can one day become rich and a stain of rumours to the wealthy.

They are the one family that broke the never ending story of poverty.

however the story is sure to come to an end soon as the family is bound to fall out of the princes favour and the disdainful observers will act.

In every nobles eyes the Flicks tale is a short story doomed to failure. While they watch this joke of a family attempt to cling to ill-gotten riches their eyes filled with mockery watching the wife bend her back to try and fit in.

They watch the father work pointless jobs slowly squeezing all his energy out before his tales inevitable end.

And their young son had rumours spread about his barbaric acts and behaviour no noble wanted their kids near him knowing those rumours were fake.

The god zooms in on his one follower, the little boy called Jacob Flick.

Jacob sat on the floor of his room halfheartedly playing with his toys.

This week has been a bad week for him. He hasn't seen his father all week and his mum is in a grumpy mood as she orders for more clothes that Jacob know are out of fashion but his mother had been convinced by her 'friends' that its going back into fashion.

He bumped into Jamie Anderson who commented that he really did smell of stable straw.

He knows it is s lie and over the year of being tormented he has become numb to it.

Jacob then opens his system interface to take a look at his stats. This is what he wants. Jacob wishes to be an adventurer exploring the world gaining the riches of his own making and leave this godforsaken city.

He knows it's a pipe dream at the moment but give 6 more years and he becomes an adult and can leave on his own.

When he is 12 by law he is no longer a child, but an adult recognised by law, to be able to work for himself and leave the city. He would join the local adventurers guild and transfer to another branch. What he does not know however is that the adventurers guild would most likely not hire him in order to please the nobles, if he manages to survive the coming years. But he can dream for he is young and hasn't fully comprehended the cruelty of the world.
