Jacob grabbed his carving like he was carrying a newborn and rushed towards the main hall with gleeful strides.
His movements didn't go unnoticed by the many servants as a few times he almost ran into furniture on his way through the servants quaters.
But he didn't care, he had to show his parents what he had done.
He knows that he has sculpted Crow due to the [priest of Crow] title. He has read that the titles have minor influence over ones mind and body, for example his noble title makes him feel slightly superior too common folk while inferior to higher nobles.
His new title [platinum carpenter](you are a talented carpenter, increased affinity with wood, increased ability of woodwork related skills, +20% exp minimum from a successful woodwork of iron rank or higher, +2 endurance, +3 agility, +1 perception) was rare for anyone in the Catalan kingdom.
Most carpenters are iron or bronze grade that only offers a small boost to woodwork skills and even smaller exp buff.
However what excited him the most was his tale. Tales are how the system recognises a hero, once ones ale is complete they would become A complete hero.
Tales in itself aren't something rare as there are countless people in Plymouth with a tale mostly in the adventurers guild branch. but it was rare for non-combatants to gain a tale.
there are 5 grades of tales showing the current potential of the hero: tales are the lowest grade, then stories, epics, legends and myths at the top.
Heroes born from tales are known as pseudo-heroes as their grade is not improved, but they do stand at the peak of their grade.
Heroes born from stories have their grade upgraded by one with each subsequent hero having their grade upgraded by another one.
Mythical heroes are said to be existences similar to gods, but neither Jacob or Crow can be certain.
The fame brought by the tale works to upgrade ones soul. Meaning Jacobs soul would be similar or even better than his parents who are in their early 20's.
fame is used to extend ones lifespan and improve ones talent. In the world of Alderney living for centuries is common and becoming truly immortal is not impossible though rare.
Heck, even the cities hero, The Spear of Light, is said to be over 500 years old.
In Alderney, for mortals tales are said to be one of the main things living beings to do as it announces to the world all your achievements.
Jacob was lucky to find his mother in the hallway preparing to leave for a tea-party when she heard her son galloping down the hall.
"Jacob!" she shouted in annoyance of his loud behaviour.
"Mum look are finally passed my advancement task."
Jane Flick took one look at the idol in a half hearted proud mother smile. It's not wrong to say she isn't proud, but what she wants is for Jacob to marry one of the nobles daughters and live a better life as an aristocrat.
She's proud of her son for becoming a carpenter but most carpenters are commoners and not something a noble should become. She has been trying for a year now to get on those snobby ladies good side to maybe introduce her son to their daughters.
She knows her husbands title is non heritable and she worries of what her son would do when they're gone. He'll be out on the street.
So she'll bend her back and endure the others ridicule and mockery, trying to gain support for her son. A mothers love knows no bounds.
Her husband Paul is the same, he's been working with the city lord under city management to gain an influence and help his son gain a stable job in city hall. He isn't as foolish as the nobles think he is, he knows that his family is in trouble as many families are already dividing the wealth the prince gifted to him.
As soon as the princes eyes turn away the spies in the manor will turn into assassins gunning for his life. There is a reason that there are no wealthy commoners in Plymouth.
as such the family has become neglectful in worry.
But Jacob is too young for that, he's smart enough to know the servants are spies for other noble but too naive to think that they could be assassins.
As Jane was about to give a half flattering congratulations, her eyes bulged when she saw the system interface.
Platinum grade!
platinum grade items are rare in the Catalan kingdom, it's only a human kingdom. Humans are known to be weak but reproduce rapidly.
In all of history, there have been very few human empires that have sprung up with the ruling family of a pure human bloodline. This is due to there being very few powerful human bloodlines that can compete with the other races.
As such, platinum grade items were few and far between in the Catalan kingdom, as not many humans are talented enough to produce them. Most gold and above items are imported from neighbouring kingdoms and foreign tribes.
But surprisingly her son has produced a platinum grade item.
During the advancement task it would usually grade the final item and whatever grade that item is would be the max grade item you can make till you take the next test.
How did her son produce it?
After reading the interface she had begun to believe that it may have been due to the help of Crow.
At this moment, Crow however wasn't paying attention.
He got bored while Jacob started working on the toy soldier, I mean it was interesting to see Jacob start the sculpting but after 10-15 minutes anyone would get bored right.
So Crow quickly became distracted by decorating his divine kingdom and trying on new clothes.
Just as Crow was trying on a new red tuxedo he created with a little red bow tie, he got a system notification saying he had a new believer.
Surprised he activated his observe and was baffled to find out it was Jane, she was currently at a tea party with her son, showing off his work of art.
Wait a minute... isn't that me!? Confused thoughts flew out of his head.
Its been 10 min... it's been 3 hours, how has someone built a platinum grade idol of me?
All though the faith coming from Jane isn't very pure suggesting she's a shallow believer it is still something for Crow who only had one follower before today.
He is really slow compared to most gods as by now most newborn deities would have around 50 followers, however he has a priest which is something only powerful deities and above have.
Meanwhile a stir was happening across the noble class of Plymouth about what their spies have discovered. It was hard to believe that the fake nobles son was a platinum carpenter. For most humans platinum is known as the peak of humanity, all platinum professions are wanted by the big forces across the kingdom, even the royal family won't turn a blind eye to a 6 year old platinum carpenter.
Many nobles began to reevaluate the flicks family as a platinum carpenter was something that many nobles wanted to be affiliated with. Even the noble wives that invited Jane to the tea party as a way to make fun of her common upbringing, made a 180 and started flattering her.
'oh my what a wonderful dress, you really do set a new trend'
'I heard Sadie's son through a tantrum at his tutor during a math lesson, how did you teach your son to be so well behaved?'
'My daughters not doing so well with her fiancé at the moment, I heard he doesn't treat her right, your son is so well mannered, I bet if she marries him, she would be a lucky woman. I know 10 years is a bit of an age gap, but the older girls have the experience and talent, so a son would surely be running out.'
however though many nobles wanted to bring Jacob into their family, some saw Jacob as a threat. Paul, a former commoner already became a baron trying to jump to their noble status, but now his son dares to show such talent. This talent is enough to be given a higher noble title than his father, hell maybe it will be higher than theirs.
With this much power he would be able to run amok throughout Plymouth and they would have to bow to this common bred child.
"Call a council meeting this instant" Earl Anderson slyly aid to a waiting butler.
This boy has to go.
